Big home meeting for Sheffield where a win is a must to keep up their play-off chances and sure they’ll want to make up for the home loss against Leicester earlier in the season, both teams have made changes since last lining up against each other. Not sure if the Rising Stars Gilkes and Kemp will be available for this one as representing Team GB in SON2 in Latvia on Friday, be interesting to see who the replacements are if that’s the case. For Sheffield obviously Woffinden will want to make his mark around Owlerton although I don’t see him scoring anything like what Holder was doing pre injury, both him and Musielak will Have their work cut out against fast gaters in Fricke and Lawson. Engine room should be where the meeting is won and lost with Howarth/Ellis/Pickering v Sedgemen/Worrall/Cook, can see those riders taking points off each other. Think Sheffield will sneak this one by the odd point 47-43 Update Ace Pijper in for Gilkes & Jason Edwards for Kemp

Plymouth Vs Berwick 8/8/23 live BSN
InTheDeepStuff replied to Cast1rn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Imagine there’s a few Plymouth riders who’ll be wanting this season done so they can find a new base for 2024, shambolic to only prep 1hr before, if the promoter does the track and everything else then some delegation needed as a one man show will never work -
If Sheffield want to move forward this season and be on the trophy hunt then one of two things needs to happen sooner than later, 1) Adam Ellis’ form improves dramatically home and away to support him being third heat leader or 2) Adam Ellis is replaced with someone who can get more points in the third heat leader role. If the Sheffield management rest on their laurels with Adam being a ‘mate’ then that could be season over sooner than they want it to be

The carvery always a good option, but book ahead, try contact Julie Reading at a Sheffield speedway I’m sure she’ll be able to help

Easy home win for Belle Vue 52-38, Woffinden a downgrade on Jack Holder especially being first meeting back riding a bike with UK specs, big reliance on Museliak at #1 and Kerr at reserve to score points as Sheffield engine room of Ellis, Pickering and Howarth don’t usually score well around NSS. Can see Wright, Lidsey and Brennan to easily outscore opposing numbers and Bewley/Kurtz combo to be scoring 23-25 between them
-
Will this be the line up then until next set of averages? 1 Museliak 2 Howarth 3 Ellis 4 Pickering 5 Woffinden 6 Kerr 7 Gilkes
-
If Jack Holder is ruled out then it’ll have to be R/R as not worth brining anyone in from King’s Lynn as a guest (Laguta still assessed so that rules him out), it was hoped Lewi Kerr would be back for this one, not sure if they can get a Championship guest for him if he’s still out (shame Scott Nicholls will be doing Eurosport work). Adam Ellis has struggled around NSS ever since in British title win, Tobias Museliak has improved there in last couple of visits although he’s always spectacular, Kyle Howarth will pick up some points at reserve but seems to lack the speed needed there to be beating the heat leaders. The Belle Vue team are all dialled in at NSS with expectation of Connor Bailey whose not had many laps around there this season, if Holder is out can only see a decent win and bonus point for Belle Vue, 54-36 home win

Un arranged Fixtures
InTheDeepStuff replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So past the 31st August deadline, makes the top 4 at end of August a mockery out not all fixtures completed -
Looking at he Speedway GB site it shows that Peterborough have to arrange to race Sheffield twice at home (possible 6 points for Sheffield inc bonus points) , whilst Wolves need to fit in Leicester at home and Leicester need to fit in Kings Lynn at home all before the end of August deadline that’s in place. These fixtures could impact the final whereabouts of the top 4 teams. I wonder if the promotions will look at where their teams are and who they will face in the plays offs before having to do a (financial loss for the home team) double header before the end of next month as I can’t see when some of the fixtures can be slotted in

