Whose Idea Was It To Use Kings Lynn ?!?
Anders replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If we (Sweden) weren't meant to win, and obviously we weren't, I was hoping for a British win. Why? Because I wouldn't want any Brit to think that for Great Britain to win, a WTC meeting must be held on a trick track. King's Lynn IS an excellent racing track (though it didn't ride very well early on), and alongside Peterborough, there have been entertaining meetings in recent seasons. If staging more WTC meetings, please keep them at entertaining tracks, and not those which may give Britain more of an advantage. -

The first meeting was postponed due to rain, while the second one was postponed due to poor track conditions from what I can tell on some guestbook entries. On Saturday, Ikaros Smederna took a 61-35 away victory in a previously postponed meeting at Team Värmland. Robin Törnqvist was the only on to register heat victories for the home side, finishing with 15 points in 6 rides, while the away was much more solid. Ikaros Smederna, without European U19 finalist Alexander Edberg, had four riders scoring double digit scores. Norwegian reserve Daniel Gunnestad top scored with 14 paid 15, though in 6 heats. The Eskilstuna team have won 11 of 12 meetings so far, but may face their toughest challenge of the season as they head to Malmö to face Gnistorna in round 14, a team that haven't lost at home since August in 2008. The other meetings in this round are: Filbyterna vs Hultsfred's Gymnasium, Gasarna vs Team Värmland, Stjärnorna vs Indianerna Junior and Nässjö vs Eldarna. All meetings are held on Wednesday, with Nässjö riding it's home meeting at the track in Vetlanda. -

Line-ups for Smålandsvillan Pairs Open will be made tomorrow, as I'll meet up with the clerk of the course to finalize things. Ghostwalker is correct, it is a U23 district final. or at least it WAS. This meeting has been cancelled! Not enough riders were willing/able to ride in it. -

Yeah, it was fascinating because when we left Sannahed, the road was dry halfway to Hallsberg (as that was the time I first took notice of that fact), and that was just a kilometer or so from the track. Incredibly, I think the rainfall mainly hit the track, just as we (Nässjö) were about to turn it around. At least, that was my feeling at the time. Well, that's speedway... -

Team Värmland took a comfortable win against Eldarna by 39-21, in a meeting that was abandoned after 10 heats due to rain. Tommie Lundgren provided Eldarna's only heat victory on the day. DIVISION 1 - ROUND 13 - WEDNESDAY 10/07/21 Indianerna Junior - Nässjö 39-37 The meeting in Kumla turned out to be a close one with several good heats on a well/evenly prepared track, which allowed the riders to race close to each other. With only two riders finishing heat 2, for a home side 3-2, the Indians lead from that point forward. Both teams threw points away due to falls and mechanical gremlins, and as the second reserve heat also resulted in a 3-2, Indianerna was six points ahead, 35-29. Tactical substitution Thomas H Jonasson and Jonas Messing scored a maximum in heat 12, and then the recent Målilla Wild Card reciever had to come from the back to pass Pontus Nilsson on the first lap, and eventually pass Andreas Westlund on the final lap to save a tie in heat 13. That proved to be the final heat of the night, because just as the announcer read the line-up for heat 14, the sky opened up and a heavy downpour of rain made the track unridable in just 2-3 minutes. The meeting was abandoned with three heats left, with the result standing. Indianerna Junior 39 Niklas Eriksson ( 1* 1* 3 ) = 5+1 (3) Pontus Nilsson ( 2 3 2 1* ) = 8+1 (4) Andreas Westlund (guest) ( 2* 2 3 2 ) = 9+1 (4) Marcus Johansson ( 3 R 1 0 ) = 4 (4) Freddy Godlund ( 2 2 1 ) = 5 (3) Jan Nordwall ( 3 0 0 2* 3 ) = 8+1 (5) Donald Jensen ( Fx Fx N N ) = 0 (2) Nässjö 37 Thomas H Jonasson ( 3 3 3 3 3 ) = 15 (5) Lennart Persson ( T/T 1 1 N ) = 2 (3) Jonas Messing ( R 3 2* ) = 5+1 (3) Mikael Axelsson ( 1 2 0 0 ) = 3 (4) Robin Aspegren ( 3 2 R ) = 5 (3) Simon Lindh-Åström (guest) ( 0 N 1* 1 N ) = 2+1 (3) Mattias Hård (guest) ( 2 1 0 2 ) = 5 (4) Ikaros Smederna - Team Värmland 67-29 I once heard John Louis tell Kim Jansson "never finish last", and yesterday, the Eskilstuna outfit followed Louis' advice as they went on to a crushing home victory. Daniel Gunnestad scored a four ride paid maximum, and Linus Eklöf and Henrik Karlsson only dropped one point each for a paid 14 score for Ikaros Smederna. Team Värmland guest Pontus Aspgren dropped one point in four rides to be their top scorer. Filbyterna - Stjärnorna 62-34 André Hertzberg scored a paid maximum and Scunthorpe Scorpions Viktor Bergström made his season debut for Filbyterna, dropping only one point, to David Hillborg. The latter, alongside Tomas Bäck, top scored with 9 points each for the Stars. The other meetings in round 13 will be held during the weekend (Hultsfred's Gymnasium vs Gnistorna on Saturday, and Eldarna vs Gasarna on Sunday). -
After a late withdrawel from Nicolai Klindt, Västervik have been forced to modify their line-up. Unfortunately, the decision came too late, so they haven't been able to track a replacement, therefore, the line-up will be as follow: Västervik (away) 1. Tomasz Jedrzejak 2. Peter Ljung 3. Chris Harris 4. Nicolai Klindt Joonas Kylmäkorpi 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Robin Bergqvist 7. Joonas Kylmäkorpi Robin Messing 8. Robin Messing

