I am surprised we have survived for this long, the death knell has been ringing for about 2 years now! The theory of a £10.00 sport is all very well and many would like it to be but many factors come in to the equation for it to be viable, the main ones being rent of the stadium, attendances and any club sponsorship. Having crowds of 300/500 blow this out of the water.

Speedway shuts down on summer for 3 months

Come on , we really need to run from March to October to ensure all the fixtures are completed...……………………….

I tend not to get involved in the pits gossip, he said that , he had a spat talk, all hearsay and un truths most of the time. Any way regarding the Scunthorpe meeting it was more entertaining than the Newcastle meeting on Friday, standout riders being Ben Barker and Jake Allen , the Scorpions kept it close for the first seven heats before Campton and Jensen got a 5-1 in heat 8 and slowly built up a big lead.. I thought it would be a much closer contest but Scunthorpe turned out to be a virtual 2 man team though they were not helped by falls from Auty and Garrity later in the meeting. Kyle Bickley is slowly getting there, showing a greater determination especially in the fist and second bends of the first lap.

If Cook rode for Workington , I would still rather see Speedway live and record the GP.

As I have said before the BSPA as a whole take the blame for this chaos and not fof the first time. Each club wants the best chance for themselves when riders are available and fit but in the end just make# things worse for everyone , basically the problems in general with British Spe3dway.

It’s going to be mid October before Worky and Glasgow meet, Comets v Edinburgh home and away next weekend then Torun the week after.

Workington's second meeting of the weekend is against Scunthorpe in the Championship Shield (its been that long I don't know what its about) with the Comets only needing a win to advance into the next round? Weather looks good, the Comets have Ben Barker as a guest for the injured Dan Bewley and Ty Proctor back from injury.

Weather forecast for Friday looks to be ok with some showers in the morning according to the BBC weather app.

Another busy weekend for the Comets when this Friday night the Newcastle Diamonds are back at Derwent Park in this Koc 2nd leg quarter final. At the time of writing its still in doubt whether Ty Proctor will be fit for the Comets, the last time Newcastle were at Derwent Park the Comets racked up a massive score but the racing was still good, lets hope for something similar, also a good send off to Stuart Robson a fine servant to British Speedway. If we progress in both competitions this weekend then the fixture list will become very chaotic, with Play off fixtures and the outstanding Lakeside meeting still to run...………..weather permitting!!

Slick presentation has improved at Workington this season but the debacle of the fixture list is just one thing the BSPA continually get wrong. Many small improvements in presentation and promotion that do not cost a fortune are so often over looked.

Would be a great shame if Derwent Park was to be demolished , it is one of the best stadiums in the country for viewing Speedway and the track if prepared well (which it usually is) provides a great racing strip. This is provided there is a promoter willing to run the Speedway in 2019.
