SCB statement says

SCB STATEMENT: GATE SELECTIONS

Wednesday August 06, 2025

The SCB are aware that the choice of gate positions at the Belle Vue v Ipswich Premiership Fixture on Monday 4th August was not decided by a coin toss therefore breaching SCB Regulation 012.1.28.

The Premiership authorities have been informed of this breach of the Regulations and have assured the SCB that all gate selections going forward will be decided as per the 2025 SCB Regulations.

Grow up SCB.

Some people take everything in life far too serious these days.

So they are still in operation, must have been on their summer hollybobs

It's a professional sport and needs to act accordingly

It may not be the most serious of breaches but once you start letting things slide it becomes thd thin end on the wedge

If Lidesy riding had prevented the tactical substitution, the Aces would have undoubtedly won the meeting. Therefore, my original point remains valid. Sometimes, debating a point that leads to the same conclusion is unproductive.

How?
Ifs buts and maybes

Lidsey has scored 5 and 10 v Ipswich this season

When he scored 5 Ellis King and Thompson all beat him …. There was no guarantee what Lidsey would do…. He may have had an engine failure in heat 12 turning a 3-3 into a 5-1 to Ipswich you don’t know

Simply Kurtz and Bewley had 6 rides which definitely helped

Reminds me of daft football fans who when the game is 1-1 see their team get a disallowed goal but then score another and win 2-1 and they say ‘if the goal wasn’t disallowed we would have won 3-1….. no you wouldn’t because the ball would have gone back to the centre circle and the game would have been played differently

No saying what Lidsey would / should have scored

You're the one who's debating it, with all your ifs.

As I have stated several times, we will never know that would have happened if Lidsey rode, so there's no point in predicting one way or the other.

I don't often feel I need to stand up for SCB, but, in this case I do.

If they don't implement the regulations they get rightly criticised, but when they do pull up a transgression they still get criticised.

Perhaps for next season we could have an asterisk beside regulations that are discretionary.

Team riding always shows great racing when theres no passing, a different type of skill sadly rare these days in comparison to what it used to be.

Did the Lemon say anything to Bewley and Kurtz before the Stupid Heat?  Bewley throttle-jockeying off into the distance was of no use to the Aces - if he at least tried to hold up Sayfutdinov, and maybe even let Sayfutdinov go so he could try help Kurtz ... as it was his huge margin of victory in the race was of no benefit at all, when he could have at least tried all-or-nothing.

The SCB was rightly criticised for implementing a regulation against Workington, because they never stated which regulation it was.

I e-mailed to ask, and never even had the courtesy of a reply.

God forbid that minor breaches of rules & regulations are allowed to slide - surely not in speedway?!

After rock, paper, scissors, what other childrens game do you suggest to decide gate picks ?

Hopscotch, tail on the donkey (or dirt deflector on the speedway bike), marbles....

Surely the SCB are being a bit tongue in cheek here, it's a random way to see who gets the choice, for goodness sake. I wonder if the coin has to have a minimum number of revolutions to be legal toss, or they could toss off if there's a dispute.....

Spot on …. Great rider that Bewley is he definitely messed up the superheat … surely his manager must have reminded him of the scoring system
