Clubs on a sound financial footing have been dragged down to the level of clubs living on a wing and a prayer. Some will say typical selfish Poole fan but they miss the point. If for example, Rye cannot afford the team they put together, then put out a team with Championship strength. When a big club comes to town it could be a bit of beat the big boys. Crowds will turn up to see it happen. The removal of a points limit will mean self policing. If a team discovers it can’t afford the team, out goes the 9 pointer and in comes a 4.5 rider. Promotions want to make a profit and it might take a season or two to get it right but it would stop the pandering to the weakest. Also bring back two British youngsters in the reserve berths. Worked well and totally wrong to be scrapped.

Well we have Jackobsen and Woryna at reserve with Covatti guesting for Klindt. Weather is set fair. Should be a great meeting let’s hope a decent crowd turns up.

Looks like Gavan has been banned again today judging by his couple of posts earlier on which have been deleted. MFF actually made a very good post on Gavan which resulted in a threat of violence.

No but we would have won tonight at least. Think the team were beaten when they realised Somerset had been gifted another heat leader in the team. Well done to Somerset who gave us the perfect lesson in gating in heats 2,3,4 and 5. If it wasn’t for Klindt managing to get up to second it would have been 4-20 in those heats. Somerset left us for dead over the first 20 metres. This happened earlier this season but recently our form has improved. We have ridden quite well recently taking bonus points away from home. So this is a disappointing result. Absolutely tons of dirt on the track tonight. Is that the problem? At least we saw Pirates battle back from 12 down to take it to a last heat decider. Trouble is no Chris Holder to beat Doyle. Brady tried and rode well tonight but Doyle is world champ. Woryna came good after two terrible first rides where he was searching for setup. Found it and was excellent. The trouble is we have a team of middle order riders. They are middle order for a reason. A good meeting followed by a poor one. They clicked together against Kings Lynn, but there’s always two or three in the team having a poor night on a different night, so no consistency. Heard rumours of a change for next week against Belle Vue. Have to wait and see. Congrats to Somerset on their passage through to the next round.
