Italian Gp Not On Sky Tonight?
SCB replied to davidba's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why? I thought Sky Sports extra was available now from cable companies. If you're too tight to get digital and prefer to be stuck in the dark ages with analogue, thats not our fault -
Hang on. I make it say an average of 1,500 fans per meeting, at £10 a person is £15,000 per meeting from the fans. ONE EL team is is 18(meetings) X £15,000 and there are 10 teams. In the PL it's 20 (or 21) meetings for 14 teams. So in PL, PT, EL it's £15,000 X 10 X 18 and £15,000 X 14 X 20. TOTALS = 2.7 million for the EL and 4.2 million for the PL fans. TOTAL = £6.9 million. Thats not including play-offs, KoC, PT later rounds or Craven Sheild either. Do Sky pay 6.9+ million pounds per season? I doubt it. So the fans pay more so if by your reasoning, Sky give a bit of cash they deserve a say, the fans deserve an even bigger say.

What woud I like to see? A plan where they agree NOT to change the bloody rule for 5 years. Even if they are stupid. We need consistency. At worst we need slight tweaking. Obviously, to do that, we need a whole new rule book and someone (a group of people? Riders, fans, managers, promoters, referees, SKY) should be working on this NOW!

Yes, wilcards suck, qualifiers rule! Nicki Pedersne DID NOT qualify for the GP's the year he was World Champion, he was a nomination. Yet Chrzanowski is naff this season and in the past various other qualifies have been naff by GP standards. Nominations, if done fairly are much better. Sadly, it looks liike Bjerre and Iversen will lose out simply because of their nationality! I won't "admit" it as it's not true. Do you honestly, really believe that Lee Richardson is not one of the top 15 rider in the World? Ok he may not be one of the top 8 but he IS one of the top 15 riders. Prehaps we should only have riders in the GP who have a genuine chance of being World Champion, that wuodl be fun, TR vs Crumpy vs Naughty Nicki every other week for 25 heats!!

Could Have Been So Much Better!
SCB replied to Trees's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Prehaps Adams was sleeping?! If that was a naff meeting by Bydgoszcz standards, prehaps newer tracks built in the country should be made big, flat and wide. -
But will the replacements be capable of finishing in the top 8? What BETTER riders are there that currently don't have a GP place? Personally, I kick out Sullivan, he's past it now at GP level and I'd get rid of Chrzanowski. The rest should stay, replacement wise I'd have Zagar and Iversen in. Possibly Bjerre.
-
Why do you have to be top 8 to justify your place in the GP? Just because you're 11th means you're not good enough eh? Well excuse me but I thought the GP was about the best 15 riders in the World and a wildcard and for me, Nicholls and Richardson ARE 2 of the top 15 rider in the World so both should be back, regardless of thier ability to finish in the top 8. What do you guys want from the GP riders?15 rideras who can all finish int he top 8? Well I have news for you, 7 rider will ALWAYS miss out, doesn't mean they're not good enough to ride in a GP.

Nice one Lee -
Well Done TR. I feel it's a bit of a anti-climax as we all knew it was coming, it would have been so much better had he done it in the last GP with someone else having a real chance of sneaking it from him.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Lee Richardson is mentally a far better rider than Scott Nicholls. Scotty has gone into semi-finals before now as one of the favourites and messed up, however, tonight, Lee went into the semi as a rank outside and pulled off a greta win and has now made a final. Go Lee!!! -
Under 15's V Under 16's, August 26th, Somerset
SCB replied to Readiefan's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Tonight was the first time I have seen these youngster compete. Joshua Auty reminded me of Tony Rickardson. I was impressed with allt he juniors, they all looked like they could do a job in the CL already! -
Speedway Star, page 8. If Adams' helmet is green, I'm Tony Rickardsson!

I'll be there for this one. I hope Sam (and Vince) do get there! -
A more apt title is "useless polish referee number 2" as this year we have seen 2 useless referees in the GP's and SWC!

Why? Puk is better in the few GP's he had rode in. Puk has a higher Danish League average. Bjerre is marginally higher in the EL. Puk is better in the Swedish League. Puk scored more in the SWC round they both rode in and got picked ahead of Bjerre by his own team manager in the other. So apart from being slightly better in the EL, how is Bjerre better and more deserving of a GP place than Iversen? Lets not forget, Bjerre is a boring gating tart who will bring very little to the series compared to Puk who is an exciting racer. Obviously, both should be in the GP really but I think it's a case of one or t'other. -

I do hope Hans' GP days are over (ignoring the fact I really dislike the guy) so that Puk gets a chance. -
No, watch the replay and you'll see Gollob makes contact with Pedersen NOT Pedersne makes contact with Gollob. VERY VERY different.

Yeah, 3rd, pretty good How many riders would give their right arm for a 3rd? Let be fair, at one point, he looked destined to be back home in bed by the time the final was over he looked so bad so 3rd was a good result. It's hard to believe this was TR's worst GP this season! Personally, I have enjoyed this season GP's and I thought this was one of the better ones. The last few heats were brilliant, the Hans vs Lindback "fight" was good, Nick vs Tomasz was good until Tomasz threw the bike down, Crump and Gollob was another good 'un. Steve, TR only needs 4 points, so 3rd place is far more than he needs. I think by his 2nd heat he will be World Champion and I don't think it's unfair to expect him to finish in the top 3 again, if he can look so average in a GP but still get 3rd, you have to fancy him to be on a high next GP by the time he wins the title that he'll be unbeatable.

Jason Crump!!! I said before the start that it was do or die, my sister said he'll do it and then I said but AJ is in there and she was all confused, who does she pick? Her two favourite riders. After a lap it was clear who she wanted to win, she was shouting for Crumpy!!!! Do or die, and he's still alive! That was a phenominal ride. Not that it means much, TR only needs 4 points in the final 2 rounds, Tony should easily get 4 points from 10 rides. "Are TR and Jason a class apart?" asks Millard. Well Mr M, TR and Jason are so far ahead of the rest it's scary and then of course The Big T is so far ahead of Jason it's even scarier. Also a big well done to AJ, one of only 2 riders to beat The Big T in a GP final this season. Finally, you would think Tony, having come 3rd, sat i a Ferrari could crack a smile, he looked liek someone had just give him a slap! -
