We can all be negative at times but in Speedway and life in general it is far healthier to concentrate and celebrate the positives. It is all to easy to criticise and I have been guilty myself but it is important to support riders and the team as a whole , even more so when they may go through a difficult time. Breaking news: Riders are human beings . -

Well what can I say after that showing I,m not going back to watch the Comets again......... Stopped reading the posts half way through....what do people really want. Here is what I witnessed , great racing , a big crowd and good weather. Some fine prospects who are already showing that in the future are going to be stars in the sport. Celina and Sam along with Antii and Tate are new to the championship will take time to adjust to the tracks, Cookie , Claus and Batch all showed fighting spirit. Berwick have a decent side and may get some silverware this year but I,m more than happy with the Workington side, optimist maybe , realist definitely. Most of well done to the management and all who help putting on the Workington show.- 138 replies

Not sure of our average crowd last year , maybe 500 /600. The track is on the site of the old Northside training track and is around a 30 minute walk from the town centre . -

Not too bothered going to be an entertaining team, hopefully winning at home and gradually getting better away, some tough away fixtures this season .

Weather not too bad in the morning (tomorrow) but cold, then wet in the afternoon.
-
Personally the swearing did not bother me but imagine if this was a Football, Cricket or Rugby Union media day, I get Tai has a outgoing personality and given this maybe Phil Morris should have had a word with the riders beforehand to highlight that this is going out live.

Seven riders required.

Agree but probably down to the organisers of the Ben Fund to assemble the meeting riders. Workington Press and Practice the following week so it will be the first time people will see the full one to seven riders who will be lining up for the Comets. Yes I know other tracks are still to have there own practice sessions to fit in before the season starts.

Can see your thinking but meetings cost money to promote/run and whilst riders will gladly turn up for this event I am sure they will need some costs to be met , plus this field of riders looks like being one of the best so far in the history of the event. The UK is going through a cost of living crisis and while there is not much difference between £20 and £23 the effect over a few thousand people is massive and will go a long way in helping riders now and in the future.

In talks with a rider for the past two weeks to check the feasibility of a deal. Speedway Star.

That might be the reason , another. Aussie ?

“I decided I did not want to do the Championship in the UK in 2024 as the travelling is too much between here and Poland every weekend, but I did want to do the Premiership still. I guess because of my illness last year I underperformed so no one made an offer or wanted to take a chance but I am willing and able to come back if needed. So with the quality in the line-up for the Ben Fund meeting I can hopefully remind a few promotors what a fully fit Erik Riss is capable of.
