Big plans for House. Seems Len might still be involved, guess they need someone with experience. Expect it will be PL & hopefully NL... Rye House stadium owner reveals plans for future of speedway at site Rye House stadium owner and Rockets co-promoter Warren Scott has revealed for the first time his plans for the Hertfordshire track next season and reassured fans speedway is at the centre of them. Scott, who is currently running the successful Buntingford-based Team BMR in the British Touring Car Championship, came in just before the start of Rockets' Premier League campaign in March to take over the Hoddesdon circuit and co-promote with Len Silver. The 44-year-old, who is a farmer by trade, said of his arrival on the speedway scene: "Really our first year it was to get in and see what it was all about. "I knew very little about speedway when I bought the circuit obviously I knew a lot about bikes [scott is a former British Superbike Championship rider] but speedway was new to me. "I wanted to understand speedway and learn a bit more about it and try and improve it for this year." However, it has proved a baptism of fire for Scott, with the first problems emerging during a farcical Sunday afternoon double header in May involving National League side Rye House Raiders then managed by Len's son, Andrew which was abandoned due to dangerous track conditions. A miserable campaign for the Rockets followed, and they finished second from bottom in the league after countless injuries and rider departures, while Andrew Silver was told his services were no longer required at the track at the back end of the season. "Hopefully we've learnt enough lessons over this year to during the winter improve on certain things, and come out fighting next season," said Scott. "Most of the old grandstands will be coming down and new ones will be built. "We're hoping to put a Honda motorcycle dealership down there, subject to planning, and upgrade all the buildings next year. "Speedway will still be the centre of Rye House stadium. "We're 100-per-cent backing speedway. I've actually very much enjoyed the time I have spent down there with the speedway riders and the fans. "I've enjoyed every minute of it and I'm very much looking forward to next year." But would that be alongside Len Silver? "Yes I think it will be," said Scott. "We've got to sit down learn and make sure Len's happy. Steve Jenson [scott's right-hand man at Rye House] has done a lot of work down there for me. "Much of my time takes me away from there because of the [british Touring Car Championship] racing. He looks after it at the weekends. "It's been a very tough year for everybody I think just getting used to everything, but we're fairly confident now which way we want to go and we've just got to make changes. "But I would just like to reassure everybody that speedway will still be at the heart of Rye House." Scott is sorry he won't be there to see the season-ending Pair of Aces meeting this Saturday (October 10, 7pm start) featuring one of the biggest names in the sport in this country Chris 'Bomber' Harris. "It unfortunately clashes with Brands [Hatch, the final BTCC rounds of the year] "We're very grateful he's coming and hopefully it will be a great night for the fans." http://m.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/Rye-House-stadium-owner-reveals-plans-future/story-27946797-detail/story.html

Should find out what's in store for next season next week... With the BSPA AGM starting next Saturday, the 17th October, The Vortex Hammers are inviting all supporters to a Fans Gathering in The Pavilion at the Orsett Hall Hotel on Thursday the 15th of October, starting at 8pm. The club will update fans first on the evening, with a statement to follow thereafter on our website. Hammers Co-Promoter Jon Cook commented As club owner Stuart Douglas has already said, talks are continuing and will do so right up until the AGM and it is totally correct that our fans are updated first with the facts and current situation, ahead of us informing our fellow Elite League members. We look forward to a full and frank discussion on Thursday when all questions will be answered about the clubs short and long term future and league membership. http://www.lakesidehammers.co/hammers-fans-forum-2/

Made me laugh when Mr McGregor was announced as the referee for Glasgow v Edinburgh last weekend: it was received with a chorus of groans from both sets of fans on the back streight -

Poor decision by Margret Vardy in Ht.12 to exclude Charles Wright, pushed Erik Riss wide, didn't touch hi & left him room (not much) Riss lifted & fell Possible 4-2/5-1 to 1-5 - Hope this doesn't decide the final result Cookies upgraded his 750cc to a 1000cc - Brilliant, no one can get near him -
Echo everything DavyH, Paulco & topsoil have written Not particularly intersted in any extra entertainment, but with so much going on, and great presentation it was fantastic. Entertainment as soon as one enters the stadium & no long delays, waiting for something to happen All other promoters should be forced to attend & learn how to present a meeting

Finally made it to Ashfield this season, after a rain-off & dodgy weather put me off a couple of weeks ago. Gorgeous day & what a wonderful stadium, presentation. Good luck to the Facennas, hope they can recoup their investment & more - wish speedway had more people like them Kind of Kevin Wolbert to miss this meeting (hope he has a quick recovery) - evens things up a bit now. Hoping for a last heat decider & may the best team win

My favourite is the 1983 British Final at Coventry & Dave Lanning asking Bruce Penhall, "Will your mate Kenny Carter win it tonight" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CKCO49a1oNs

Can understand Sheffield wanting this fixture on. If they agreed to the 24th and it was rained off (high probability this time of year) that would be 5 weeks without a home meeting!

Some great racing tonight; Bomber was superb, but hope he gates better on Monday. Thought we might keep it within 6pts, but, as usual, faded after the interval. Can't fault any of the riders for effort though, Bees just had the edge & the final score flattered them Best I've seen the track for quite a while, tempted to come again & see the Raiders on Friday instead of Somerset v Rockets You need to thank the Hammers stevebrum, we have saved your blushes by being officially worse than you -

Was on the Eastbourne website 1st September, Lynn website is extremely poor. If their press officer hasn't got the time, they should give the post to somebody else
