Yep or decide to retain him if progressing well. My hope is that teams who have a rider who progresses well enough to move out of the system because of experience or averages is kept on in the main body rather than being replaced the following year for a foreign rider just to increase the asset base. -

In fairness he probably signed prior to the announcement and did so in good faith. Also if has signed as an asset there's nothing to stop him riding for them at some point in the future. To be honest though why would a young rider sign for any club as an asset unless they have something tangible offer or promise in front of them. it's going to be difficult for many riders who want to ride at a specific track but end up elsewhere. unfortunately if British speedway doesn't protect the places now it never will. Lots of riders and parents have constantly asked for more help and protection and now it's here people are moaning because some riders may have to go somewhere they don't want to be. -

There is nothing to say a rider has to get to the next star in a season bu there is a time and age limit on it at this moment. As I understand it once a rider has completed a minimum amount of years in he professional leagues he will lose the star grading protection of riding at reserve. National league is not classed as professional as I understand it -

Yes there is no protection of your preference on place you want to ride . It's the places they are protecting so if a team has first pick in the draft system and pick rider A he can then decide if he wants to accept or not . If the rider says no the place shall remain open to another rising star and rider A drops out of the scheme. There is no deal to do other than travel money as points payment is set. I would suggest though that prior to any announcement a team would of approached a rider before hand to make sure he's happy going there . -
Who are the Rising Stars?
phillwhitewasmad replied to enotian's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
yes i know that and understand it but they are offering to protect the position for scheme members its up to the rider as to whether they accept it. why should a rider who accepts all the terms and conditions of the scheme which are numerous be overlooked just because another rider dosent want to join it because his draft track isnt near to home. for me its a positive step granted their could be some riders who end up having to travel further than they wanted but its the tough harsh reality your not barred from riding just taking up rising star positions a rider can still ply their trade in national league to help them get to a level where they can get a 1 to 5 place. it a harder route but its a personal decision . -

you only need enough riders to cover the championship so would depend on number of teams so for arguments sake 10 teams 20 riders the best of which will double up to the premiership. after that i assume some will stay as rising stars and others will either no longer fit the criteria or decide to no longer be part of it. so can see at least 10 being required the following year and so on. with the volume of riders on the list already and those coming through i do believe a 5 year plan is achievable but only time will tell. -

as i read it there are no consequences you either accept a place on the scheme with the terms and conditions applied which means as i understand it protected places for british youth riders. or you dont accept it and have to take your chances with every other rider . as i understand it there are are no sanctions you can still ride just not in the protected scheme. i think it can work going forward just needs time to settle 2022 will be the telling year as its first full season under the regs as stated. bonus for is we wont have to go to Edinburgh -
Who are the Rising Stars?
phillwhitewasmad replied to enotian's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
yes and lets use my lad as an example born and bred in scunthorpe and helped massively by the club and its owner, rode for berwick in the junior league and the team there who run the Juniors have been instrumental in his development ,and as i read it may not have the choice of going to either in his first season (if he makes it) because of the system set out . He could end up 249 miles from home with little choice in the matter. My attitude is if they BSPL are guaranteeing the spots as per the system set out then we have to suck it up . remember riders dont have to accept the scheme they can decline and make their own way through (some will ). -

the list posted is the list sent out but it has been edited in all there are three pages to it and there is a peace missing from that page that is on here describing how it works. i agree there are one or two anomalies but on the whole it is quite fair when you know the full criteria on how gradings were set and how it works going forward. -

Who are the Rising Stars?
phillwhitewasmad replied to enotian's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Rising stars are not a mystery the rules for 2021 were written so the majority of the teams could if able to go with there 2020 team Poole I believe being the only anomaly as they had two Aussie riders at reserve. After 2021 the system going forward will be an excellent opportunity for young British riders as it constantly keeps open the reserve berths for them. Only thing I see in it is there no compulsion for teams to keep riders in the teams after they no longer fulfil the criteria to be on the rising star scheme. yes there will be some tweaking but from what I have seen it's well thought out -
I'm not worried at all personally hope all teams can stay same just don't see it

In fairness mate I'm protective over scunthorpe because I was born and bred there. It's the team I followed in the 70s and 80s and again since 2005. The club and its owner have been a major part in the development of my lad as a rider and for which we shall be eternally grateful. I make no secret of who I am and have said on many occasions that Luke Harrison the current 250cc champion is my son -

It's not a secret riders and parents are being informed first , and no promoters have divulged the info it was sent directly from the scb at acu house. no lies been old so unfortunately there is no conspiracy and no investigation needed. Would suggest from your post you aren't a rider, parent of a rider or official of a club or the bspl so why would you need to know just yet -

Evening Dave hope your well seen the list and you are correct. One or 2 slight anomalies for me but nothing you could argue with really and there one really young kid on list who has plenty of potential but not sure if he should be on it yet. -

National League AGM (or whatever they have)
phillwhitewasmad replied to BuxtonTiger's topic in National League Speedway
No don't think so even though I do believe the inclusion of 250cc riders in the scunthorpe Leicester challenge last year was a success. Think it's more on the structure and make ups rather than capacity of the machines -
Can see at least 2 changes to that team before season starts.

Won't be Schlien he's off to Poole. Bwd not a bad call but like palmdawg says Berge is a better option
