I believe the rain started some time between 6 and 6.30, so the turnstiles were already open.

Are you suggesting that once it started to rain heavily they should have close the gates and leave people standing in the rain ?

Everyone will have a readmission ticket which can either be used for the rearranged fixture or refunded so it's not as if the club have gained by opening the turnstiles.

The only winners last night are the stadium owners who would have gained rental income and sold food and drinks to the punters.

To be honest there needs to be a way that in the event of the meeting being postponed any travelling supporters are entitled to a refund. That way you may encourage additional supporters to a travel.

Yes you would still be out of pocket for the fuel & food etc but at least the admission fee would be coming back to you.

According to the website

Discussions will take place with Ipswich regarding a restaging date in due course.

Why not arrange the re-staging there and then, when all interested parties present?

14 riders who ride for multiple clubs in multiple countries, plus managers, plus mechanics, plus stadium availability- would suggest that would be more than a 2 minute chat unfortunately

But the conversation needs to take place sometime.

Quicker and easier than when they have all gone their separate ways.

Rider dictating when they want to ride or go home ,what’s new.!

It wont be racing ,will be the excuse.

Everyone when the track needs work done so late it means the riders want too go home, 9times out of 10 the meeting doesn’t go ahead.

100% as soon as the rain came in certain riders had it fixated into their minds that they weren't going to ride no matter how much track work took place.

Especially with it being a GP weekend as well.

Posted on the Sheffield website around 10pm last night :

If anyone has difficulty in attending the restaging date, supporters should e-mail re-admission ticket details and bank details to office@sheffield-speedway.com and refunds will be issued once it is confirmed and announced.

Maybe they are hanging fire till after next Thursday ? If Sheffield lose at Ipswich then this meeting won't influence who meets who in the playoffs, so it can be 'cancelled' and remove the need to delay the start of the playoffs.

If it's cancelled, would be unfair to season ticket holders, and anyone in attendance, as re-admission tickets only valid for re-staging.

In which case everyone gets a refund, and they allow season ticket holders free admission to the play off semi. Not difficult really.

If correct what I got told last night that Sheffield are already stating that they can only run Thursday nights during play offs then trying to restate this may be a meeting after the play offs are complete

And what if their qualification position dictates they get the Monday first leg? Or in the event of another rain off?

If they can't commit to run within the set guidelines then they should forfeit the place

I think they are trying to say that they have got to have the 2nd Leg more so for the Semi as they know that Leicester can run on a Monday easily although would get a lesser crowd as off night and 1st leg

You are missing the point

Ipswich , Leicester, Birmingham and Oxford hardly produce fast speedway

Lynn to a lesser extent is fast but Belle Vue and Sheffield are the fastest

Sheffield is narrower and according to your own riders has one line close to the fence

Its irrelevant about career ending crashes they can happen anywhere

My point is that as a rider would you rather race in tricky conditions at Sheffield or say Ipswich …… Sheffield would be much riskier in adverse conditions

You have an awful lot to say about the Sheffield track, also a lot to say about what track riders would prefer to ride, have you ever been to Owlerton?

Over the years there have been plenty of riders who stated they enjoyed riding at Sheffield, much less so Ipswich.

But hey ho, everyone seems to miss your point, I wonder why. It's clear you love the sound of your own keyboard, you could start an argument in an empty room.

Sheffield can run a Monday too, they have multiple times for TV meetings.

Thanks for posting that, what a ride, scary to watch even when you know the outcome.

I remember watching a meeting, individual, from Owlerton, it was a very wet track and I'm sure it was Andre Compton who was scraping the boards in a thrilling couple of rides, maybe you can name the meeting, some really exciting races. Always loved my trips over Woodhead on numerous Thursday evenings bitd.