The Vargarna track is definitely the most British styled track in Sweden, with long straights and tight bends, but it's not as short as Lakeside. I would say it's more similar to the Belle Vue track.

SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 13 Tuesday July 20th 2010 LEJONEN - PIRATERNA at Axelent Arena, Gislaved If the Lions hopes to take third place from the Pirates, they really should win this one, but they'll have to do it without the service of Nicki Pedersen. Leigh Adams, a possible replacement, won't be there either as Lejonen have opted for a depth line-up with David Ruud dropping to reserve for the first time this season. Emil Sayfutdinov's temporary injury replacement Michal Szczepaniak has been left out of Piraterna's line-up for this away fixture. Maciej Janowski comes back at reserve, with Robert Kosciecha moving into the main body of the team. Lejonen (home) 1. Chris Holder 2. Mikael Max 3. Troy Batchelor 4. Dave Watt 5. Piotr Swiderski 6. Dennis Andersson 7. David Ruud ( 8. Oliver Berntzon ) Piraterna (away) 1. Rafal Dobrucki 2. Robert Kosciecha 3. Greg Hancock 4. Jonas Davidsson 5. Antonio Lindbäck 6. Maciej Janowski 7. Linus Sundström ( 8. Tobias Bäck ) *-*-* VARGARNA - VÄSTERVIK at ICA Maxi Arena, Norrköping Broadcasted live on Canal+. This round's TV fixture is the meeting in Norrköping, where both teams are looking to come closer to securing a place in the Play Offs. The Wolves comes from one home meeting to another, and a crushing victory against Rospiggarna, so they obviously don't feel the need to make any changes. Västervik rode two solid meetings against Elit Vetlanda, but came out with no points for their efforts. Rafal Okoniewski had a stinker in the home meeting and has been replaced for this away fixture, with Tomasz Jedrzejak taking his heat leader position while Joonas Kylmäkorpi steps in at reserve. Kylmäkorpi for Okoniewski should be an improvement at this track. Vargarna (home) 1. Adrian Miedzinski 2. Adam Shields 3. Adam Skornicki 4. Scott Nicholls 5. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6. Kim Nilsson 7. Michael Jepsen Jensen ( 8. André Hertzberg ) Västervik (away) 1. Tomasz Jedrzejak 2. Peter Ljung 3. Chris Harris 4. Nicolai Klindt 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Robin Bergqvist 7. Joonas Kylmäkorpi ( 8. Robin Messing ) *-*-* ROSPIGGARNA - DACKARNA at Orionparken, Hallstavik Last placed Rospiggarna crashed by thirty points at Vargarna last week, but should be able to welcome back Wieslaw Jagus from the sick bed. His Polish partner at number 4 won't be Krzysztof Buczkowski who had a bad night in Norrköping, but countryman Przemyslaw Pawlicki. At the number eight position, Pontus Aspgren returns from injury, replacing Linus Lydin. Dackarna are at full strength. Rospiggarna (home) 1. Jesper B Monberg 2. Mads Korneliussen 3. Wieslaw Jagus 4. Przemyslaw Pawlicki 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Kauko Nieminen 7. Anton Rosén ( 8. Pontus Aspgren ) Dackarna (away) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Rune Holta 6. Ricky Kling 7. Ludvig Lindgren ( 8. Joel Larsson ) *-*-* ELIT VETLANDA - VALSARNA at Vetlanda Motorstadion Lee Richardson was missing in Elit Vetlanda's line-up last week due to illness, and he's missing once again. He's obviously healthy as he scored heavily in Poland yesterday, but I don't know why he isn't in the line-up. Other than that, Martin Vaculik replaces Adrian Gomolski, so in combination will the rolling average, Thomas H Jonasson steps down to reserve. Newcomers Valsarna kept Piraterna on their toes for most of last week's meeting, but eventually went down by twelve. Artem Laguta isn't in the line-up for this one, so Matej Kus gets his third opportunity of the season, at second string. Anders Mellgren is missing due to a dislocated shoulder, with 16 year old Victor Palovaara once again filling his shoes. Elit Vetlanda (home) 1. Janusz Kolodziej 2. Martin Vaculik 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Patrick Hougaard 5. Jason Crump 6. Thomas H Jonasson 7. Robin Aspegren ( 8. Jonas Messing ) Valsarna (away) 1. Tomasz Gapinski 2. Matej Kus 3. Sebastian Ulamek 4. Henrik Gustafsson 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Krzysztof Jablonski 7. Victor Palovaara ( 8. - ) *-*-* All meeting will be covered via live updates on www.speedway.nu from 19:00 local time. As previously said, Vargarna vs Västervik is the Canal+ fixture.

