Ipswich vs Peterborough June 6th 7.30pm

Can we please not turn a thread for a speedway meeting into an argument about politics.....there’s already 8700000000000000000000 avenues of the internet to debate and argue about the bunch of t055ers!!! so king, bellego, Heeps and coty can take a ride for KP r/r Heeps could be a busy boy tonight me thinks -
Fair point, I guess the problem is predominately on Swindon this year then as they chose to build their team top heavy with distinctly weaker reserves - tough on those boys racing their socks off week in week out for little return. cant blame other sides for choosing strength in depth - and to be fair much of our success at Ipswich thus far this season has been due to the strong reserve pairing.
-
I agree its no good for the young lads confidence riding top flight before they’re ready. Is it not the point of the rule they brought in this season that to ride in the top flight you must have achieved at least a 4.5 average in the championship first - stopping drew kemp for example from being eligible for a top flight spot before gaining further experience. obviously the likes of zach and Shanes have done this but still seem far out of their depth at the top level so perhaps it needs to be even higher? It’s a tough one as others progress much quicker - Dan Bewley for example.

Would’ve tried to get Kenneth Bjerre in as a guest if I was panthers management after his big haul at Foxhall the other week! Maybe he’s riding on the continent? Should be a comfortable home win imo tungate and Bates won’t get enough from 3 & 5 positions for panthers to challenge. I’ll concede it’ll be one of the stronger away reserve pairings to visit us this season both can go well at Foxhall so they could keep it closer if properly utilised. weather could be factor in track conditions and or the meeting even being on, looking rather unsettled next couple of days and keeps changing when and how much rain forecast to hit Ipswich. -
I think bomber kept it on in the knowledge that Max is ordinarily a hard but fair rider - had it been pedersen, Lindgren he’d have got off the gas knowing they’re likely to smash him in the fence if he didn’t. Imo it was over the top and I would be saying the same if it was the other way round and an ipswich rider had made that move. I don’t think there was malice in the move, and I’m sure max would much preferred to have finished the race than cause a crash and get excluded, he wasn’t in front he was alongside by at most half a length in front and chose to run that close to the fence - he didn’t have to he chose to which caused the crash - he came across bomber and ran him into the fence - bomber was already there his line didn’t deviate so Max was correctly excluded for being the cause of the incident. people saying oh well they do it in Poland and just get on with it is no excuse to me, have you seen some of the crashes in polish league lately?? Namely the Emil and buszckowski crash at the weekend? Absolutely frightening and completely avoidable. heeps had a superb race with Rory Schlein at Foxhall a few weeks ago getting the better of him finally with a last gasp burn round the outside - when asked about the race afterwards he said “it’s great fun racing closely and hard with someone like Rory as you know it’s going to be hard but fair, you can trust him he’s not gonna try and kill ya!” Surely that’s the sentiment we’d like riders adopt not just “oh I’m half bikes length in front on the back straight get off the throttle or I’m gonna ride through your front wheel into the fence!” theres a lot of Belle Vue fans leaping to the defense of Fricke in this incident but had it been an away rider doing that to a home rider I feel confident you’d be up in arms calling him a dangerous and dirty rider.
-
Can’t blame him but it’s just another instance highlighting the conflict of interest when one person owns three clubs in the same league - imo it’s farcical. I don’t think realistically we were in for cook anyway, we were always sticking with our 7 but had we of been looking to try and do a deal with Craig the fact buster also wanted him at Lynn means we’d have had no chance of making that signing.
-
Let’s face it though, if he was available and willing to go to Kings Lynn then buster never would of let him come to us over them - he’ll always put Lynn first
-
Nicholls guested for Kurtz and scored 11 at Poole and 9+1 at Ipswich so cant see how that was the difference in either meeting.....next excuse
-
Inclined to agree it’s our weak point away from home, but if Harris reaches peak form come the playoffs as he did for Poole last season then who knows! Good meeting all the way through, mostly hard but fair racing bar the Fricke Harris incident. Pleased for Stevie that he’s getting back the form he showed before that bad leg break. Wells letting the aces down badly need to find someone who’s quicker around the nss. Pleased with a point, glad to see Jake back and come through the meeting unscathed and everyone pitched in. up the witches just keep proving those doubters wrong!
-
What is Fricke doing??? He nearly killed them all including his team mate the lap before!! Desperate move, he’s not normally a dirty rider but that was over the top, they’re both fortunate not to be badly hurt
-
Or the witches continue to prove everyone wrong, they’re continually being written off despite having already beaten every other team in the league...!? Stranger things have happened! on paper for sure it’s going to be tough for us to get anything out of the meeting Belle Vue are very good at home but hey I guess I’m a glass half full guy so I’m still hopeful we can keep it close and take at least a point away

