  1. Probably because most of our retirements were in good scoring positions at the time they broke down
  2. The track was in a pretty dire condition and the racing was pretty non existent but the closeness of the scores kept it reasonably entertaining, although the constant breakdowns from Peterborough riders favoured Leicester. The referee didn’t help either, heaven alone knows what he was watching when Lawson clearly slowed in heat 5 and Basso ran into him but he excluded the Dane whilst Lawson had similar bike problems in the rerun. The only genuine overtake was Fricke over Iversen in heat 13, all the rest of the action was finished at the conclusion of bend 2 lap one. Leicester did just enough to hang on for the win but it could have been a different story if the Panthers had a full 1-7. Sedgmen was the Leicester match winner whilst Worrall and Cook did their best to keep the scoreline respectable, but it was all about trapping and it was that which ultimately decided the result. Allen had 6 starts and trapped once, winning at a canter in his best effort but looked hopeless in his other 5 rides which gives a good indication of what it was like. Iversen just isn’t quick enough at the moment but the real problem is at no 1, Pedersen quitting has left a large hole and his big average isn’t covered by either RR or a bang average guest.
  3. My understanding is the SCB are controlling the rule book this year with the manager Neil Vatcher ruling on facilities for missing riders and how long they apply. I haven’t read the new regulations cover to cover but it’s available to read following a download from the SCB website.
  4. Not really, because in recent years the club officials, referee and SCB use a speedway line ups website which lists both teams line ups which has to updated several days in advance of the fixture so any problems which are raised are resolved prior to the match date. Well that’s the theory anyway.
  5. Nicely explained by Wolves in todays news, so they knew Saturday but for whatever reason declined to share it. That’s crap PR
  6. It’s been raining in Peterborough since first light and it’s still raining quite hard now.
  7. The heat 7 interval was too enable both teams to put on new tyres
  8. Everyone has that problem, including referees.
  9. Their are always disadvantages to whatever way you build a team, you can only ever cover injuries the best way you can, unfortunately its part of the sport, you cannot cover every possibility.
  10. Nicki was complaining before the match started that it was too grippy which is why they changed the white line, their was definitely a rut on the exit of bend two which most of the Panthers team collected at some point during the match, and all of them lost points and ground because of it. The track clearly wasn’t at its best and with the loss of Pedersen and the other woes, Ipswich took advantage, it’s not the end of the world and it’s still early doors, the meeting itself wasn’t too bad all things considered, the crowd was pretty exceptional though with spectators from various clubs and not just Peterborough and Ipswich. No panic just yet.
  11. Weather is fine and sunny at present and the forecast is good with no rain.
  12. And Ipswich have Email at No 5, love it. I anticipate that their will be strong travelling support from Peterborough so regular weather reports during the day will be very welcome.
  13. What’s the weather like, forecast isn’t too good for later
  14. Belle Vue - Outstanding no 1 with a solid looking team right down the order, Lidsey and Brennan are the key in my opinion but look very likely to make the play offs. Ipswich - Excellent top two but have question marks in a few positions lower down, they will need King to get back to his best and Rew to kick on to do any good. Kings Lynn - Solid looking team right down the order but look to be lacking in the heat leader department, to many question marks for my liking and not sure Jakobsen will save them either. Leicester - Gone for the top heavy look but have paid the price at the bottom which looks very suspect, Fricke and Harris will score good points everywhere but the key will be Lawson and Morris. Peterborough - Plenty of experience but I think it will come down to how well the middle order go, Basso and Cook have potential but question marks remain against Andersen and Worrall. Sheffield - Another solid looking team headed by a good no 1 but they are clearly banking on Bellego to step up and Kerr to produce last years form, they do look likely to make the play offs. Wolverhampton - Same old same old at Monmore but to do any good they need serious improvement from Becker and Douglas, I think they will hold their own at MG but could struggle on the road.
  15. I agree, it should be close, one or two getting over big injuries, new faces and the weather could play a part looking at the weather forecast but it should be a very keenly contested opening match.
  16. That’s assuming Emil gets his work permit and start permission.
  17. The real problem is tracks, they are generally very slick which makes passing in most circumstances very difficult, which of course makes starting well a necessity, which is why we have the usual pre race shenanigans and gardening. If tracks were prepared more for racing as opposed to super slick, trapping wouldn’t be the be all and end all of the racing. Follow the leader crap is not what most supporters want to see.
