  1. It is a good job Fridays were monitored & fixtures were asked to be changed. Two Friday tracks, Edinburgh & Glasgow, racing against each other so Lakeside have joined the party. Just imagine if, hypothetically, Workington v Peterborough would, also, have been racing. Guests would have been a nightmare.
  2. I think most will have seen worse in the Speedway Of Nations when Zagar deliberately slowed down in the corners blocking Manzares while waiting for his partner to pass. Unfortunately, Manzares pulled a slight locker to avoid Zagar then got grip which forced him to come off straight in front of the following Slovinian, Ivacic who ran in to Manzares.
  3. Can you explain your reason(s) for "rubbish format"? Basically it is 3 pairs (1&2, 3&4, 5&6) riding against the opposition pairings giving 9 heats. Almost similar to how it is now! No 1&4, 2&5, 3&6 ride against their 2&5, 3&6, 1&4 respectively. These are the changes to our normal heats 2 & 8. Heats 13 & 14 are nominated pairings not including your top 2 who are in heat 15.
  4. At Somerset tonight, in heat 14 all 4 riders into the air bags causing 4 to deflate. All 4 riders seem to be ok but Josh took a knock to an ankle(the one damaged 3 wks ago ?) & Jake took a knock to an arm. Lawson walking shaky & Robson conscious.
  5. Danny was also there trying different things to sort out issues. The guys are trying for the benefit of the Scorpions & & their own pockets although practice costs them. Give them the support & the confidence will grow.
  6. At practice slick & dusty & nothing like a race track but he was trying different things. Thought it was a Wayne Carter Training school so could have been him in the t shirt.
  7. Another excellent meeting at the EWR & credit to Berwick for a job well done as most people would have thought the reserves would be the talking point. For Scunthorpe, as has been said on the Belle Vue threads, Steve has been struggling but last night he looked like his own self & should have had 2+3+3+3 from his first 4 rides but we thought he just seemed to be riding too wide in heat 15 finding the dirt but going backwards. Stefan tried his best, had speed but for 1st meeting back, competing & not practice, what was we hoping for. Berwick may not have strong heat leaders or weak reserves but showed strength in depth beating our reserves & riders carrying knocks or returning from injury. Jason carrying an injured leg reported from his guest appearance from Thursday just battles through the pain. Jake unfortunately pulling up after seeing lights on on the back straight cost us. Josh was Josh missing gates but thrilling us all. To the reserves & it is the same story as the effort is there but speed & points, or a bit of luck, is not forthcoming. I thought their reserves should have had more rides coming in for Etheridge & Howe. In heat 14, surely Pijper should have come in for Etheridge as a tape exclusion(in heat 3) counts as a ride. Missing 2 minutes & not coming to the tapes is not classed as a ride. Might be wrong but someone will put me, & us, right. We could look back at points dropped by Steve(stopping a lap early) in heat 1 & Jake pulling up(in heat 3) after seeing the lights as pivotal moments but then a TS could not have been used in heat 7. I said a few weeks ago that the loss of points at Redcar & Berwick would cost us & we were chasing our injuries to get back into the play offs & now our manager has said it publically, although the riders in the bar, afterwards, said it is game on. Still giving 100% to the Scorpions.
  8. Sweden's race night is Tuesday. L Lindgren missing for Newcastle @ Sheffield as racing in Sweden. This is not the 1st time riders missing on foreign fixed night racing.
  9. With Steve riding Wednesday & Thursday & Jason now guesting for Sheffield Thursday(I don't know if any of our other riders are guesting), fingers crossed that both come through unscathed & we can have, eventually, our original 1-7 back together. Gino had a spin Saturday, hopefully with a new or re-built engine & I hope Stefan has had another spin. Berwick's strength in depth worries me as they seem to fill in minor places & score well in the reserve department. We need our 1-5 to hit them hard with 5-1's & 4-2's with our reserves chipping in, hopefully, around 7 or 8 & that should be enough. Weather looks to be fine, not too hot, so should be an excellent race track with not many races ftg or by end of bend 2 on 1st lap. Here's hoping. Up The Scorpions
  10. I agree with you on your 1st point not knowing if it has anything to do with the International Speedway Calendar Body(or whatever they are called) but Poland have 1st call followed by Denmark & Sweden then Britain. I think prioritising the registration should come in to place as when a rider first registers to a team, irrespective of league or country, they should be the 1st option. Money or highest payers or fining of riders for non appearance should not come in to it. The other 3 leagues have the ability to use more riders having squads so they should be forced to use them.
  11. There were new rules put in place this year due to the reduced fixture list & new averages was one of them. A rolling average was based on last 30 meetings at the start of the season & reduced by 2 per month. This is where some average anomalies may have occurred. We had Steve Worrall's average at 9.13 at start of the season, reduced to 9.06 in June then increased to 9.17 when he did not ride.

