We attended Buxton on Sunday and I think it will be a while before we return, there was fallers in every race I think which I believe was more down to the track many times not the riders. The track was like concrete with dust and stones on the top on the bends so to the riders it must have felt like sliding on marbles. It was so hard that the tractor grading it was picking up next to nothing and kicking up just as much dust as the riders during the races. I know it was a hot day so why was the track not watered well before the meeting to get it to seep into the track? The truck / bowser was ineffective to say the least, and why did the referee allow the truck to fill up with water on the centre green while the racing was going on I thought all tractors etc had to be removed back to the pits during races? We stuck it out for the 15 heats and then left and while I know its National league racing it was far from a good advert for the sport.

The track was being watered when we arrived and had clearly been well watered before (probably the previous day as well). They watered every 4 heats, and were often doing a lap giving it a good top-up sprinkling after each 2 heats. The track was perfect, and the meeting was over in 2 hours despite a break when the medics had to tend to Luke Killeen. I know Buxton isn't Belle Vue's level, but with a Sunday/Monday Buxton/Belle Vue option again, I know which one I'd attend in future, and which I wouldn't rush back to.
glenantony
Any news about the line-up for the Derbyshire Open on Sunday? I am hoping to stop-by when returning from Manchester and I'd guess I wont be the only one.
secsy1
With The British U21 Final at Redcar on the same day surely the relevant authorities should have made this the only fixture available for maximum publicity and attendance on Sunday.

Common Sense.... Hence, it hasn't happened, (again)...

None of the 6 riders in the Buxton team (still no 7th rider) are under 21 (many not even close to 21) so if that's the standard they're aiming at, then it shouldn't have any conflict with a British Under-21 meeting containing all the youngsters. Because teans staging open meetings usually invite their own riders. You'd be a bit peed off if the club you rode for staged an open meeting and didn;t invite you! TheTopDrawer
Hearing that an ex-Hitman will be making a comeback in a Pairs event at Buxton on Sunday after several years "away". Will be interesting to see if all the supporters stay away on Sunday as many promised they would.

No point having a penal system if you cannot change...
RS50
Do we know if it is Garritty, or is it just speculation? Could it be someone like James Wright? Or is Charles Wright having a practice to see if he is fit. Edited June 19 by RS50
RS50
So, in less than 48 hours, Buxton are staging a meeting. I've looked on their Facebook page and website, and have no idea who is riding. I do not find that very encouraging to bother going. Surely a few words of information would be helpful and informative.
