I'd have to disagree. I looked around and thought there were many more in attendance compared to last time out. Opening the 3rd and 4th bend for viewing has probably stretched it out considerably. I couldn't see many empty spaces and a lot were sitting, stood on the decking areas, and on the standing platforms.

Well on the home straight, hit by the strong sun, there were plenty of *gaps*...granted the thankfully nicely shaded back straight was quite busy for sure.

*sight* is courtesy of specsavers!

Not even a mention to Dick Barrie who did the coin toss and worky actually won the first one at home.I can never tell about the crowds but I do know there was a car load for the first time over from Newcastle today and 4 local guys who are into moto X where there for the first time.Good meeting and plenty of passing and it takes two teams.Track was well watered at the start and started to dry out and still got covered in dust even though they where watering.Think it was a bad accident on the way back as two air ambulances and had to go via Cockermouth,Hope all is well with the people involved.

I usually stand at bend 1 but didn't fancy being cooked yesterday so also stood in the shade at bend 3, probably a few others had the same idea by the looks of it.  I was expecting a better attendance but I daresay a few people with or without families would have already have decided to take advantage of the rare warm weather and took day trips to the coast, lakes etc or were just sitting out with drinks in their garden.  Let's see if this winning result against Poole encourages a few more next time.

Cant find anything in print to confirm it, but I believe two people died in the crash ?  Anyone able to confirm this ?

Poole will almost certainly win by more than 56/34 at home and win the aggregate point, if it happened to be a play off match would go through on aggregate. Although Poole fans aren't happy with the team, I think Ford will continue with it, still more than likely win the league/playoffs without the cost of re working the team.

IMO the crowd was up on previous attendances, a few pilots fans made the long journey, thanks for travelling, also some Glasgow fans made the trip down, as they said we're starved of speedway and travelled down to watch some live action, they prefer not to go to armadump, also would think several Poole fans would have bought the stream, all money for the club

Well done to the Comets, much better on the day. Ian Brannan can go home Happy.

You realise you’re watching a Workington club stream, so shock horror it probably is a little balanced towards the team who own it 😂

I get accused of being anti Poole by Poole fans, and Poole biased by away fans, and in reality I’ve covered more Poole meetings than any other club including all bar one cup final where I think you’d have a hard job saying I was anti Poole. I’ve also been issued with a Bailie House survivors T shirt by Middlo.

Now when BSN do the fixture against Redcar, well maybe that will be harder 😂

There`s a joke in there somewhere about Barrie being a great tosser, but I will leave that to others.

I was in my usual position ,on the back straight, and looking over at the home straight opposite my mate and I both were of the opinion it was the least populated for many a match - was very sparsely attended.

But there seemed more around us than normal. Talking to fans next to us they said because the back straight was in the shade, very very warm day, they, and many others, had left the 'hot spot' down the home straight for comforts sake.

So all things considered probably disappointing for Andrew and co. ???

If Speedway clubs announced attendances, wouldn't have to wonder. Other sports do, speedway does in other countries, but pretty much never over here. Why?

Ok, eating humble pie today.  From what I witnessed yesterday, Poole are now a bang-average team and no longer the bogey team that everybody used to fear.  The loss of Tom Brennan and Ben Cook obviously being the big leveller, Lawson carried the bulk of the work yesterday with not much back up.  A good, solid, all-round performance from what I would have thought would have been a ring-rusty Comets, good to see Tate Zische getting back to where he was last season, also Frazer Bowes has improved noticeably from earlier on in the season.

The points limit was the leveller. Poole were always going to be weaker than last year.

I don't think Poole are a "bang average" team though. Still amoungst the favourites for the league, if not the favourites. Even if they lose the bonus point shouldn't hurt their top 4 aspirations. But I would still fancy Poole to score 52+ at home to the Comets.

This result has made the league more interesting for sure, keeps Comets in the play-offs fight (they'll really be regretting those 2 lost points) while let's everyone know Poole aren't invincible.

Maybe,

Dissuading possible sponsors maybe also if they knew how few went to most tracks...

And could dissuade possible new attendees who see the attendance's and decide there is no FOMO there...?

Thank you.....that's how us regular back straight fans saw it - gaps aplenty right opposite us. And let's be honest in this weather(hot, hot, hot) whatever time speedway starts lots of folk have other plans.

That excuse from Shovlar is absolutely comical.

Good to see Workington comeback and get a big win. Tate Z seems to be regaining some form, Worky look a different animal if he stays fit and keeps this form up. Two good scores in two nights should do him the world of good.

Regarding Kerr, to be honest he was a weird Poole signing from the get go. On the way down, very rarely completes a full season and very little scope for improvement. Starke you knew what you were going to get but has added to his average, absolutely zero point dropping him now.

People going on about Foord yet his average is half a point below Starke according to a few on this thread and Starke is taking more rides as well.

pretty much agree pinny, also the  thinking would have been that cairns would score big enough that it wouldnt matter to much what the other reserve did in their three rides, and of course  cairns  may  still very well do that,(need to keep him at reserve come play offs!)