So many seem to get hung up on passing - maybe, just maybe those that make starts are the slightly better riders too! Close racing can be just as good to watch without a pass! moto3 is always good entertainment, them boys are all out warfare! Throw the bikes at each other from every which way! -

how would this counter the risk and reward element?? darcy ward was quoted as saying recently at the time of his career ending he was earning 3 x as much in sweden and 7 x as much in poland as he was in uk, capping the uk earnings doesn't affect how they're getting in poland -

imo its the bikes are the problem these days, they're revving so high with so much power it makes them so unpredictable on grippy surfaces its so hard to control, often it doesn't matter how good your throttle control is if you're turning tight and get a handful of grip you're soon just a passenger! watching jake allen so far this season his throttle and overall bike control imo is top notch - he's similar in style to rory schlein in that neither ever look like they're fighting the bike, always smooth and controlled however hard they're racing - yet exactly what I've explained above happened to jake last week on the top turn at foxhall. the bikes are far more suited to big wide open smooth and slick tracks where its all about building speed and momentum rather than racing down a straight and then standing the bike up turning tight and scrubbing the speed off like in england - problem with slick tracks love here is the corners/tracks aren't big enough that the riders can maintain speed through the bends and build the momentum - belle vue is....and what do you know its the best track in the country! the surviving english tracks aren't really fit for purpose for the modern machinery - the bikes have changed massively in past 10-20 years yet the tracks haven't moved with them to be more suited, and the bikes haven't been adapted or aren't that well adapted to english tracks. -
I do agree, Craig on a 7.00 at Foxhall is too good an opportunity to miss in my opinion, and I agree david is miles off at the moment and a change there could be good. i guess in my earlier post I was merely saying down the years louis’ loyalty to riders is admirable while other teams without mentioning names seem to consistently chop and change for the sake of it and end up having had 12/13 riders by the end of the season
-
I would think you’re right, in fairness to Chris Louis and Ipswich on the whole we’ve always been a club that’s loyal to our riders which is a positive trait not negative, riders are people trying to earn a living at the end of the day, but as fans we want to see success! It’s a tricky balance to find. i guess the argument for sticking with the current crop is we were suggested to be wooden spoon candidates before the season kicked off and we’re top of the league having not really all fired yet and if anything have dropped points in both league and cup having been in with a shout of winning pretty much every meeting we’ve ridden thus far! Despite being an advocate for change I can also say I do think both bomber and barry are better riders than we’ve seen so far.
-
I’m not actually sure there is! From what I can from those available currently in championship and not doubling up best options are Pickering, Douglas, Vissing, rasmus Jensen imo out of those I think I’d lean towards Douglas he’s always ridden Foxhall well! the other option of course is someone not currently riding in the uk.... I think there would be a few options of riders at a similar grade to KP that could in theory come in on a 6.50 like he did..... but you’d have thought if they’re willing to commit now they would’ve been at the start of the year!!?? Prezdpelski maybe? Perhaps woryna or gomolski? huckenbeck or smolinski? porsing? Realistically you’ve got to be looking at those available already riding here!
-
Stood on the terraces last night watching luke Becker ride at our place for the first time and said to my dad that lads gonna win wolves the league, they’ve got the next best top 5 after Swindon and a proper trump card reserve.
-
Cook and kennett would be good but Kennett would be 6.93 so only rider other than Harris he could come in for currently is Lawson average wise and he’s not someone that needs to go.
-
And not only that, unlike Harris cook is actually consistently good on our home track!!

I’d just like say amidst all the negativity of those that really aren’t doing the business, (of which I know I’m contributing to) Cameron was superb tonight, as was king. Pieszczek I thought after his early misdemeanour rode fantastically well to his 3 paid wins and is getting better and better! So well done to those three boys! Lawson started well and faded a bit but 7 points isn’t bad for an ok night! -
