Date Of Cardiff Gp 2006
SCB replied to sirmatty's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It's being announced on Sky tonight. -
Exaclty right. The only reaosn I quote what I did was to save KK and Tony Steele a load of hastle from the people on this forum. They did NOTHING wrong. Thier hands, sadly, were tied and you have to feel sorry for both really. One has been made to look foolish ebcause of stupid rules and one is having his World title rubbished by a few and I guess understandably so. I'm only glad it was KK who won it and not Suchanek as had Suchanek won ti there woudl be a lot more moaning as he is not really good enough to be Champion, atleats KK was one of the 2 the likely winners anyway.

Well as some who drives a BMW and drove a VW clone until recently, there's a big difference. Infact, you drive a Seat Ibiza/Cordoba and then drive a VW Polo (probably shares 95% of the parts), tell me it's the same! There's a difference in quality. The same applies to speedway and the Rallying. There was a definate change in qualifty between the two and it was the rallying that was of greater quality. For a start it lasted from 5.30 to gone 9 with almost non-stop entertainment (tho I did find the flying car bloody boring!), including a stunt guy trying to drive the ciruit on two wheels and rolling the car onto it's side What do we get at Cardiff? Some old past it band/singer miming (just stick the bloody CD on if you have to), the Samba ants and erm, yeah! I do think the speedway is good value compared to football (but they fill up thier stadiums so can justify charging that much, seems Chelsea cannot justify there peices this season) but compared to the rallying, it is scandelous! Compared to PL/EL prices it's also a bit expensive. TBH, EL/PL prices are too high compared to the rallying prices!
-
Well the price here in the UK have been £10(14E) for the SS stage in the Millenium Stadium (you could pay more, no idea what you gained tho) and then £15(22E) or £20(30E) for the rest. The service park was about £5(7E) from memory. I don't think the price is too bad TBH, not compared to other sports. With each ticket, you get a programme, which is ok until you go to a few stages
-
Why are we paying £27(?)? Yesterday I went to the Wales Rally GB stage in the same stadium and it cost £20 for me and my dad to get in and we got a programme. We coudl have also take in 4 kids nder the age of 16 too for no extra cost. The bottom tier was unused, the middle tier was full and the top tier was probably as full as for the speedway. So there were not as many people there. So less people paying less and it was still profitable? Then on top of that, today, people could go in for the presentation/to see the car in parc ferme FREE OF CHARGE! We are clearly being ripped off if they can charge £10 for a World rally stage!

The FIM rule say you only have to complete 50% of heat for the result to stand, they could NOT re-run it. Rule 070.11.4 of the Track Racing Appendices 070.11.3 Ties Individual Speedway and Ice Racing When establishing the order between the riders in the list of INTERMEDIATE results, ties will be solved as follows: a) Precedence will be given to the riders (tied on points) having the most number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (5th or 6th where applicable) placings (an “0” for last placing being better than M-R-F-T-d-N). If the tie still persists and involves only 2 riders, precedence will be given to the best placed rider in the heat where the 2 riders met. c) If the tie still persists and involves more than 2 riders, it shall be checked wether there is a possibility to determine a proper precedence (i.e. 3 riders tied on points: A, B, C: rider A has beaten rider B rider A has beaten rider C rider B has beaten rider C Then the precedence will be: best position for rider A, then rider B and then rider C. d) If solutions a), and c) cannot be used, the order shall be determined by ballot. Seems the rules were adhered to. Well Done KK.

Vince, while I can see that side of things, my points, as I then went onto, was that the expenses come out fo the "wage". It'll just eb swings and roundabouts. If people want, I'm sure the promoters would pay £1.15/mile rather than 15p, but they'll probably just pay the riders a few £/point less to make up for the extra cost. Or add £2 to the entrance fee
-
About travelling expenses. I get none for my job, so why shoudl a speedway rider? Surely, if you increase the travelling expenses, the promoters will just pay a little less in points money/guarentees? Plus, can you really see the promoters agreeing to give MORE money to the riders?
-
You beat me to it. Bloody joke. They do some good work in week with there highlights from the few days prior to the meeting they were showing and then ruin it by failing to show the riders on the podium!! HOW ANNOYING!!!

Italian Grand Prix - Lonigo
SCB replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
......as Matej Zagar said after heat 20 He's a madman on a bike who does not think twice about wiping someone out. -

I think AJ was a little unlucky there. There was definate contact between him and Crumpy. Still, makes it easier for Scott Nicholls. C'mon Scotty Grachan, Just checked, Nicki and Leigh each had one score of 20 but Nicki has 2 16's to Adams' single score of 16. So I'm guessing Leigh needs a top 2 place here. As a result, I hope Crumpy comes 3rd now, not often I cheer on Adams over Crump but I'll make an exception if it drops Nicki back to 4th -

What happens now if Leigh comes 3rd or 4th, there is a tie for 3rd over all. I'm guessing it the rider who has had the best result/most wins, seconds, thirds..... In which case, who is it? -
Fair enough, I think a group of fans should be involved. I agree that the promoters would have biggest say, then the riders then the fans/Sky. I'm sure very few would agree with that order

No, the opposite infact. Shows how open the GP has been and shows that all riders have been beating all others. TR has been in a class of his own. Crumpy and AJ have been in the next class and the rest have all been similar. TBH, I think Scott Nicholls has been up there, just been a little silly/unlucky. -

I was saying that earlier to my dad. Nicki has come across as the far more impressive of the two over the whole series. That said, Nicki had a duff GP last time (I think), Cardiff and now tonight, so he's not been that good TBH. -

Someone tell the comentators how wrong they are!! They said if Lee wins the heat that Scott could go through. HOW? Lee would go through? Still, nice one Nicki, buggering it up and letting Scotty through. C'mon Scotty (or Lee if he beats TRick!!) -

I don't think so. Why have a wide track if a heat is re-run when a rider goes past the half way mark? It was harsh but I don't think it was a re-runable heat. -

I'd describe this as a pretty good GP. 7/10 so far. -

Zagar was lucky in an unlucky kind of way there. He could have clipped Hans' back wheel and high sided it. -

Did Adams right with a bit of agression then? He certainly seemed to be moving AJ a little wide on my tele! -

Why can't they play quicker? Why did they goto a break when they have another programme being delayed?! Anyone know how long this will take to comeplete? Not too long I hope or we're going to miss part of the meeting! -
You have 800, Newport have 400, Workington have 2000, Poole have 2,500. Is an average of 1425 I did say AVERAGE. I guess I could go to every track and count the exact number of people, count there wallets and purses as they enter the stadium and count them again as they exit and see exactly how much people spend at spedway. Is it only £10 to get into Glasgow, or a little more? Don't you have challenege meetings too? What about a track shop where a little more money is spent?
