  1. Agree with you but a seven point defeat isn't to shabby, especially as you say when one or two of the Workington riders had, for them, poor nights. Sadly after being taken off by Ben Barker last night, Matt Williamson will be unable to take his place in tonight's meeting, awaiting news of a replacement. Hopefully young Matt wont be out for long.
  2. I thought the track rode well last night, with some of the racing for the minor places pretty good. It is true however that the track was dry, I am sure it would've been watered yesterday morning but the forecast chance of the odd shower never happened and with the football being at home that would mean the top surface was very dry when the track team had a chance to get on it after the football.
  3. Chris Holders interview may have been a short one, but it spoke a thousand words. Huge respect to the guy just for turning up never mind the way he raced.
  4. Great GP with proper speedway and a truly worthy winner especially after having to pick himself off the deck. Tai Woffinden`s title to lose now, and he will be a worthy World Champ. Obviously this week emotions have been running high with the plight Darcy Ward finds himself in, but I thought it was disgraceful to see Tai effing and blinding during his interview last night, surely he could've sent his best wishes to Ward without the bad language.
  5. Giving the similarities between the two tracks there`s no reason why Berwick cant put up a decent show and performance tonight.
  6. Delighted to get back to winning ways, guests played a big part in particularly Ryan Fisher who certainly has a liking for Shielfield. Berwick seemed to have the meeting well in control but an 8-1 in Ht11 made this tighter towards the end of the meeting. After a last place in his first ride Anders Mellgren can be proud of his debut for his new club, and by the looks of things we have a rider who can make consistent good starts. Good to see Matt Williamson get up from an untidy crash after he was the victim of an over ambitious move from Ben Barker in Ht6, with Barker rightly excluded. I will be sitting down over the next few days to watch the Memories of Berwick dvd I bought last night, by the looks of things their stock was all but sold out by the time I left the stadium so the club can look forward to making a few quid after the generous deal from the people at Retro Speedway.
  7. Weather looks okish for Berwick today, there will be the odd shower around this afternoon but they will be mostly in the west of the Border, so with a bit of luck Berwick will escape. Hopefully tonight's meeting there will be a prompt start, no accidents and a full meeting including the junior meeting which in some weeks is as enjoyable to watch as the big boys.
  8. Berwick`s guests plus new signing look a bit to strong for Workington, and a home win will be make a welcome change after having to sit through the last few weeks.
  9. http://www.berwickbandits.co/article/edinburgh-vs-Berwick Meeting called off due to rain.
  10. Did Peter Collins ever race at Berwick, maybe not in an actual league meeting but in some demonstration races.
  11. With you with all of the names except Tony Rickardsson who I don't think rode at Berwick, maybe Berrington.
  12. I see more than 30 but less than 40, which for Berwick isn't a bad Armadale performance, to be fair that is on par with most teams going to Edinburgh.
  13. No, though with a new signing and our guest it should, at least, be less embarrassing.
  14. Maybe the previous two posters could start a forum all of their own.
  15. Lets get the Edinburgh and Workington meetings out of the way first before worrying about Sunday`s trip to the home of the Comets.
  16. While I agree that the scenes outside Ward`s hospital have been unbelievable, and hopefully Ward will have heard that support, I also remember seeing photo`s of Falubaz fans a few weeks ago jumping the fence onto the track while a race was on, just to try to get at the flags of that days opposition.
  17. Obviously all thoughts will be with the situation that Darcy Ward finds himself in, but I hope as many people attend this meeting as IMO the riders there tonight deserve their support.
  18. There are NINE former individual speedway World Champions featured racing at Berwick on our new DVD, plus a 10th competing against the Bandits on his home track. For a bit of fun, who will be the first to name all nine (or 10) correctly...? It would be great to meet up with the 'Speedway Family' at Berwick this coming Saturday night for the launch of our brand new Memories of Berwick Speedway DVD. The triple disc, six-hour set costs just £16 and containing dramatic footage of countless races from the Bandits' two homes - at Berrington Lough and their current location of Shielfield Park. Anyone who buys a copy of the DVD from Susie and Tony Mac at Berwick on Saturday will receive a free copy of Backtrack magazine, PLUS automatic entry to a free raffle prize draw where you could win a framed copy of the first ever Berwick programme for the opening meeting on May 18, 1968. The winner and two runners-up in the draw will also receive Retro Speedway goodie bags containing DVDs, a book and magazines. So this is another good reason to visit Berwick for the Bandits' home Premier League match against Workington Comets on Saturday (Aug 29) at 7.00pm. Latest weather forecast for the Berwick region on Saturday is good! Again this isn't my post, but one from the years gone by section. Thinking caps on with the World Champion question.
  19. Probably the only Berwick manager to have a 100% record. One swallow doth not a summer make, Mellgren for Edberg makes Berwick stronger and our guests should do the job, yet I still fear a comfortable home win. News tonight that Jorgensen has crashed in Denmark and has suffered a shoulder injury.
  20. I can scarcely believe it hasn't already been pointed out, and I know one or two would worry, but the referees report marked the track for the Somerset as "excellent". Now I think its fair to say some would take issue with the previous weeks report for the Sheffield meeting, but I for one would agree with last weeks refs report from Tony Steele. Credit where credit is due well done to the good work from the track team.
  21. He also feels pretty wronged about the way he was dropped from Rye House, so has a point to prove, especially in the meeting against his former club in a week or two.
  22. Trouble is, there`s a real possibility this bubble is about to burst.