Considering 9 of 12 heats were won from gates 3 & 4 up until heat 12, and Bogdanovs had one white and one yellow to go, HE should be the one to protest! Thank you for writing that, so I didn't have to... Maksims Bogdanovs is a definite candidate to win the U21 titel this year, just as the more well known names of the series. He's good, and all need to wake up and face the reality.

DIVISION 1 - ROUND 12 - WEDNESDAY 10/07/14 Stjärnorna - Ikaros Smederna 36-60 League leading Ikaros Smederna had no major problems in beating second-to-bottom Stjärnorna in Hallstavik yesterday. The Eskilstuna team opened up a 16 point lead after 7 heats (29-13) and looked totally in control, but The Stars cut the deficit to half with only four heats remaining before Ikaros Smederna close the meeting with four straight maximums. Andreas Messing was quite lonely for Stjärnorna with 14 points, while no less then three riders had a paid 14 score for the away team; Linus Eklöf, Henrik Karlsson and Daniel Gunnestad. Gasarna - Indianerna Junior 58-36 The Indians kept it close up until the interval, being only six points down at the time, but the final six heats provided six heat advantages for Gasarna who cruised to a comfortable win against an away team that suffered to many letters in the score sheet. Among them was guest Anders Mellgren who started with a two minute exclusion in his first, and then crashed in his fourth outing and had to withdraw, possibly due to a dislocated shoulder. Much more fun for the Avesta team which recorded it's fifth win of the season, with full maximums from Andreas Westlund and Sebastian Aldén in 5 and 4 heats respectively. Filbyterna - Gnistorna 61-35 At home, Gnistorna have scored five wins in five meetings and 50+ points against each opposition, but this turned out to be their fourth loss in five meetings away from home. Filbyterna lead from the word go with four maximums in the first seven heats, and even though Gnistorna's reserves outscored their counterparts by a 19-9 margin, the main body of the Linköping team was far superior to the away team. André Hertzberg and Freddie Eriksson had 5 and 4 heat paid maximums for the home side while reserve Per-Ola Klasson top scored with 11 points for the Malmö team, despite an exclusion in his first outing. Team Värmland - Eldarna This meeting is held on Saturday, just as the previously postponed meeting between Hultsfred's Gymnasium and Ikaros Smederna from round 8. Nässjö - Hultsfred's Gymnasium Postponed after SVEMO suddenly demanded a different kind of kickboard in the bends. The work was not able to be done in time for this meeting. New date TBA. -

