Poole Pirates 2021
Steve Shovlar replied to Pirates Of Poole's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Following the news that that Birmingham Speedway have temporarily suspended racing until July 1st, the Poole management would like to announce the following fixtures changes. With Birmingham due to have been the Pirates' next opponents at Wimborne Road on Wednesday 23rd June it means that there will be no meeting that week and likewise the trip to Perry Bar due this coming Wednesday (16th) has been postponed. Poole promoter Dan Ford said "having learned of Birmingham's predicament we are wholeheartedly sympathetic to their position, as they are under similar constraints to ourselves, as the current Covid restrictions on attendance has made it almost impossible for clubs to cover costs, something that every Promotion within the U.K are experiencing." As with all promoters, we are eagerly awaiting the next government announcement , due on Monday 14th June which will give us a clearer picture looking forward, but in the meantime we can confirm that our Knockout cup visit to Plymouth has been rescheduled to Tuesday 22nd June, a date that has become free following Birmingham's decision and our visit to Kent on Tuesday June 29th still remains. A decision on home fixtures at Wimborne Road will be announced once the Government provide their update on the roadmap out of Covid-19 restrictions. http://www.poole-speedway.com -
Brummies Season Halted |

How can there be a huge crowd at the cricket in Birmingham, but not allowed at speedway just up the road? -

Why? The club will run this season, I am guessing just not under the current situation of hugely limited attendances. -

Doubt very much Birmingham will be the last in making such an announcement. Better to suspend than go bust. -
What you think would happen if Zmarzlik was leading the GP series by a few points and the final round was at Cardiff. But the U.K. govt said because of high covid numbers in Poland, Zmarzlik cannot enter the U.K. oh well, never mind. There’s no precedent for moving events and he will have to try again next year? This really is totally unfair and a disgrace!

Other stream viewers had no streaming issues whatsoever. There was no commentary for the first four heats snd no graphics but that would have required extra staff and the feed would have cost much more. General feedback was good with room for improvement. A frozen stream could well be caused by local internet provider. Last night a couple said they lost the stream while others said not a glitch all evening other than comms at the start.

Just got in from a very good and entertaining meeting. Arrived in our group to find we had been allocated 6 seats in virtually our usual spot. Names we on seats. All very easy. Crowd steadily came in and all allowed seats in the stand were full. Of course the attendance was well down on usual numbers. Before the meeting Mark Weber was interviewed. Big fan of the sport and there to support the Aussies. Track was in tip top condition. Smooth, well watered and plenty of dirt. Lots of passing and last bend swoops. No interval, as no outlets open. What a debut for young Ben Cook. 13 points on his first ever meeting at Wimborne Road, which really should have been 15 but for Stefan Neilsens fall when we’ll clear in heat 14. Also a mention for Berwicks two reserves who stopped the meeting becoming a rout. They battled for every point with some determined team riding to keep Cook out on 2 occasions. For Poole. Hans was excellent. Zane struggled badly. Aggressive in his first but slow, then tailed off. Destined for reserve and needs more track time to work out the racing lines. Steve was excellent with some good passing moves. Stefan would have only dropped a point but overlooked and came down in heat 14 when we’ll clear. A 5-1 turned into a 1-5 in the rerun. Danny was solid. One impressive last bend swoop. Ben was rider of the night. Like a mini Steve Schofield. Not the best gater but hard into the first bend. Looks like a find and could be a future heat leader. Time will tell. Danyon tried every race but failed to score. Not through lack of effort> For Berwick. NBJ really disappointed. Expected much more than 6 from 5. Same goes for Etheridge. Been scoring well but awol tonight. Huge disappointment was Danny. Next to useless. Summers disappointed. Seem to be using that word a lot for Bandits heat leaders. Kyle Buckley take a bow. Mixing it, battling. Good for him. Leon Flint was top dog. Paid 13 from number 7 is a quite remarkable effort and these two reserved saved Berwick from a thumping. And they are young Brits as well. So Poole get 3 points and start to get used to the track. Think we. Ishtar see some thrilling racing at Wimborne Road this year one the teams gets proper dialled in.
