  1. Terry still owns Swindon speedway 2013 ltd and is part of the swindon motorsports company charged with securing a new venue for aforementioned.this plan has been cooked up by the land owner Clarke Osborne to ensure a smooth transition to a housing estate on the whole site If you read the update I posted you can see what a mess the council has made
  2. Latest update if anyone interested https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/24062597.council-considers-action-abbey-stadium-housebuilder/
  3. I don’t know if this helps ? https://historicengland.org.uk/content/docs/legal/appeal-decision-oxford-stadium/
  4. FYI. The cost of purchasing the site from the current owner is not factored into the above assessments. Whilst the Council resolved on 14 December 2022 to 'explore options available to bring Brandon Stadium back into use' this has not been acted upon. There is no evidence before me that the Council would consider compulsory purchase. At the Inquiry I heard from a supporter of SCS, that he was prepared to purchase the site and fund the necessary works to secure its reinstatement. He was also proposing to act as promotor for stock car racing at the stadium. Whilst this is very positive, the actual costs of reopening the stadium are uncertain, as is the level of other sponsorship and how much financial risk would be involved. Just watching the news ,councils are cash strapped so doubt they’ll have any spare, the euro millions Friday is the best chance.
  5. That’s the charade they would have you believe.
  6. Did it jog your memory then ? like you i couldn’t believe that anyone with any speedway nouse would not want JD in their team as he is a class act. I miss not seeing him ride for Swindon any longer.
  7. I think you’ll find that most would prefer to see the stadium back in use rather all the vandalism etc since 2016. Why so negative about this great news ?
  8. Credit also to Helen Hockenhull for coming to this decision and allowing the fight to continue
  9. Well here’s one for you ! Plenty more like that if you care to look
  10. Interesting to hear the assessments made good and bad of the Oxford Spires. Can Magic recapture his form (When JD signed for Ippo there were a few of their fans who said he was finished would they say that now),how long will it take Bomber get dialled in (I don’t remember him struggling around sandy lane across the last 2 seasons) and so on . While they’re maybe a few doubts I know that we are in for an exciting season across all three leagues and I can’t wait.
  11. Well said that man, perhaps Chicken Little will give an assessment of the other sides for fairness
  12. And there speaks the prophet of doom, might as well throw the towel in now me thinks.
  13. No doubt it was, just as Monmore green,Owlerton,Crayford et al were there before the stadia named after them.
  14. I was replying to a comment someone made referring to the fact that one of the house styles on the Swindon Stadium housing development was named The Owlerton. I merely stated that there were others named after former stadia that once hosted speedway ie Monmore,Crayford, and Shawfield that’s all.
  15. The shawfield is a house style on the development along with all the others mentioned that’s all.
  16. These are just a list of the pathetic names( as a nod to its former status as a speedway )given to the shoe boxes by the developers of the carpark that’s all.
  17. How about the Monmore,Crayford, and Shawfield as well.
  18. Good luck with that we've been waiting several years but he never seems to make it (maybe he don’t like parties anymore)
  19. I get what you are saying, but when the parking agreement was in place and the meeting ran over then no pcn would have been issued. The last thing you want when leaving speedway is a pcn so the club whether or not you agree just cleared the water .As @Lefty has said below its put him off attending.
  20. I don’t think they could have made any clearer BIRMINGHAM Speedway would like to update supporters attending racenights at Perry Barr in 2023 with the following car parking updates. The previous agreement with the One Stop Shopping centre is NO longer in place and supporters are advised to adhere to the rules displayed should they choose to park there. Stadium Car Parking remains for just £3 while the Club now also have free parking available at Bracebridge Engineering and Kalsi Kitchens on the A34 Walsall Road. Season Ticket holders can now park on the VIP Car Park inside the stadium near the changing rooms - however please note there are only a number of spaces available and these will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
  21. I think you can only park there if you use the shopping centre now as there is no longer any formal agreement with the Speedway.BIRMINGHAM Speedway would like to update supporters attending racenights at Perry Barr in 2023 with the following car parking updates. The previous agreement with the One Stop Shopping centre is NO longer in place and supporters are advised to adhere to the rules displayed should they choose to park there.
  22. Perhaps he meant Harry Webb who lived not to far away from Rye ? I think he went off on his summer holidays and had a wonderful life.(apart from when he came across the old yew tree)