The home side made a strong effort in the first half of the meeting, mainly thanks to red hot reserve Tomasz Jedrzejak. As Nicolai Klindt and Chris Harris recorded a maximum over Jason Crump in heat 8, Västervik took the lead for the first - and only - time in the meeting. The second half belonged to Elit Vetlanda as Thomas H Jonasson lowered the colours of Tomasz Gollob in heat 9 to tie it at 27-27, followed by a maximum against Rafal Okoniewski in heat 10. After giving up all heat victories from heat 12 and forward in the home meeting against Västervik, Elit Vetlanda's star riders pulled through after the interval to clinch it before the nominated heats. Västervik (home) 44 (88) 1. Rafal Okoniewski 0-T-1-N = 1 (3) 2. Peter Ljung 2-2*-0-2-2 = 8+1 (5) 3. Chris Harris 2-2-2*-1*-1-2* = 10+3 (6) 4. Nicolai Klindt Fx-0-3-0-0 = 3 (5) 5. Robin Aspegren 2-0-0-1* = 3+1 (4) 8. Jonas Messing For Västervik, Okoniewski was the difference between the teams yesterday. He has been in good form all year but didn't produce anything yesterday. Ljung was always in the mix to record a solid second string score against his former club. Harris was involved in both maximums for the home side, and generally has established himself as a good heat leader in Elitserien this season. Klindt's score of a win (over Crump) and four scoreless heats tells the truth. Gollob slept at the tapes most of the night and only managed to win a heat when the meeting was already lost. Jedrzejak had a field day at reserve, though some easy points in those paid fourteen. Messing broke his nose in a first bend crash in his first heat, and had to withdraw. For Elit Vetlanda, Kolodziej continues to show what a steal he is on a sub-5.00 average, and must be considered an excellent third heat leader behind Crump and Hampel. Jonasson rode very well, and had even more points coming at times. Hampel is rock solid nowadays, though his overambitions in heat 16 caused him to fall. He walked back to the pit unharmed it seemed. Hougaard was OK considering his late call-up as a replacement for Lee Richardson. Crump wasn't faster than anyone else, but gated well and defended his positions. Gomolski really only had one good ride and scored some gifted points, but at least now has some knowledge of the track after his first visit. Aspegren started well and deserved more after his two opening rides, before fading. *-*-* CURRENT STANDING: 1. Dackarna, 12, 9-2-1, 6/6, 26p (+155) 2. Elit Vetlanda, 10, 8-1-1, 4/5, 21p (+152) 3. SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 12 Tuesday July 13th 2010 PIRATERNA - VALSARNA at Biltema Arena, Motala After being on the opposite site of a hammering at home last week, it could be hard to see how Valsarna should stop another one. However, Valsarna were the missing the services of Tomasz Gapinski as his Polish club appearently stopped him, but he's back in the team with Krzysztof Jablonski moving down to reserve where he has been quite successful in previous meetings, replacing Robin Törnqvist. Also, Chris Slabon has been replaced by Artem Laguta who's back in the line-up. The Pirates can also welcome back a rider into their line-up, with Jonas Davidsson returning from injury. That's tough luck for Damian Balinski who scored a paid 12 score at Valsarna, but doesn't fit under the maximum average of 42.00. Michal Szczepaniak made his season debut in Hagfors, and gets another chance after producing a solid 7 points from a second string position. Piraterna (home) 0 (63) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Michal Szczepaniak 3. Jonas Davidsson 4. Rafal Dobrucki 5. Antonio Lindbäck 6. Linus Sundström 7. Maciej Janowski ( 8. Tobias Bäck ) Valsarna (away) 0 (33) 1. Tomasz Gapinski 2. Henrik Gustafsson 3. Sebastian Ulamek 4. Artem Laguta 5. Daniel Nermark 6. Victor Palovaara 7. Krzysztof Jablonski ( 8. Anders