Yes, held at Belle Vue.
-
In the Premiership, 2 meetings were held on the 24th October & it was said that these 2 meetings were not to be included in final averages to avoid manipulation. Hence L Jakobsen signed for 2023 on his assessed 2022 average of 5.04 instead of an above 7 average after completing 3H 3A meetings. The same might apply in Championship.
-
Streaming could now be attributed to lower attendances with clubs still getting an income. A family of 3 or 4 would spend £60-80+ on a meeting(gate receipts, programmes, food, parking, petrol) whereas £12 on a stream in the warmth of a home.
-
The conversion rate is still 1.5 & did not change in(another) 5 year plan. If riding in 2 leagues in the same season then that league average applies. Therefore, most recent would be Premiership x 1.5

Sweden back to Tuesdays only. Just in case others do not look elsewhere bar British threads. Poland pinching the occasional Thursday even though they have spare/empty weeks mid season. -
Interesting changes in Sweden & Poland for 2023

I have just seen that R & R has posted that Douglas stays at Rawicz in 2023 so, again, if it's not broke don't fix it.
-
Douglas would, hopefully be our no1. He has just had his best season so why change things if not broken. Stay at Wolves to gain more technical experience & Poland, where he averaged just about7.5 in Liga2 in top 20. He could move up to Liga1, still riding Sat/Sun. Pickering as our no2, even though a lot of points taken up he is a genuine top rider at the EWR & scores points away. Allen rumoured to be Redcar bound, again, & Tero with his issues, do we go for another year. He scores well at home & did improve on his away form, which was not hard seeing as he had a nightmare in 2021. Kennedy must be a deffo, also, on his low average scoring well at the EWR.& would pay for his GoFund IF he remained a Scorpion. Had his first spin last weekend in a Darcy Ward meeting, blowing off the cobwebs where he did well where his brother Declan won the meeting. Another Aussie, Tate Ziscke did well & has been doing well down under, Wright scored well at the EWR keeping better riders behind him so would he be worth another year. Lambo has been an excellent captain but with the averages being based on their last 10 league meetings, helping Kennedy but disadvantaging Lambo at 6.2. Rowe seemingly recovered from his troublesome knee, scored well for us but, again, his average jumped up to the dodgy area of resigning at 5.27. It will be interesting this year if Rob goes down a similar line of EWR great/good riders or pick up a technical rider(Nicol) if he has got over injuries/confidence issues. Howarth has said in this weeks SS that he has aspirations to ride abroad so Poland rather than Denmark/Sweden might beckon with his PL rides. Could Steve Worrall come back for another go as Poole & Leicester will make changes. The British riders get reductions on averages & there is talk of reducing the initial team limit of 42 down to 40 or possibly lower.
-
I would think both the Thompson twins would be available for CL speedway. Not good enough for PL but too good for NDL.
-
This must be the first season that Poole have NEVER made a team change in season. They have been lucky with injuries & persevered with riders off form as replacements not suitable.

......... and Fridays, when it suits.

Plymouth Gladiators 2023
IronScorpion replied to jbell1995's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Until he races a "few" meetings before he gets injured on a, still, inflated average & the guest situation rears its ugly head, again. This rule needs addressing at the AGM. -
I would think that a few promoters voted against running the RS system in the Championship after 1 year as a few riders exceeded expectations. In the past, riders that do well 1 year find themselves out of a job the next year because they have that dodgy average(normally between 4 & 6)
-
It never happened in the Championship at the start of the season.

I heard at the KOC meeting v Leicester a month ago that Richie was bound for Plymouth. -

GP rider for "long term injured" GP rider who is not a track specialist, whereas Fricke is. Lambert rode at Kings Lynn almost his whole British career. -

So there is money in British Speedway, even if he has a "mare & scores only 4 or 5. -

Possibly similar to the Case with S Nicholls being allowed to race in Championship as well as Premiership. Down to money & battling lawyers. -
Oxford announced that they are racing at Championship level, again, next year.
-
Although he stayed at Scunthorpe for his first 5 years, that was based on the type of visa he had. After not qualifying in 2018, he had a very good winter in Australia having a lot of training sessions with advice from Darcy Ward & Davey Watt. He was advised to ride on more technical tracks & came back to ride at Leicester & Wolves in 2019 & 2021 achieving better averages away from home. This year has been a revelation for him with being in the top 10 averages in the PL & top 5 in the CL. Moving back to Scunthorpe & racing in Poland has moved him to another level but still adapting to the track at Wolves. A lot this next year(2023) will depend on the rules in Poland but I can see him moving up a league to Lige1 in Poland, racing on Saturdays/Sundays but still keeping the level of racing in Britain, if it allows. He has improved this year & earned some good money so why make a change if it is not broke!
-
Poland do as well but they have blank weeks to fit in any un-run meetings the weeks before.
-
This must be where the changes will be made for Poland to, again, have priority as for Rawicz, who rode home meetings on Saturdays, still had Douglas, Masters & Pickering riding for their British clubs on Fridays. I, also, read into this in Dougies after meeting speech at our last meeting in the clubhouse although he also said if allowed, he would like to ride for Scunthorpe next year. Read into this what you wish but at the end of the year, riders always tell their fans what they hope to hear.
