  1. Sorry, my mistake, but I knew I had read it somewhere 93 Members 93 107 posts Report post Posted Wednesday at 03:23 PM Yes. After new boys Sheffield, the rest allegedly got to pick in order of the 2019 finl league table, worst to best, so the order of picking was Peterborough, King's Lynn,, Belle Vue, Ipswich, Wolves. (Though that does make you wonder why Drew Kemp wasn't picked earlier) Thanks Haha Confused Sad
  2. It was on the British Speedway Official Website when all 6 riders were announced but I can not find it now as it has been removed or edited.
  3. So, with Sheffield having first choice as the new boys & final 2019 standings, in reverse order, being the other, another rule made up that makes our beloved sport a joke to others. (although footballs offside & VAR take some beating).
  4. How did Ipswich get Drew Kemp when they were 5th in line to choose a rider. Surely, other teams should have made a move.
  5. In the Daily Star today, there is a little snippet of speedway news(almost always now), about Palin & Peterboro having first choice, although I would think via the zoom meetings, clubs will have said "we are interested in this rider as being ours" so can you pick another. Surprised Dan Thompson was not chosen but most clubs have chosen a higher starred rider so Palin must be very highly regarded although, I think, another year at NDL level might have been required, but now we know more these last few weeks, what standard would the NDL be, if raced, in 2021. Probably lower than in 2019 so, he might learn more. Hope these "Rising Stars" are not out of their depth and suffer like some in the past. I have always said that a Premiership/Elite reserve should have, at least, a 4 - 4.5 Championship/Premier CMA.
  6. On the Ipswich thread, they are talking about Jason's CMA being reduced from 8.21 to 8.00, either by another year away from British Speedway or by a British 2.5% reduction . I know he was born in Bristol but he is an Aussie. The conversion rate was 1.5 in 2019 moving up .1 per year until it reach 2 over a 5 year plan. 2020 should have been1.6 but since there was no league racing, people thought it would carry over to 2021 but others are saying that the plan is scrapped & is now back to 1.5. What is the chance of our Rising Star program being axed after 2 years.
  7. I remember around '05 to '07 Plymouth were one of the best attended NL clubs getting around 1400 fans regularly & that was with a poor infrastructure of a stadium that, also, regularly flooded due to the high water plain near the club. A lot of these issues are now sorted with a decent sized grandstand & bends banking, I see no reason why they shouldn't surpass 1400 again with those 2 top riders, irrespective of the other 5. The high averages will only be for team building purposes so when Crump & Pedersen get their true averages for the Championship, I would expect changes to be made.
  8. He is only a Rising Star #4 in a Premiership club otherwise in the 1-6 at Championship level.
  9. Groups 1-4, 75% of these groups being over 70, have had their 1st jab. I am in group 7 being over 60 & I expect to have mine towards the end of February. The over 50's(group 9) should be having theirs around the end of March as well as some other groups having their 2nd jab. Going by these figures, the over 50's will have about 65% protection in their bodies by end of April( approx. 3-4 weeks after having 1st vaccine). Those that have had the 2nd jab will have approx. 85% protection.
  10. It is all about opinions on forums but some on here want to be a Promoter, Manager or Referee knowing all the rules before becoming official.
  11. Yes they are as they are allowing top league riders ride in 1 other league(mainly Sweden or Denmark) & the lower leagues 2 others( unless it's the minor German league which I have read about that a rider can do 3 extra leagues).
  12. From what I remember reading, the engines were not bought by the BSPA but were going to be subsidised by the BSPA, for example, if the engine cost £5500, the rider paid £4000 & the BSPA paid £1500 up to the £350,000 deal.
  13. When did Edwards, Gilkes, Thompson twins, Palin, Jenkins ride in the Championship to be merited 2 star?
  14. I am not sure when it was but didn't Jake say he was going to stop over here for the winter( unsure whether '18-19 or '19-20) so to stop over here, without pay, must be difficult. It, also, surprised me why he had not done many meetings in Australia this last few months, more so, after winning the Darcy Ward meeting in late November. Will welcome him back with open arms in 2022.
  15. Yes, it was the said figure of 2000 but that was the top figure & not based on stadium capacity so 2000 in 52000 at Anfield or 2000 in 10000 capacity elsewhere.
  16. See post/topic just created by THJ as news filters through from other teams.
  17. Wait while people start getting bored & decide to have a day out raising the infection rate like it did in East Yorkshire & East Lincolnshire last year. Good luck with the all British team, though.
  18. Having only one season in the NDL I think is a step too far to have some riders chosen to ride in the Premiership. Give them a year in the Championship, at least to get an average, before moving up in to the Premiership irrespective of how people THINK they could be.
  19. Leicester have both the Thompson twins but didn't know Scunthorpe had signed Harry McGurk unless you know something we don't.