Mellgren ) *-*-* VARGARNA - ROSPIGGARNA at ICA Maxi Arena, Norrköping Despite winning by a comfortable margin at Rospiggarna, Vargarna still have opted for one change for tonight. Daniel King scored 4 paid 5 in Hallstavik, but will be replaced for the home meeting with Adam Skornicki, which is not particulary surprising given the fact that Skornicki rides very well at the technical home track. With the exception of Adrian Miedzinski (and number eight junior André Hertzberg), all riders have a new race jacket numbers for tonight, than in last week's meeting. Przemyslaw Pawlicki didn't show up for Rospiggarna in round 11 (as he was stopped by his Polish club), and as Rospiggarna rides at the Belle Vue styled track, it's not surprising that he has not gotten his place back. Krzysztof Buczkowski remains as a second string, with Kauko Nieminen stepping in at reserve instead of David Hillborg who was a late replacement for Pawlicki last Tuesday. Vargarna (home) 0 (54) 1. Adrian Miedzinski 2. Adam Shields 3. Adam Skornicki 4. Scott Nicholls 5. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6. Kim Nilsson 7. Michael Jepsen Jensen ( 8. André Hertzberg ) Rospiggarna (away) 0 (42) 1. Jesper B Monberg 2. Mads Korneliussen 3. Wieslaw Jagus 4. Krzysztof Buczkowski 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Anton Rosén 7. Kauko Nieminen ( 8. Linus Lydin ) *-*-* DACKARNA - INDIANERNA at G&B Arena, Målilla The Målilla team lost for the first time this season as they went down in Kumla, but keeps the same line-up as then. It would seem that only an injury to any of the top five riders in Dackarna will make any changes to the line-up, so with all riders healthy, Dackarna continue to use it's standard line-up. GP Challenge finalist Leon Madsen, who scored 3 paid 6 in Kumla, won't be making this week's trip to Målilla. The Indians have opted to replace him with fellow countrymen Niels-Kristian Iversen, who steps in at second string. The middle of the team remains the same, but at reserve, Renat Gafurov and Simon Gustafsson swaps positions. Dackarna (home) 0 (47) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Rune Holta 6. Ricky Kling 7. Ludvig Lindgren ( 8. Tim Gudmundsson ) Indianerna (away) 0 (49) 1. Bjarne Pedersen 2. Niels-Kristian Iversen 3. Magnus Zetterström 4. Grzegorz Walasek 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 6. Simon Gustafsson 7. Renat Gafurov ( 8. Freddy Godlund ) *-*-* VÄSTERVIK - ELIT VETLANDA at Sparbanken Arena Västervik In the away fixture, Västervik had to use the Riders Replacement facility to cover the "injured" Tomasz Gollob, but the Pole should be back for this one. Other than that, manager Mikael Messing continue with his preferred line-up. However, the rolling average has dictated one change, as Tomasz Jedrzejak drops to reserve for the first time this season, with Nicolai Klindt moving to second string. The only change that was expected for Elit Vetlanda for this upcoming away fixture was the replacement of the injured Jacob Thorssell at the junior eight position, with Jonas Messing stepping in. Early on Tuesday morning, Lee Richardson called in sick to the Vetlanda management, but after troublesome flight changing procedures, Patrick Hougaard has been confirmed as Lee's replacement at number four. Västervik (home) 0 (44) 1. Rafal Okoniewski 2. Peter Ljung 3. Chris Harris 4. Nicolai Klindt 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Tomasz Jedrzejak 7. Robin Messing ( 8. - ) Elit Vetlanda (away) 0 (52) 1. Janusz Kolodziej 2. Thomas H Jonasson 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Lee Richardson Patrick Hougaard 5. Jason Crump 6. Adrian Gomolski 7. Robin Aspegren ( 8. Jonas Messing ) *-*-* All meetings can be followed via live updates on www.speedway.nu from 19:00. Tonight's Canal+ meeting is the Västervik vs Elit Vetlanda meeting. Enjoy!

