Or indeed just like so many failed speedway promoters throughout the country! Ian Thomas used to say if you are officially making money as a promoter then you're not doing it right 😀

Riders mechanics and management all travelling together when riders were relatively local and not coming in from all parts of the country/europe

Ron Wilson got on the phone and got a reasonable side together for opposition including Crowson and Alan Knapkin. IIRC 1969?

The clubs, themselves, supply the bikes on the day, all to a set standard, so no one could complain they got a duff bike. It would take away the 'he's only good because he spends £X on specialist tuning'. All too late now. It has been discussed before and of course, many have views why it wouldn't work. But, the current model/set-up, definitely isn't working. I can't see how the sport can be attractive to a rider in this country? Does Bomber Harris really think his son will have an eventual future in speedway? A nice photo on FB of Bomber taking his daughter for a spin on his bike on the way to her prom... Before taking her to it in "the Bentley"!... So maybe he does see a future!!!!😁

The population of Berwick-on-Tweed is only 12,000. with no larger town or city for 60 miles. Speedway has survived continuously in Berwick for 57 years. Whatever the reason for the ebb and flow of speedway appreciation in Workington, it isn't lack of population. But in reality their catchment area where Berwick Speedway draws their customers from is alot wider than just Berwick Upon Tweed, not so many in number as there previously was but people still travel from Dunbar, North Berwick, Milfield and the like. I would argue with your population figure of Berwick as I would put it slightly higher than 12000. Where I do agree with you is its a minor miracle that Berwick Speedway continues to this day, fair to say its been a rocky road at times but we still have speedway.

I have friends who are Berwick fans that live in Newcastle, this bit is not relevant to anything really but imo Berwick is the best club in British speedway, there is something about the place which is a real club/team/town place, maybe because it’s a small town but places like bedrocks, black and gold and formally the grove and the small beach and shielfield are all part of the spirit of the town, I had a couple of happy years there where I was made to feel like I was one of them, I still make sure I visit at least once a season despite living 250miles away, anyway enough of me reminiscing, come on Workington, speedway needs you Edited July 8 by THE DEAN MACHINE

Woke23
So we seen both Antti and Vinnie being unable to guest for teams due to the ban. However, I have just seen tate is now guesting for Redcar on Friday. Anyone any clues? Is it a sign? Are redcar being numb?
