As we saw from several riders, the wider area provided nothing by way of grip - it was only if they stuck their back wheel on the inner edge of the dirt line. Maybe Thompson was aiming for that, Kerr simply dived under him and negotiated the bend quite easily. Totally agree, and it was an error on Dan’s part. Such a shame because after a poor night, you could see the determination to do it for his team in that heat and he done fantastically well to overtake Kerr in the first instance.

Could Kerr have pulled out of that move he had committed to?

Could Kerr have pulled out of that move he had committed to? Yes is the simple answer. Dan left enough room for a double decker bus and Kerr went through it. There were several people up in the box and every single one of us knew that it was over as soon as Dan hit the deck and that he was getting excluded. There really is no argument to be had here. The only slight doubt was that the referee might be a “Homer” and wrongfully exclude Kerr. Edited Saturday at 05:58 AM by Aries

And then lie on the track for ten minutes whilst his mechanics checked his bike over in the pits...

It turns out Thompson has been suffering with an ear infection - he pulled out of Glasgow’s match on Friday - I wonder if that had any effect on his perception, thoughts, balance? Oh well - as said by many, the Witches should never have been in that position.
PhilTheAce
Just watched the meeting back on YouTube. and there was even a bigger gap than I thought on the video. Correct decision by the ref

Baldyman
I think I was one of the first, of not the first saying the move was okay and that Witches fans would see it that way if it was their rider doing it. Glad to see a video proving me right. I'm a witches follower that doesn't wear Rose tinted glasses

cowboy cookie returns?
I was stood on the first bend & because of the air fence I couldn’t see the gap. After watching the clip on line it’s clear the referee got it 100% correct. The terraces given Kerr a hard time & booing was totally understandable given what was a stake. If it had been the other way round & at Saddlebow Road the Lynn fans would have done the same. It shows passion from the supporters, adds atmosphere & provided a massive talking point.