Anders replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Round 11 was completed yesterday with the meeting between Hultsfred's Gymanasium and Team Värmland, so I guess it's time to summarize. ROUND 11 - DIVISION 1 07/07/10 10/07/07 FILBYTERNA - NÄSSJÖ 52-44 This round didn't provide much drama, as most home teams won with huge margins, but this one was actually quite close. A makeshift Nässjö side were only two points down with the nominated heats remaining, but Benny Johansson and Andreas Lekander scored a maximum in heat 15 to win it for Filbyterna. André Hertzberg then recorded his second win in three attempts over Robin Aspegren as he won heat 16 to socre the most points of the night, with a paid fourteen. Aspegren top scored for Nässjö with 13 points in five rides. Nässjö lost the services of Kalle Fleetwood-Carlsson, who made his comeback from injury, as he crashed in the practise session prior to Wednesday's meeting and had to withdraw due to two broken bones in his hand. The team managers of each team swiftly worked out so Filbyterna's number 8 John Lindman (who had no scheduled rides) guested for Nässjö instead of the injured Fleetwood-Carlsson. Lindman actually proved a good guest, as his contribution of 7 points definitely made the meeting closer than it would have been with an empty place in the programme. The away team were also missing the service of Jonas Messing (illness) and Lennart Persson (unavailable), in addition to Fleetwood-Carlsson's injury, but the three guests scored 19 paid 20 between them, so no complaints there. Sometimes the results doesn't reflect what actually happened on track, but that wasn't the case in this one. Filbyterna were the better team and an eight point margin seemed reasonable, despite it being only a two point deficit with two heats to go. Filbyterna 52 André Hertzberg 2*-3-3-2-3 = 13+1 (5) Sebastian Carlsson 3-3-1-3-1 = 11 (5) Andreas Lekander T-3-2-R-2* = 7+1 (5) Andreas Berglund F-0-R-2 = 2 (4) Benny Johansson 2-3-0-0-3 = 8 (5) Michael Sjöqvist 1*-0-0-3 = 4+1 (4) Dennis Ekstrand 2-2-1-1-1 = 7 (5) Nässjö 44 Tim Gudmundsson (guest) 1-2-2-2-1 = 8 (5) Henric Lindqvist F-1*-1*-N-0 = 2+2 (4) Robin Aspegren 3-2-3-3-2 = 13 (5) Marcus Åström (guest) 1-2-0-1* = 4+1 (4) Jacob Thorssell 3-3-2-1-1-0 = 10 (6) Mikael Axelsson 0-0-0-0 = 0 (4) John Lindman (guest) 3-1-1-2 = 7 (4) 10/07/07 INDIANERNA JUNIOR - ELDARNA 69-27 For the home side, Marcus Johansson made his comeback from an injury but crashed in his second outing and had to withdraw. Indianerna wasn't in any danger despite his withdrawel as reservs Jan Nordwall and Donald Jensen scored 20 paid 26 between them. For Eldarna, only Tommie Lundgren provided some restistence with 11 points in five rides. 10/07/07 IKAROS SMEDERNA - GASARNA 68-28 Ikaros Smederna have only lost once this season, at Gasarna, but they took some sweet revenge as they crushed the Avesta side by forty points. Eric Andersson scored a four ride maximum for Gasarna, but he provided the lonely heat victories of the night in a one sided meeting. Despite the score line, none registrered a paid maximum for Ikaros Smederna. Norwegian Daniel Gunnestad top scored with 15 paid 16 in six rides, though from a reserve position. 10/07/07 GNISTORNA - STJÄRNORNA 72-24 The Stars only managed one heat victory and two tied heats overall. Other then that, it was a tough night for the Hallstavik team, never mind the 450 miles back home on a Wednesday night! Robin Messing and Linus Lydin scored 7 points each for Stjärnorna while Mathias Thörnblom and Niklas Klingberg scored full maximums for Gnistorna, in five and four heats respectively. Former U21 champion Robert Pettersson scored a five ride paid maximum. 10/07/11 HULTFRED'S GYMNASIUM - TEAM VÄRMLAND 64-32 Despite a strong looking heat leader trio, Team Värmland wasn't able to keep on pace with the home side. They also lost reserve Marcus Broqvist to an injury in the pre-meeting training session. Jeremia Thelaus scored 12 points in six rides to become the best away riders, while five (!) riders managed to score double point for Hultsfred. For this week, three meetings (Stjärnorna - Ikaros Smederna, Gasarna - Indianerna Junior and Filbyterna - Gnistorna) will be held on Wednesday. Team Värmland - Eldarna is scheduled for Saturday while Nässjö - Hultsfred's Gymnasium (Wednesday) has been postponed to a later date. -
B***** h***! Robbed of at least 5 entertaining heats vs Kolodziej, Hampel, Crump etc. Fabulous...

SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 11 Tuesday July 6th 2010 ROSPIGGARNA - VARGARNA at Orionparken, Hallstavik After some time on the injury list, Rospiggarna can welcome back Jesper B Monberg into the line-up, replacing Kauko Nieminen. Other than that, it's a pretty much expected line-up, with Ben Barker left out of the line-up after scoring 20 points in 27 heats so far. Vargarna comes from a hammering at Lejonen, and makes two changes to find their winning ways again. Adam Skornicki and Tai Woffinden are replaced by Krzysztof Kasprzak and Adam Shields. On a personal note, I find it a bit surprising that former Rospiggarna rider Adam Skornicki is left out of the team, at a track where he usually goes well. Rospiggarna (home) 1. Mads Korneliussen 2. Jesper B Monberg 3. Wieslaw Jagus 4. Przemyslaw Pawlicki 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Krzysztof Buczkowski 7. Anton Rosén ( 8. Linus Lydin ) Vargarna (away) 1. Adrian Miedzinski 2. Scott Nicholls 3. Krzysztof Kasprzak 4. Daniel King 5. Adam Shields 6. Michael Jepsen Jensen 7. Kim Nilsson ( 8. André Hertzberg ) *-*-* INDIANERNA - DACKARNA at ICA Maxi Arena, Kumla After getting severly beaten at home by Elit Vetlanda, the Indians will look to bounce back as they have another home meeting. Magnus Zetterström is back from his thumb injury, replacing Niels-Kristian Iversen in the main body of the team. That change makes it possible for the management to make another change, at reserve, as Renat Gafurov replaces Daniel Jeleniewski. Dackarna are at full strength so rides with their standard line-up, though Tim Gudmundsson replaces Joel Larsson at the position as number eight junior. Indianerna (home) 1. Leon Madsen 2. Bjarne Pedersen 3. Magnus Zetterström 4. Grzegorz Walasek 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 6. Renat Gafurov 7. Simon Gustafsson) ( 8. Freddy Godlund ) Dackarna (away) 1. Andreas Jonsson 2. Hans Andersen 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Rune Holta 6. Ricky Kling 7. Ludvig Lindgren ( 8. Tim Gudmundsson ) *-*-* VALSARNA - PIRATERNA at Emtbjörks AB Arena, Hagfors Valsarna comes from one home meeting to another, and will look to break their unfortunate four meeting home losing streak. Chris Slabon replaces Roman Povazhny, and Anders Mellgren makes his comeback from injury, starting at the number eight position. Also noticable in the Valsarna camp is that the club have opted to cut the admission prices, to attract more people through the turnstiles. Emil Sayfutdinov and Jonas Davidsson are still out of the line-up for Piraterna, but Linus Sundström is a welcome addition as the junior at reserve, moving Tomas Bäck to number eight, with no scheduled rides. Valsarna (home) 1. Tomasz Gapinski 2. Chris Slabon 3. Daniel Nermark 4. Henrik Gustafsson 5. Sebastian Ulamek 6. Krzysztof Jablonski 7. Victor Palovaara ( 8. Anders Mellgren ) Piraterna (away) 1. Rafal Dobrucki 2. Robert Kosciecha 3. Greg Hancock 4. Damian Balinski 5. Antonio Lindbäck 6. Maciej Janowski 7. Linus Sundström ( 8. Tomas Bäck ) *-*-* ELIT VETLANDA - VÄSTERVIK at Vetlanda Motorstadion After four straight 55+ points meetings, Elit Vetlanda find no reason to change the line-up to this home meeting. Well, except that Jacob Thorssell replaces Jonas Messing as the number eight junior. Janusz Kolodziej once again rides as a heat leader, with Lee Richardson at a second string position. Västervik have, since a while back, found their standard line-up among their choices within the squad. With Tomasz Gollob and Chris Harris in good form, and second strings Peter Ljung and Tomasz Jedrzejak riding at their former home track, Elit Vetlanda should be pushed to reach 55 points for a fifth straight meeting. Elit Vetlanda (home) 1. Janusz Kolodziej 2. Lee Richardson 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Thomas H Jonasson 5. Jason Crump 6. Robin Aspegren 7. Adrian Gomolski ( 8. Jacob Thorssell ) Västervik (away) 1. Rafal Okoniewski 2. Peter Ljung 3. Chris Harris 4. Tomasz Jedrzejak 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Robin Messing 7. Nicolai Klindt ( 8. Robin Bergqqvist ) *-*-* Indianerna vs Dackarna is the Canal+ meeting. Dackarna for the third straight meeting... Elit Vetlanda vs Västervik starts at 18:00 local time to avoid a clash with the World Cup semifinal in South Africa which starts at 20:30. The remaining meetings starts at 19:00. All of them will be covered via live updates on www.speedway.nu.

