lambert/king/harris/cook.....out of those 4, id suggest they are of similar standard, so it wouldn't matter who was reserve really? -

1st visit this year around july time when on holiday. looking forward to it -
agree, been on decline for a while, but there appears no sign of changing, frankly I only see it getting worse. think the GP and World cup works because it has lock-tite rules. League rules and teams are very flexible

I think all on here would like to see play off style commitment/crowds week in week out. I cant think of a sport that has lost over 50 to 70% of the crowd the way speedway has. its lost it in a period of weekly TV coverage (not as good as world of sport), but it is weekly.. There has to be an underlying reason for this, or did everyone just get fed up? double points, rider sharing, weakening of teams, GP introduction, multiple country leagues, value for money, team colours, stadium facilities, presentation? theres a whole host of reasons, but unless clubs get there gates back to 1,000 plus, this sport could become the next "british pubs" or "telephone box" in the next few years...extinct.

certainly recall mike lanham winning a couple of ht8s, that probably caused even more excitement when the opposing side thought they were going to get a cheap 5.1
-
I do think if any paying customer in any walk of life is unhappy with the product, he has his/her right to abstain. clearly TWK loves this sport, but this rule bugs him. for me I detest the rider sharing. its stupid, no other word for it. absolutely crazy to represent 2 clubs...guesting is a separate issue..

I watched from a club that rarely lost at home. (in those days). weekly heat 8 id see the big guns come in..i actually loved the tactical side of which a manager don't have to his disposal today. a manager also had a free hand with gates as well. but just because teams could throw in the big guns, it didn't really make one ounce of difference. we still won huge amount of home games 51-27 or 48-30, very rarely had tight finishes, and if we did have a tight finish, it was only cos the opposing side were pretty decent.. this rule of 6pts for a win always feel like the joker on its a knockout!...has it done anything to enhance league speedway? if you change a rule, then change it for the better
-
curious, I started goin in 71. never ever heard of anybody complain about the tac sub like I do this mickey mouse rule
-
why is the double fairer than the tac sub?
-
good old Tyson, the bbc lovey dovies clearly embarrassed he was there
-
who on earth was the person who came 2nd?..funny lewis Hamilton never got a place!

Predict The Final 2016 Pl Table!?

see both rye and scunny lot higher than on some of these lists. Newcastle/worky top 2 imo -
there are those riders that noticeably raise their game for big occasions. david ruud had a stormer when Sweden won the world cup, I believe peter ljung did in the same year against the odds, and Sweden did so yet again this year
-
with all the Autrey stuff, I decided to look him up, through you tube and google.he was riding in my era but only saw him at foxhall prob once a year. I see he was a lot better than I imagined from memory
-
yeah point taken, but having seen both for many years, I personally see john as quite a decent size gap better, but again its just an opinion
-
yep you are correct. neil Collins was decent, but probably even 4th in that family! behind phil/les and peter
-
if we are judging by achievement, chris is nowhere near john. john won world team cups/world pairs/blrc, none of which chris achieved, also higher league aves
-
how was that survey conducted please bw? im interested in the Louis result?
-
agree with you on this, I think there were some really good second strings. lets face it, no one out side the old british league div 1 would of made the british final in the 70s, whereas id say 70% are lower league. even Dave Morton, mike lanham, Ian Turner, Reg Wilson, Richard Hellsen, Dave kennett were all pretty decent with plenty I missed out hows chris Louis above john Louis?
-
I totally get Hancocks record and why you rate him top, he just bores me!......I know its not constructive in any-way, and his record puts him in legendary status, but I don't recall feeling that way when he rode for Coventry.
-
seen very little of scott autrey, from memory (may be wrong) think he rode for Exeter (?) but he don't stick in my head for being anything special, but good thing with you tube nowadays can re-live it
-
before we had speedway through our screens I guess our only opinions are what you saw on your own home tracks. hence, to me Mauger round Foxhall was mediocre at best, where as Olsen was awesome.
-
I guess you do have to judge on records. a better rider can often lose, but the record books only shows the winners..hence the debacle over the play offs!!
-
my opinion, I didn't rate either ermolenko or moran as highly as others do, but of the 2, I would say ermolenko.
-
fantasy land here, as it wont ever happen, but I think a one off final at Cardiff would certainly up the attendance, but as you say, reckon Poland would get it under the present day organisers
