Happy Hunter
I've not gone back to the start of this thread but I cast from my phone to the TV through a Chromecast Dongle.

Yeah like my elderly parents who upgraded their TV to a smart TV and also upgraded to superfast fibre to be able to watch BSN when it first came available 2 or 3 years ago, and now their stuck unable to watch it after paying out for a yearly pass, piss poor if you ask me, yeah its fine telling people they can cast/mirror it from a phone/tablet or HDMI cable it from a laptop but my parents who are 85 aint tech savvy and it is beyond them to figure out, even if i showed them how to do it they'd of forgotten by the time the next meeting came around, and i aint local enough to keep popping round every meeting to keep getting it set up for them🤨

I was happy with the way it worked, don’t have a tablet or a useable laptop and have never cast anything anywhere. So, after paying for the pass asked for and received (very quickly) a full refund. BSN was very good, probably still is, but I don’t need the hassle especially when I can watch Polish speedway using my smart tv browser. Why change something that worked? All they'd have to do is turn the laptop/nuc on and switch the TV source to the required hdmi source?

I'm all for progress, but if it wasn't going to be ready for the start of the season, they really should have left it until next season imo... or at least signalled the change before selling season passes. 2

Not being funny Iain but they'd even struggle to switch the TV source on to the required hdmi source, there's been occasions where they aint even been able to find the web browser on the TV and if ive shown them once then ive shown them 100 times how to do it, if this new App doesn't work when its finally available then I'll probably be asking for a refund for them same as Wee Eck did.

I have not had any trouble watching through Apple TV box. What’s confusing me is have they done something to BSN App from last season that is making it incompatible to TVs that it worked on last season? Just Asking?

Just Asking? I think the current new version of the App basically wont work on a Smart TV as the old version had for the last few yrs as the Web browsers on the TVs cant run with the new version or summit, basically their messed it up for the people who used to watch it thru their Web browser on a smart tv, like been said they should of left it as it was if it was gonna cause this much bother for people, or at least role it out when it was fit for purpose and suited everyone however they preferred to watch it, some people may prefer to cast/mirror it from a phone/tablet or hdmi it via a laptop or whatever, but for the older generation its beyond them especially my parents anyway, it was pretty much hassle free the last few seasons since BSN started viewing it via the web browser on a smart tv, so much for progress😐
AFCB Wildcat
Is there a problem with BSN at the moment? I wanted to watch the Ben Fund that I bought but didn't get to watch fully at the time, but it won't let me sign in. The instruction said "if using the new site for the first time, press 'forgot password' & re set it. I did that and got the email link but Im just getting auth/invalid-action-code I'm probably being dumb, but any advice would be appreciated 🙂

Con tact Martin Hunter he will help you. Can't agree with this, I contacted them after having problems re-registering with my hotmail address, he replied to say the problem was at their end and he would get back to me once they sorted a fix, never heard a peep from him. Considering the cost of a full package you would think they would be keen to ensure they don't lose subscribers due to glitches in their system. Luckily I was able to sort things out and get the package, lucky for me because I want to watch speedway, lucky for them because it's £270 they would have missed out on. As for the problems people are having when trying to watch on tv like they did last season, thankfully I only watch on my laptop, must be so frustrating to have shelled out the money for inferior product/service. ElmParkRG2
My wife and I are into our 80's, whilst we can (just about) select the right HDMI for changing from TV to video etc., we do not have a smart phone, as all we want from a mobile phone is to press a few buttons to make an emergency call when we are out of the house. We do not have a laptop either, so it seems it is not worth the hassle to subscribe to BSN. Discovery or whatever it is now is far too expensive for us as pensioners so speedway will not be seen in our house this years, at least. Hopefully next year the SGP's will be more affordable and BSN will be more OAP friendly. I won't hold my breath though!
martinmauger
Just sayin', a couple weeks ago I was about to 'pull the trigger', so to speak, on the full BSN package, both leagues. Then local internet slowed to a crawl (yet again) for a few days so sadly, nope. Know what you're prob thinking, my Dad's Pc is pretty much idenitcal spec to mine, yet living 26 miles West of Hull & so on a different server / provider (in Hull local KCOM have the monopoly), his 'net speed is instant. In fact it's a pleasure to use. Shame, but this it how it is this area, 'least til the entire local network is fully upgraded to full fibre broadband.... (At 58 I attend and feel young!)..... You would think that a major part of the business plan would be to cater specifically for the more "advanced" in years... The "grey pound" is probably the biggest sector the sport has....
