  1. No speedway track in the uk can hold anything near what Cardiff holds. So maybe we should be happy sticking with Cardiff.
  2. There would be a result for that race, either as positions stood in the stopped race, or after a rerun. They decided on the rerun, no doubt because Kemp could have won it which presumably would affect semi final draw.
  3. They would have got points. They were deciding not to rerun the race but award points how they were when the race was stopped…. Or if they rerun the race and positions changed would those points have affected the two semi final draw positions. If that was a possibility then they would have to run the race again…..which they did but Kemp didn’t attempt a good start, so it made no difference anyway.
  4. Kvetch was stupid, if he waited just a bit longer he would have passed, even in 2nd spot he would still have won the meeting. He should have thought it out before the start. He clearly took the from t wheel away.
  5. Not the meeting, no. they trying to work out if the 20 needs to be run… looking at points for semi finals.
  6. That is unfortunate, in the lead, race stopped by caller, restart and he is on his back. heat 20 needs to be run, then stewards meet. I think it will be called off.
  7. Have you got Discovery+ entertainment AND sport. I sure I read Sky package is entertainment only UNLESS you subscribed to sport as well. why not try one of the links R&R has posted?
  8. I want to say “well done” to Tom Brennan and Leon Flint as meeting reserves. They got rides, both of them, and were not disgraced, and am sure they gained loads by the experience. And although it was not Robert Lamberts best meeting, his time will come, and soon. He is gaining experience, which Dan is still short off much more than Robert, obviously due to Robert having been at the upper level a couple more years than Dan. And whilst Tai had his own problems last night, how chuffed he must feel. He wanted to develop British riders in the Uk, his proposals turned down, so he has took the youngsters to Poland (Robert and Dan) and made racers of them. Can see Tom Brennan and others doing the same. another 18 months and perhaps Tom will be in Poland learning skills under the watchful eye of Tai.
  9. Discovery+ is £60 per year, has all the Speedway GPs, British Premier speedway, World Superbikes, world MotoX, loads of other motor sports, loads other sports (snooker), plus loads of other programmes and films. Beginning of this year the £60 was slashed to £30, they might do that again, and you could (may still do) a month trial…..time it right you could get 2 speedway GPs watched), plus, the events are available to watch again. You need to load the Discovery app. I got it on my iPad, a modern telly should load the app, my bedroom tv needs ROKU box (or Amazon stick etc) plugging in to be able to get the app. Picture quality top notch.
  10. Manchester City Council funded the BV track. That part of Manchester, east, has the ManCity football ground (built specifically for some athletic championships maybe 20 years ago) , and close to that the National Velodrome, plus lots of other sporting venues. Chris Morton and Dave Gordon worked hard for many years to get a speedway track that matched the original Hyde Road track…….the site is just a few hundred yards away (now a car auction site). The council came up with the land, it’s area to build on was already determined by a road, housing, school, other sports facilities. The stadium is the biggest it could be. I know how the term National a speedway Stadium was born, I suspect as the council was stumping up the £6 million to build it, and considering the area is a sports area of Manchester they may well have dictated it gets called National Speedway stadium. Whether he SCB or anything high up in speedway had anything to do with that I havnt a clue. The track, as we know, quickly became renowned as one of the best racing tracks in the world, which it is, no doubt or arguing about it……. In the top 5 if not the top 3. The track organisers knew this weekend the Cardiff track was going to take some heavy usage with SGP1 and SGP2 taking place Sat/Sun plus practice/qualifying. They surely would have thrown everything at the preparation of the base upwards to ensure it would cope. It didn’t. We saw that Vojens stood up to 5 meetings and practices….a permanent track. Personally, for me, last night sounded a death bell for temporary tracks. Apart from the probability of poor race surface, the tracks are too small for frequent opportunities to overtake. How long the Cardiff contract is for I don’t know, but I want to see the British GP on a permanent track, so no to Olympic stadium (London), no football stadium (Newcastle), just a permanent track where good racing can be achieved. If, at the moment, that means BV with its limited spectator space, so be it. There are now no speedway tracks in city centres, so stop “making tracks” fit what some spectators want (pubs) and give what ardent speedway racing fans want….. world class racing “out of top draw".
  11. I looked last night on Discovery+ to see when SGP2 started and I couldnt see it on upcoming listings. What time does SGP2 coverage start.?
  12. Well, it turned out to be a good meeting for Dan in as much he won. I was thinking with a field of top racers it was going to be a really good meeting, but the track scuppered that. Organisers are going to have forget about facilities a venue provides in terms of a city and concentrate what the event is for….. speedway racing. So congrats to Dan for winning and to Jack Holder for putting on such a good show, his time to win a GP can’t be far off.
  13. I wonder how many years on the contract to hold the gp in Cardiff.? With that field of riders that should have been a cracking meeting, alas it was far from it. They got to use Belle Vue, there will be more passes on one lap than the whole 23 races tonight at Cardiff.
  14. So it is up to the others to catch up and race him.
  15. I looking forward to tonight’s meeting. I don’t know why but I thinking it’s going to be a good meeting. I hope the track holds up for tomorrow….after all it’s a temporary track.
  16. Apparently whilst he got to Cardiff, his bikes didn’t. Then he used Max Frickes bike to do a slow lap of qualifying…… presumably he had to do that to satisfy rules or suppose he would not be allowed to start tonight. Hopefully his bikes will have arrived today. Can’t blame any of the other competitors lend him a bike to ride hard in qualifying, he may blow an engine or fall off wrecking it. So good of Max to lend a bike to do what I suppose the rules require……. enter the qualifying arena, which he did. I would imagine if Lebedevs can’t ride then Tom Brennan will get his rides as being first meeting reserve….. the meeting having started by the qualifying on Friday.
  17. Nice to see “proper” speedway bikes in action. Sorry to hear someone injured, hope they have speedy recovery.
  18. Holder and Dan got best times in qualifying, but they were flying laps. Saturday they need to gate and get to bend 1 first. I would like to think it possible.
  19. Silverstone only attracted 41,000 for Sundays MotoGP/2/3, down from about 80,000 last year. A few weeks earlier F1 got a full house. So bike racing crowd was down, down a lot. The racing is close, so is it the “Valentino Rossi retired syndrome” or something else. £90 entry on Sunday + £30 parking….. could be a put off, but it’s never cheap at MotoGP races. Maybe public are bracing themselves for the energy price rises coming in the next few months. So will be interesting what the crowds are like at Cardiff. Maybe speedway missed the opportunity to attract a younger generation some 20-30 years ago. That generation would now have kids of there own to bring along, but seems that the chance was missed or mis-managed. To the Dean Machine….. where in the north east would you suggest is capable of holding a GP, taking into account the costs, venue suitability and anticipated crowd needed.
