Edinburgh Academy V Workington Comets
phillwhitewasmad replied to paul84's topic in National League Speedway
Luke's first time there on a 500 and we thought other than struggling with the entry to turn 3 early on he rode it well. The race with him and Dayle passing and re passing was fantastic to watch -
UK Speedway in Turmoil?
phillwhitewasmad replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Limiters are enforced abroad but not in the uk . They are set at 13500 revs so can't go above that personally not sure they help as bikes are only at that level momentarily on the start -
Workington v Leicester 08/07/2023 3pm ko cup 1st leg
phillwhitewasmad replied to topaz325's topic in National League Speedway
Sadly this topic is becoming a reflection of British speedway and it's crazy average driven team building system. In Luke's case comes back after injury scores fairly well and ends up in the main body of the team after 4 meetings which in our opinion for a new rider is a ridiculous state of affairs. Yesterday showed for us even though we were happy with his scores it's a big leap forward due to the way the heats are. -

Lads were not given the option prior to heat one it was photo and get on with it . Two minutes came on and away they went. Personally think it was the wrong decision as the rain was constant the meeting was never going to finish especially on a 20 heat format where riders have back to back races at heat 4 8 12 and 16 . After heat 4 some wanted to continue others didn't but personally think it was right to stop. Think the sport dodged a bad press bullet yesterday if one rider got hurt riding an unfit track the neigh sayers would be having a field day -
Luke like Ashton had heaps of offers to guest last year . We chose not to do anything until after 250cc sgp3 was out the way and then due to circumstances and unavailability he only managed 2 meetings. Not sure on Ashtons offers for this season but we had six and was always getting narrowed down to clubs doing the cup meetings .

Luke came through five rides with no adverse effects last week. He was a little tender on the Monday but has been good all week after so let's what see what tomorrow brings sincerely hoping the seven isn't on the cards . -

Workington v Mildenhall 03/06/23 3pm.
phillwhitewasmad replied to topaz325's topic in National League Speedway
100% true sadly our sport looks for the next bright prospect promises so much and fails so often. I don't understand why we don't have under 21 British riders at both reserve positions until they're 20 or 21 regardless of the averages. Also would like to see top three average riders in a team at 1,3,5 and the 4th and fifth at 2 the 4 . Reserves should only ride against each other twice then the oppositions 2 and 4 once as this is where the next step out of reserve is . Having young reserves race against heat leaders is a frankly ridiculous state of affairs. -

Would say he's about 85% at the moment no issues on the bike but feels it when the adrenaline stops. As a family we are happy with his recovery so far- 46 replies

Kent Royals license revoked!

A lot keeps getting said that scunthorpe run Nora speedway events as a point of interest could someone actually clarify which meetings these were and on what dates and which riders were present. Or is it that scunthorpe run Nora licences events such as dirt diggers meeting, flat track series run by Richard Hollingsworth or stock cars. would be interesting to get the full picture based on facts rather than assumptions based on not liking Rob Godfrey. -
As we thought Luke is fit to ride but is lacking race fitness, Proud of the young man yesterday a slide off when over compensating for his injury then to lay it down to avoid Sam who had slid off in front of him in heat 9. And to go out again in heat 11 when asked was a step too far and he pulled up as he was struggling. We as a family took huge positives from this got his lap in and the first meeting since his crash is out the way.

That's not true the team was redeclared after Luke's injury as the first indications was he would be out for 8 to 10 weeks

Nora Speedway
phillwhitewasmad replied to Rob Dyer's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
No idea under what guise they are run why not ask Richard instead of going round in circles on here making assumptions to suit your way of thinking . Getting the answer from the man is always a step in the right direction -

Don't think you were treated any differently. Difference is this is totally amateur and not run in conjunction the scb/Bspl meetings like mdsl meetings are. -

No idea if Boston and Hull are trying this is a totally amateur event so wouldn't see why they would have to be. Think if you enter a team in an amateur meeting you can call them what you want . Covering expenses is payment which ever way you look at it. I would suggest if you want to run your Racers team contact Richard I'm sure he could help. -

It's a Richard Hollingsworth organised event he puts scunthorpe team together to run alongside other classes in amateur meetings. Think Lee and kean dicken organised the hull team the amsa team is done by their organisation and I think Sam woods does Boston. This event is open to anyone who wants to put a team together just contact Richard. The main difference here is all riders pay to enter and no payments are made to riders and fans don't pay to watch, so it's different from the IOW events and the Mdsl where fans pay and or riders are paid. If you would like to enter a team contact Richard I'm sure he would be happy to include more teams. -
Me to so the younger lads get to compete against there piers . Sport really missed a trick in 21 after Covid should have made huge changes for the future but sadly didn't. Never mind though we can always get a 27 year old Aussie in the NDL on a 3 point average and support it
