So where did it all go wrong?
bigcatdiary replied to TonyMac's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I class myself as retired and don’t really take any offence from SCB,s post who is just basically putting across his point of view, something we all do. The sport in this country needs to take a major look at itself and the SCB are just a toy for the BSPA, s latest whim and do their bidding, that point was obvious from the Rathbone appeal decision. Its abundantly clear those in power on the BSPA don’t have either the ability or desire to sort the problems out and are just concerned with their own clubs. I disagree with SCB that the rules are OK, they aren’t (they are a complete crock of shyte) but he is right to highlight Lakesides use of their 2018 reserves on old averages which is totally wrong when they have 2017 Premiership averages which can properly be converted. Averages have always played a major part of UK speedway and quite why riders cannot have properly adjusted averages which shows their averages for the league they ride in and a converted one for each of the others is beyond me in this age where it’s all done on spreadsheets. Riders who are new to the UK or don’t possess a current average should be assessed at a level which means they don’t give their new team a distinct advantage over others, this farce of riders coming in on averages well below what their ability deserves has been abused for decades and it’s still going on. i still insist the basic problem is clubs pay out to riders more than they can afford and until they force riders to be realistic I don’t see it improving, if riders cannot commit 100% to their British teams they they shouldn’t be allowed to double up. -
All the promoters, Newcastle and Workington were not represented and Peterborough’s GED Rathbone was suspended and unless Jon Cook went to Tenerife by boat ( he doesn’t fly apparently) that’s four Championship Clubs light straight away. The MC is made up of Keith Chapman (Chairman) Rob Godfrey (Vice Chairman) Colin Pratt, Stewart Dickson and Damien Bates.
-
The problem is it’s probably already rubber stamped, the BSPA MC have sole responsibility to adjudicate on team line ups. I am sure you don’t need reminding who has the control of the MC.
-
So why isn’t Klindt back on his 2016 average as per Lakesides pairing.
-
It wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case, it’s happened before and no doubt will happen again. Interesting comment reference Kennett, I can see your logic but this sport doesn’t do logic does it.
-
Perhaps Scott Nicholls and Edward Kennett should take the matter up with the ACU. It’s obviously the rule is in place to shaft the building plans of sone of the teams, it’s nothing new to be fair, they play this stupid game every year.

I should think Clegg still qualifies for a 2.5 reduction
-
Took some advice from Godfrey I should think.
-
Basically what Lindgren is saying that if his pay rate is cut too much he wont ride in the UK, tbh I should think that will apply to a lot of clubs but clubs should only pay what they can afford.

Well if you cannot see the advantage their is no point in explaining it further. -

No it’s because other clubs cannot afford the 5k signing on fee. -

And they also weren’t the only Championship team by a long way to run fixtures missing riders and with no facility. -

So would I be if I watched the Panthers lose 5 finals in one season -

Interesting result because I cannot remember the last time an ACU appeal overturned a SCB hearing result, I dare say someone will help me out if it has happened before. Either way I think we should be told what’s happened to Godfrey. -
Being honest everyone on here knows how you have assembled your team this year and it’s not because you just pay regular. It’s a great looking team and should be right at the top for predictions but a lot of what’s being said now was said last year and that didn’t exactly work out did it. Injuries and luck play a big part every season, nevertheless it’s a very good starting line up.

What was it someone said this year about Ipswich - 5 finals and didn’t win one. It’s all very good challenging but worth jack if you don’t win anything -
Tactical Substitutes Question?
bigcatdiary replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Surely if tac subs are allowed why limit it to one, I think 8 points behind is about right with any amount of tac subs allowed if and when a team is 6, 8 or 10 behind, either it’s acceptable to make matches closer or it isn’t. If promoters cannot afford it then don’t have them it at all, really is the same with team building if a team wants to use build top heavy instead of strength in depth I don’t see a problem, limiting it to one rider over 8 is ridiculous enough but to run all the uk leagues on different rules, formats etc is madness and certainly doesn’t help the refs, who get it wrong enough as it is. -
Set Days The Ruin Of The Championship

To be fair I think set nights this year is the only positive move other than getting rid up of the TR to come out of this years AGM -
Heard this a lot about Sedgmen, his demands are becoming as legendary as his injuries, perhaps a year in Australia might change things.
-
Personally I thought Nicholls explained it quite well that he was more than willing to sign for the Witches last year but wasn’t offered the chance, guest appearances are all about extra money so I don’t blame him at all for taking the bookings. Rumour has it he was set to replace Grajczonek at Sheffield in 2018 but the rule change buggered it up, probably why Bjerre is now set for a return after originally looking out of their team plans.
