I was saying somethign similar to dad. He ALWAYS ups his riding for Team GB, has without a doubt been Team GB's best rider in the SWC since it's formation. He even managed to get a pass or two in when riding for Team GB I like Lee.
-
Didn't Chris Louis claim his kevlars were the problem at the 2000 WTC? Along with a couple of the other Brits so they went and chnaged out of their Team GB kit and put on their usual kevlars. Shazzy, you are "older" than 16 though

I think Newport is available any day of the week, obviously the track has to be prepared for race day so thats not entirely true. Contact numbers? There's isn't one!!

Looking 9 has it's advantages. Cheaper entrance to speedway for a start

No thanks. I wouldn't want Crumpy either (even if I do like him). If we're not good enough for them to start their international career with, we don't want them IMO. Even so, they'd have to be proper Brits, not fake ones like Holta is a fake Pole. At least if Crumpy had never rode for Australia and rode for us, he'd be British because of Birth, how is Holta Polish?

It did. 2001 when Paul Hurry was injured and GB had to use there tac subs to replace him, it mean Neil could do nothing tactically and we had no chance.

Me and Jill tooted and waved! You guys don't realise how long it took for someone to take that photo of me and Lanzilla, I think someone has a nasty sense of humour

"You Make Us Proud"
SCB replied to TheStartTart's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why save thge Queen? and why should "God" whatever that is, do the saving? It's a totally stupid National Anthem and when Land of Hope and Glory was being belted out, that made people take more notice and is a much better anthem. Does anyone care about the queen and how many people are religious these days? -
Gb Team In The Final
SCB replied to seanisnumber1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I like Joe, he is one of my favourites BUT Loram has to replace him. TBH, it would not suprise me to see Joe step down. -
WOW!! So he's a gating tart? Yet he passed Nicki Pedersen, on the outside.

Loram Out Stead In!
SCB replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Having thought a little about this, prehaps this is what Tema GB have needed, the chance to blood the youngsters, with the exception of Screen, we could be about to see the Team GB team of the next 5-10 years. Stead and Bomber are currently in the best form of their careers and the SWC is on a track they both like (Petrborough would have been better though!). Everything has just fallen into place for these two guys, lets hope it just continues to do so. Look at Sweden a few seasons ago, TRick pulled out of the final with concussion and everyone thought they were dead and burried, along come them youngster David Ruud and Peter Ljung (who had done nothing up to then and nothing since!) and scored wel for them and took them to the title. Norris needed a SWC to realise his potential, prehaps Bomber and Stead need it too, just to take them to the next level, in some ways it's a shame David Howe is not involved too, instead of Joe Screen, he needs some new insentives, a SWC place might just be what he needs. -

Why not go on holiday? It's not as if he can't get back in time. -
Lets Get Behind Our Boys!
SCB replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm all for ant flags that show support to the Team GB riders, I have no problem with the riders being English, I just don't like the team being called English as if there was a decent enough Welshman (or Scotsman) they'd be riding too so the team si not England. I think I'll take my Joe Screen banner -

Steve has it spot on, back to Brits, not your favourites. I'll be there giving Team GB my support (until they're called England by one of the riders or management!) -
The one I did last season is floating around cyberspace. If you want I'll email it to you, it does the maths for you or if you prefer prints off on 2 pages for you to fill in and do the maths yourself.

Didn't Sweden have to go to the race off the first year they won it?
-
Free broken ankle thrown in too. Prefer not to venture around there myself. I like the 4th bend or in front of the patio on the home straight, coming out of the 4th bend.
-
No, we had 6.8 to replace Colesy but if you think back to when Colesy first took time out, we had 7.2 and Tim could not find anyone. It's ok saying we have 7.5(sic) bu who is available? Jason King on 5ish is the only rider I can think of.
-
Like Scott Smith, Kujawa, Ondrasik, Gustaffsson..... Korneliussen (negated by Coles and Lund!!!!) It no good building for the future every year as it means what you gain from last season future rider you lose by this season future rider. Now IS the time to bring in a rider for Wato and this would be a good move by Tim, provided this rider is any good.

Australian Swc Team For Rd 1 Named
SCB replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why will Travis be a mainstay yet Wato won't? AFAIK, Travis is about 3 years younger and has not improved since his second season (actually 2000 was his best season over here!). I can't see him being a regular, mind you, I don't know who will be. Crump, Shields, Watt, Schlein, Bathelor, Trav may get a chance. Personally, I think Trav should drop into the PL, I've always been a fan of his (remember feeling sorry for him in hsi first Sky meeting ) and he was brilliant at Newport on Sunday. -

Czech Grand Prix - Prague
SCB replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Didn't see the heat where Mark Loram was finally crowned World Champion then? i'm sure Joe Screen shut off on the second bend. Not to mention about the same time (maybe the year before) that Havvy needed apoint in the intercontinental final and fell on the 1st bend, so when Martin Dugard on the last bend knew he could not qualify, he pulled onto the centre green so Havvy got the point and qualified for the GP Challenge. We have been in postions to do it and have done it, every country does it and always will. You can't beat Gollob (Poland) team riding with Povazhny(Russia) to keep Max (Sweden) out in the 2003(?) SWC. It failed on the last lap but to be fair he tried, amazing!!! -
Will We Ever Have A British World Champ Again
SCB replied to sully1202's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why do you need to be hitting the finals to get a GP place, I thought u had to be in the top 15 riders in the World. Are you seriously claiming Scott is not one of the top 15 riders in the World? -

SCB replied to sully1202's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well I think tnoght showed he is a GP rider and I see no reason why he will not still be in the GP's in the ext 5-10 years time while we wait for the next kid to get there. Lewis Bridger, yeah right!! David Howe had an 11+ CL average in 1997, he only droped points to punctures and broke chains. I'm sure one or two riders beat him, look at him now, a PL second string/heatleader with little chance of being World Champion and slightly better chance of being in the GP's Please tell em you don't mean Billy Legg?! Yes he is a reasonable rider, a 5.5 CL rider in his second season but see what I have just said about David Howe. If he was going to be a GP rider (not even World Champ), he'd be in the PL by now. He might one day ride in the EL but realistically, Pl heatleader at best, not that it's a bad thing. I'm sorry but right now NO rider looks like a future World Champion, we have no Under 21 rider who is riding in the EL as a heatleader, that said, it's not impossible, who realistically thought Loram would be World Champion until 1999/2000-ish? Even then it was not that likely until it really happened. With regards to James Wright, he seems to be a sensible kid who does not drink and keeps himself in reasonable condition but it's too early to tell if he is a likely World Champion.
