  1. Don't think town got anywhere near 1000 at games, only won once all year and nearly folded mid season
  2. Guess we have to wait for the fixtures coming out, but would be happy to run may to end of August, every 2 weeks, then if qualified, play offs in September, before the weather turns unlike last year when still trying to run final at very end of October
  3. Imo for a new beginning of the comets around 10 home meetings is ok, a meeting every couple of weeks at home away matches in-between, got to remember some of the riders in this league will be riding in the championship and will not be available every weekend, also sometimes less is more, and probably more affordable to people every couple of weeks especially in the current financial climate
  4. Probably similar crowd levels, but paying less out at championship level, so the fords make more money??
  5. Just had a look at championship fixtures, Redcar, Glasgow, Berwick etc seem very spaced out, weeks without home meetings , lot of fans not happy with the fixtures on this forum , maybe comets will get a few fans from these tracks to swell the crowd ?
  6. Top prize £20 not enuf to split. Not a bit of wonder rye house/lakeside closed, if that was the top prize for a 50/50 draw, think the comets fans bought most of the tickets as well
  7. But I did not win the money !!! But was there and was not enuf prize fund to buy 4 pints at Southern prices niver mind buying a round
  8. Question for people in the know THG maybe, is there plans for a clubhouse bar/food outlet, maybe port a cabins, like Redcar or scunny ? Fans can meet have a drink/food putting profits back into the club, I know it's still a few months till season starts but would be good to know
  9. Can we keep Glasgow and Cammie knickers out of this comets post, even if it's funny they can't win a trophy
  10. Been about in the pits for years, mechanic for many riders, more info on website, think the treble winning team manager is looking forward to being just a fan after being involved with running the comets for many years
  11. Just seen on club website some new merchandise is on its way. geoff100 you will be able to replace your old tee shirts that have shrunk in the wash
  12. Part of this road got resurfaced when a new bridge got put in over the railway, was used as a diversion for dock traffic which ended up coming out opposite Asda, all since dug up wot a waste of money
  13. Take away the no lights issue . then we have Friday will be a no go as some of the comets or away side will be riding in the championship, so can't ride for 2 teams on the same night, and mr Godfrey does not like Workington to run on Fridays Sundays are when a lot of the under 21 etc meetings are ran, so some of the riders may be missing from home or away team, so that leaves Saturday afternoon, so roll on the new season UTC give us a C
  14. Reds football season will finish at the beginning of May, speedway will probably start at beginning of may due to only having 6/ 7 home league meetings, then reds start again mid August by which time speedway league meetings will be about finished, then if in playoffs or ko cup these could be arranged to avoid a clash with the reds, I know people are debating right or wrong with Saturday afternoon, but can we keep positive and look forward to the rebirth of the comets and back Andrew Bain and co in this venture ( I have no connection with them ) UTC
  15. No floodlights so for now got to be Saturday (or Sunday) afternoon
  16. At the moment Saturday afternoon due to no floodlights, plenty of info and reason's on here if you have a look through
  17. Didn't know you were a Poole fan Geoff Happy new year marra UTC
  18. Because last season had 2 more teams 1 home 1 away meeting, but still dispite what was one of the best summers ever. The season struggled to finish in 2st week of November.. Also IMO in these financial hard times , less is more, maybe have regular meetings every 2 weeks at home, through May to mid August then run play offs August bank holiday weekend .
  19. Agree it must be hard work to keep the speedway star in print, but several people I know still buy the speedway star and have not been to a meeting in the UK for many years since their team folded
  20. No problems marra, just Jenga has form of winding up people the wrong way, no offence to you Jenga either
  21. Jenga. Be careful you don't upset this person, as I think he could be a parent of one of the young comets
  22. I hope the supporters return and back the rebirth of the comets, but IMO some of the newer supporters of speedway in the modern times were attracted by big names, whether riding for or against the comets, and this is a reason why I say, I hope they get speedway at this level, in the past when some of these kids were riding development/northern junior league at Derwent park the majority of the crowd had gone home, now some of those kids are riding for the comets hope this does not sound doom and gloom, but just saying as I see it, after following speedway every year since 1970 in the UK and Europe, more so in the 80's and 90's after the comets died in 1981
  23. Why is Poole on premiership page, you've got enough space on championship page for all your comments