Brennan was in Wrights face in the pits at end of Ht14 with a bit of finger wagging too, then his Mrs old man got involved (Cummings from Ohlins shocks) it all looked a bit like spoilt child not getting his way so called on the muscle. Lemon just needs to have a word with them both as doesn’t look good for the club especially when all can see in the pits at Sheffield. Clear the air session and hopefully all good between them both As for Bewley I think he’s in same boat as a Ellis, best kit on the continent and just use what they have left over here, comment from a few in the pits last night was Bewleys kit looked like ‘a bag of spanner’s’ nothing a mechanic can do if he’s been given the bottom of the barrel to work with -
Should be a close one, for Sheffield a lot will depend on what they get from Kerr’s R/R rides as Blodorn has shown he can be score points around Owlerton , expect good battles between Holder/ Musielak and Bewley/Kurtz when they line up together. Pickering and Ellis will need to be on their game to get the better of Wright and Lidsey. Battle of the reserves should be good, Howarth is a good vein of form and Brennan looks fast when he gets out front, think Gilkes should have the beating of Bailey especially with it being his first there. I’ll go for a sneaky home win 47-43

Leicester vs Kings Lynn 17/7/23
InTheDeepStuff replied to Lenny Lion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Comfortable win for Leicester, big scores from Fricke, Lawson and Sedgy, backed up well by rest of the Lions. For Kings Lynn can’t see Klindt performing same as the pairs he’ll have his usual firsts and lasts but will more than likely end up their top scorer with Howarth pulling in a good haul also, don’t think Laguta will take to the track especially going into bend 3, as usual Lambert will give his all for his team, score line of 54-36 -

If Peterborough get anywhere near the low 30’s they’ll have done a good job, can only see an arse whipping for them tonight -
Peterborough V Sheffield - 13/7/23
InTheDeepStuff replied to maneacat's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The uncertainty around is it, isn’t it going ahead will definitely have an impact on the crowd tonight. Would have gone to this one but over 4hr round trip might as well just watch the BSN meeting instead -
See Lewi Kerr posted that he’s snapped his collarbone in ht1 last night, not sure how long that will keep him out but would imagine that Sheffield will run R/R for him whilst they can (could be at reserve when August averages kick in), will mean an extra ride for Pickering and the other 3 between Gilkes and Howarth.

Sheffield v Peterborough Monday 3rd July
InTheDeepStuff replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Eurosport had of been covering the meeting last night the other 5 heats would have taken place. Peterborough would have been well pleased it got to heat 10 with the last 3 heats been FTG as they are still in with chance of bonus point whereas if rain had stayed away Sheffield would have increased that lead by a fair chunk. Having spoke to one of the riders last night can say it wasn’t a 50/50 split between ride and not ride, the ones who didn’t though whinged a but more. If it’s not flat, slick and dry some just don’t want to know as that’s what they are used to when riding in Polish leagues You could see the rain clouds coming in, track prep to bring what shale was on the track down low to stop it being an ice rink when it did rain would have helped rather than just going round grading the high line after heat 4 which added nothing, same old same old track prep at Sheffield these days, someone new doing the track might help the spectacle at Owlerton as racing not been great for a few years plus the uneven gates that are getting worse look like they’ll never be rectified whilst Graham goes through the motions. A tough one for the Sheffield promotion now as it wasn’t their decision to call the meeting off but if fans don’t get value for their admission fee then seeing only 66% of what they paid for with next week being in Eurosport some will vote with their feet and stay at home watching it in the box having already paid for that service (even if it is Emil again) -
Belle Vue v Wolves
InTheDeepStuff replied to Pauldoveyspeedway's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who will Belle Vue get in for Mulford now that he’s out for a while with broken bottom of leg/ankle after grass track crash at weekend? That’s got to be a 6-10 weeks out even if heals quickly -
Unusual Monday night nine meeting for Sheffield (and no TV coverage). Can only see a home win and by some margin, the home team will be wanting to put the last home meeting loss to Leicester to bed. Holder and Musielak swap riding order with July averages in force, rest of the Sheffield line up as previous. Peterborough swapping Worrall and Cook around at 2 and 4, with rest as previous. I don’t think Sheffield will hit 60 but will be mid 50’s, I’ll go for 56-34