Number Of Speedway Tracks In The World!
Anders replied to davidba's topic in International World of Speedway
Looks correct, if you use the 1 meeting per year factor. Örebro and Lindesberg don't hold a meeting this year, but hold more of a "practise track" status. Don't know how active they are at the moment. Bollnäs and Östersund are known as ice racing tracks, but speedway is also allowed at these tracks, at least for practise. Not sure about the activity in either Bollnäs and/or Östersund. Järfälla is a stand-alone 80cc track that holds four 80cc meetings this year, among them the Swedish Youth Pairs Championship. -

New date: Wednesday August 4th DIVISION 1 FIXTURES - ROUND 10 Nässjö - Gnistorna 51-45 After beating Team Värmland in a last bend pass victory a couple of weeks ago, Nässjö once again provided stunning entertainment for the crowd as they came from ten points down (10-20) to tie it with only four heats left. Gnistorna skipper Mattias Nilsson and sensational Oliver Berntzon scored a maximum against the inspriational guest choice of Alexander Edberg in heat 13, though the home side cut the deficit in half before the nominational heats. Robert Henderson and Jonas Messing scored a maximum in heat 15 to bring Nässjö into the lead for the first time on night, before Jacob Thorssell and Alex Edberg scored Nässjö's fourth maximum of the night to set the points difference to six points. Unfortunately, the Swedish U19 International Anton Göthberg suffered a crushed vertebra and broken ribs in a heat 8 crash and was forced to withdraw. He was taken to hospital, and will be transferred to Linköping today for surgery. Here's my best wishes for a speedway recovery! Naturally, the absence of Göthberg was a reason why Nässjö was able to stage such a comeback. I'm not foolish enough to think otherwise, before sour grapes from the Gnistorna camp points this out once again. Nässjö 51 Jonas Messing ( 2 2 1* 2* 3 2* ) = 12+3 (6) Lennart Persson ( 0 1 N 0 ) = 1 (3) Alexander Edberg (guest) ( 2 3 3 3 1 2* ) = 14+1 (6) Robert Henderson (guest) ( 1* 1 1 2* 3 ) = 8+2 (5) Jacob Thorssell ( 3 1* 2 3 1 3 ) = 13+1 (6) Henric Lindqvist ( R 0 N 2 ) = 2 (3) Mikael Axelsson ( 1 0 N 0 ) = 1 (3) Gnistorna 45 Mattias Nilsson ( 3 2 3 3 1 ) = 12 (5) Olof Nilsson ( 1 0 0 1 F ) = 2 (5) Robert Pettersson ( R 0 R 0 ) = 0 (4) Oliver Berntzon ( 3 3 3 2* 0 ) = 11+1 (5) Anton Göthberg ( 2 Fn N N ) = 2 (1) Per-Ola Klasson ( 3 2* 0 1 3 1 ) = 10+1 (6) Mathias Thörnblom ( 2* 1* 2 0 1 2 ) = 8+2 (6) Gasarna - Filbyterna 49-47 Another cracker of a meeting was held in Avesta where Gasarna managed to come from six points down with three heats to go, to win it by two! It was a tied meeting before the final heat when Eric Andersson completed his five ride maximum for Gasarna ahead of André Hertzberg and Sebastian Aldén, the latter who made his comeback from injury with an eleven paid twelve score. a 4-2 in heat 16 made all the difference. Stjärnorna - Hultsfreds Gymnasium 43-52 David Hillborg only dropped a single point for the Hallstavik team, but that didn't help as Hultsfred recorded maximums in heats 10 & 12 to open up a nine point lead, something from the home side never recovered. Skipper Marcus Åström had an off day for the winning team, but four riders notched double digit scores, among them was Robin Burestad, a guest from Stjärnorna who made his season debut against his proper team. Team Värmland - Indianerna Junior This meeting is held on Sunday... Eldarna - Ikaros Smederna ...just like this one. -

You are welcome. The point limit for each line-up (riders 1-7) are 42.00. Of the seven riders in the line-up, at least one must be a Swedish junior. There are no point limit for the entire squad. The admissions for Elit Vetlanda are: Adults (from 18 and up): 150 SEK (12.90 GBP / 19.40 USD / 15.70 EUR ) Youth (16 and 17 years): 50 SEK (4.30 GBP / 6.50 USD / 5.20 EUR ) Programme: 30 SEK (2.60 GBP / 3.90 USD / 3.10 EUR) Seating in grand stand: 20 SEK (1.70 GBP / 2.60 GBP / 2.10 EUR) I guess that most of the other clubs have 150 SEK for adults, but possibly have an special OAP and/or student discount as well. We (Elit Vetlanda) don't. I must admit I were surprised to see the attendence figure for last week's TV meeting, I wouldn't have expected that many TBH. If I'm forced to make a guess, my estimation is that the figure is around 20% less people on a TV meeting, than on a meeting against the same team, but without TV. The deal with Canal+ isn't an exceptionally good one from what I've heard, but it's still coverage, and it helps to attract sponsors. For the general finances among the clubs, it could be a struggle for many teams. Attendence figures are way down so far, in comparsion to the averages of last season. Rospiggarna, Lejonen and Västervik have so far lost more than 30% in attendence figure, and the league in general is down by almost 19 %. Alarming figures, and Valsarna have already discussed in cutting costs. We'll have to wait and see...

You're correct, I do see a lot of him. He rode very well at Gröndal, and I guess you remember his pass between Alexander Edberg and Andreas Lekander. That was pure class! Just as his last bend pass to win the meeting at home against Team Värmland. Can he go all the way? That's a difficult question, as you can usually get very excited with several first year riders, I tend to be that myself. But it's a long way to the top, and there are many factors that determines if a rider goes all the way or not. The entire Thorssell family is very dedicated to Jacob's ambitions in trying to establish himself in the sport, both with invested time and money I would say. As a rider, his lack of gating ability early in his 500cc career has already provided him with a racing mentality, and he never knows when he's beaten. His gating is slowly improving, so as long as het gets enough meetings under his belt, he will improve further overall. The trio of Gnistorna's Mathias Thörnblom (92/07/14), Jacob (93/07/24) and Solkatterna's Victor Palovaara (94/01/31) rides in their first year on 500cc, and it will be interesting to follow their progress. I won't label any of them as the "next Jonsson" or anything like that, but no doubt, it will be interesting to follow them.
