Wolves v Sheffield 7th June 2021
bigcatdiary replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have been informed it’s close to 750, which must make it difficult to be cost effective, but then Wolves only uses the home straight for spectators which severely limits numbers. -
EASTBOURNE V KENT K O CUP 6th June
bigcatdiary replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Interestingly the rules say Except when the Referee considers that there are valid reasons for delaying the start of an ensuing heat, the interval between the finish of one heat and the start of the next shall not exceed 4 minutes including the 2 minute allowance. Peterborough v Belle Vue took 1.5 hours including a short interval which was run at a fairly brisk pace which is usual for matches at the EOES. Whats strange is the referee for our match was Paul Carrington, the same as this match. Your point about testing the tapes is a valid one and should be done at least 30 minutes before the start to ensure it’s properly working. -

If Pedersen fails to make a decent impression Monday he will likely be out of a job. -

Ricky Wells in for Lewis Bridger is the latest news, well that comeback lasted well didn’t it. One has to wonder if this illness that forced Bridger to miss meetings is genuine. -

Surely whilst the weather is like this means it’s likely they will hit track problems like yesterday on a regular basis. Has the Management access to other week nights or weekend afternoon or evenings when Greyhound meetings are not taking place. -
At this moment in time I think it’s between Belle Vue, Wolves and Sheffield with Ipswich, Peterborough and Lynn making up the numbers.

25% was mentioned but not sure if it’s accurate, nevertheless the crowd looked quite good despite limited numbers in the grandstand -
Missed opportunities with live streaming

I would have thought in this current situation this was a no brainier for clubs to stream all their home matches. -

Ipswich vs Sheffield 27th May
bigcatdiary replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Certainly not the impression I got after reading Klindts article in the star, sounded like he walked away after deciding he would miss too many matches. Timing was dreadful, good job Allen changed his mind about riding in the UK, credibility isn’t a word that’s particularly relevant to speedway especially here. Their is a lot about speedway that’s unacceptable. You should now as well as anyone that Protests are expensive and generally pointless. Supporters views are not considered it’s what the Promoters and more importantly the MC want that decides things, your boss now is in a better position than most to decide how to run things. The Bates rising star fiasco is yet another subject matter entirely. Your last line is probably something most fans consider every week. -

It’s all about flights availability and costs, I mentioned at the start of the season that some leeway was going to be provided because it’s clear that until the flight availability returns to something like normality riders are going to struggle to get from Poland and Denmark etc into the U.K and vice versa. Unfortunately it was always going to be a can of worms and the BSPL have opened it, regulations were changed to allow facilities for riders who hadn’t yet ridden for their respective teams and going forward for those who would miss meetings due to travel problems. We will have to see if things change but at the moment this is what we have and I can see it going on for a while. I just hope that it’s consistent and applied properly to all. -