  13. Quote After initially saying we couldn't race on Friday because too many teams were racing on that night, they agree to half a season's worth of fixtures instead, then, having seen how dangerous we've become, they pull the rug out and make us rearrange meetings with teams whom have a vested interest in not putting themselves out of contention by fielding a weak side at DP outside of their best laid plans? Taken from Workington Speedway website The Workington Comets race in British Speedway's Championship league, most Saturday evenings from late March to October at 7:00pm, with an alternative race-night of Friday (7:30pm) from their home at Derwent Park Stadium, Workington (CA14 2HG). Yes, we are all aware that, at times, too many teams were racing on the same night & from what was discussed at the AGM, with information passed on to promotions that were not present, changes & amendments had to be made, not to the liking of some but it was a committee decision. On the original date of the league meeting of Workington v Scunthorpe of 19th May, Scunthorpe agreed to the postponement as Workington had 3 riders absent on European duties. At that time, my post were liked because of Scunthorpe's co-operation. Now, whenever I post, some posters have taken to having "rose tinted glasses" & "tunnel vision" to see only their way & not what was, initially, agreed to. Even this last weekend when you are trying to get fixtures done, a poster was praying for rain on Sunday & hence it came, just because you had 2 riders missing. There was even a point made that it was an arranged meeting from the original fixture list but some were taking it on board that it was a re-arranged fixture. Even tsunami pointed this out and still Workington fans were posting that they were being hard done too because they could not get suitable guests. Once their younger rider(Bewley) was doing well abroad & re-declarations with some riders riding in Poland, they must have realised that there could be problems. Even the rule makers(SCB not BSPA) make ammendments to change rules throughout a season, not just this year, when they see an issue.
  14. That is why they got rid of Sedgeman & brought in Tungate to score the points at BV & not away!
  15. Last week Swindon v Leicester on Wednesday then Poole v Leicester on Thursday
  16. What you are implying then is that more riders do drugs. Care to elaborate?
  17. .................................. and Walker has recovered as well?
  18. League takes priority as some teams are panicking trying to get their fixtures done before the cut off date
  19. Mr Godfrey has not had an Agenda but seems to be the Spokesperson for the BSPA. Last year, Whenever Buster made a comment, he was lambasted as people thought it was his idea but he was speaking up for the BSPA as a group as Godfrey has done in the past. The Friday fixture situation was explained in the SS the other week but people will still make their own assumptions. I am pretty sure Mr Godfrey can look after himself. Whether right or wrong, we all post opinions on here as that is what a forum is for.
  20. Where is the question mark? ........................I suppose, in the perfect English language, I should have put "It looks like" instead of "Are" But we ALL post perfect English on here, don't we. People read what they perceive is posted & do not get the tone as a post can be taken a different way than when it is spoken. "are you suggesting that due the above mentioned, teams are knocking Scunthopre riders off? if you are that i think is one of the most stupid posts ive ever read " Where did I post knocking riders off? I said "forcefull" meaning being blocked, taken to the fence, sliding your back wheel out, taking the same line, etc similar to how N Pedersen used to ride & how F Lindgren has been doing recently. "but they did take themselves out you could see both auty and gino were going to have there issues when they happened maybe theres a bit of pressure on from management making them make mistakes" Again, I posted "Are our riders trying too hard" making up for riders not scoring points. All the riders are trying but you need a bit of luck & confidence.
  21. Are our riders trying too hard to get us the points for the play offs or are teams now being forcefull because of our reputation on & off the track(riders & management). Just an opinion, folks!
  22. He had his best engine sorted about a month ago( v Sheffield in KOC) but I think other problems have got into his head including family returning to America. That is why he has moved to the EWR to save on traveling but I think he should be taken in by 1 of our speedway families to ease the burden on him. He has been racing with a GTR this year & at the last home meeting he said he was sending another engine to Michael Lee.
  23. No, it doesn't matter where he broke his leg as the point I was making was that I would have thought they would have done as he was brought in to cover an underperforming rider & then, subsequently, broke his leg there. I, like yourself, will throw money into a pot for an injured rider & the Ben Fund so my comment does not suggest that you need to put money in for me & am offended by the suggestion. When Stefan was injured I enquired at the entrance huts if a collection was going to be held & was told "not sure"
  24. I cannot believe it. with all the injury bad luck we have had all year, now we get travel disruptions with Allen last night(although he made it in time) now we have Garrity. Just when we see light at the end of the tunnel.
  25. After Tai, R Lambert, Stevie there are now the likes of Bewley doing well in 2 leagues with the likes of, probably, Kemp & Flint next.
