11.06.2021 - Scunthorpe v Newcastle
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just a mention to Lambert who was superb tonight using an engine bought from a top rider(you still have to set it up using other parts of your bike, though, & throttle control). For me, other riders performed well & the meeting was won but I would have given him his glory of a full maximum & not put him in heat 15. A lovely bit of banter between Lambert & Rob at the start line near the Roynon incident, after Lambert came over to check on Roynon's health, Lambert said he wanted a re-run to get another chance for his maximum & Rob replied with "must do better then". Brilliant. -

I have posted a few times of Josh MacDonald losing control & gifting points away probably by bike set up, control or over trying. Rob's programme notes, also, points to issues but he is up to speed so just need to persevere with him. He had a spin of 4 or 5 laps after the meeting & looked more in control barring his last corner but saved it this time. Possibly the talk with Rob after his fall helped to make a few alterations. -

Was you there last night as I saw, & the updates site says so, also, competitive racing from both teams with passing in probably 2/3rds of the heats by both teams as well. The result might say it was one sided, which many thought was expected, but that was an excellent show of speedway racing helped by the riders wish for a bit more dirt, which also helped in keeping the moisture in with no evidence of dust. It just need the one, very rare nowadays at the EWR, of a remedial track grade. -

I bet a lot of people said the same last week about Edinburgh v Newcastle Y look how that turned out(on track & not on paper). Speedway is speedway at the moment so enjoy it while you can. -

Especially after the news in the Midlands with Wolves & Birmingham & now Poole waiting until after the 21st(new restrictions). -

It depends if the 2 Josh's turn up as it looks as if both have issues with bikes. Josh Auty seems to have no speed after smashing his bike in the 1st bend tussle with Nick Morris & Josh MacDonald seems to be getting too much grip, lifting & losing control, sometimes coming off but gifting points away. -

I wondered why the laughing emoji as I read that 14 tyres had been offered to teams from Monday(bar Plymouth meeting who only got offered 11 each). Tyres were tested at the Peterborough v Kings Lynn meeting by 2 members of the SCB before & after races taking into account pressures, temperature & condition. Just seen this though http://www.scbgb.co.uk/news.php?extend.109.1 -

Your no8 uses the r/r tyre( or has a wheel with it fitted) to be passed around, if required. It has now been decided to give each team 14 tyres(not 2 per man) up to this weekend. -

I am surprised more teams have not done this over the years when r/r is used then end up with 5 riders(or less) & then moan. More so this year with more incidents attributed to the new Anlas tyres. -

Josh Auty is our no1 so a guest is ok, even with the older rule. -
I always wonder when teams do southern/northern tours, when do they wash all their gear & set up for the next meeting? Do they wash down at the 1st track so to dry off in time for the next & then set their bikes up at the following track?

I guess the invoice can not separate the 2 items & bundled it together as 1 price. -

Carvers (since 2020), Shaun's, Beechway & Markhams in Messingham are probably some of the best locally. -

Upton chippy south of Gainsborough serves chips & fish cooked in beef dripping but only open Friday evening & Saturday dinner. People travel for miles just to eat on the benches & grass bank opposite. -
Kings Lynn only had the 1 meeting on or prior to the 23rd May which, in my opinion, are his only qualifying rides for his new average so only drops one meeting from 2019. His 2nd & other meeting was on the 27th May which comes in to his change of average for the 1st July.
-
No, but here is my 50p Cook's initial average prior to all meetings was 7.59. He then rode in "qualifying meetings" up to & including 23rd month, according to the rules, which gives him a new applicable average from 1st June. He then rode on the 27th & was subsequently dropped. His new average should then be applied to any team he races for(even as a guest) until a new average is applied (after all qualifying races up to & including 23rd June) on 1st July. HE HAS A NEW AVERAGE FROM 1ST JUNE!!! What on earth has the 8th June got to do with anything with his average? ( water of course, in the garden to chill, hopefully)
-
I am only going on the fact that, even though he was replaced after the meeting on the 27th May, that meeting is in his qualifying average when the new averages change on the 1st July so his 1/6 June average should apply. So Ipswich have applied his old(May Premiership) rather than his recent(1 June Premiership) for Cook whereas they have used a recent(converted June Championship) of 4.27 rather than his old(converted May Championship) of 4.22 for Starke!

Theresa or Brian? .............. 2021. (recent average is June 2021 )
-
So Ipswich have ballsed up, again, as he can't guest on his average(compared to Heeps) & the re-declaration stated in the Starke signing news puts them over the limit. Heeps 6.17 Stewart 4.00 remaining points 1.78 = 11.95 Cook 7.82? Starke 4.27 =12.09
-
Yes, but maybe top riders not available, travelling to Poland so using r/r, maybe Cook, King, Allen & Rowe/Kemp might give a decent score plus extra track time.
-
I have now been looking at the Rules & Regulations & in Match Averages 10.2 it says "The most recently established MA will be used. If a rider has an established MA in both the Premiership and Championship Leagues, established in the same season, that leagues MA will apply to that league." From that ruling, his Premiership MA will apply but, having ridden in May, his new 1/6 MA should apply. (strange but are the BSP Ltd/SCB not applying the correct rules. Neil Watson, help me & others out!!!!!!!)
-
That is why I posted my previous post as the rules have been twisted, bent & gone round corners. They are said to be using his "old, May Premiership" average but his "recent" Championship average should apply. Either way, Ipswich have re-declared under the limit.
-
I have just been to the Ipswich website & it has Cook at 7.59 for Thursday. https://ipswichwitches.co/ipswich-v-peterborough-raceday-preview-3/

Clutching at straws on Cook's average, his Premiership average was 7.59 due to increase as of 1/6 to 7.82, but as he was released before 1/6 does his recent (June) Championship average come in to play, converted, to 6.71.
