Sadly, I won't be here for the diatribe tomorrow and the days after, and after that and...., but I'll catch up when I can.
Normski
Stayed at Shorefield Country Club this week {sounds posh} persuaded the wife to attend the Poole meeting with me on Wednesday night. Back in the day when we had southern tours, it was always a trip to Poole after Berwick had been at Weymouth the previous night. So my last visit to Poole was a 39-39 draw with Kings Lynn in 1980 when i was just a youngster. Arrived early on Wednesday as i reminded the wife, this is not Berwick where i can finish my pint at 6-50pm and flash my season ticket and walk straight in. Big queues already forming but we steadily moved further forward then shock horror we were in the cash only line, but i had bought tickets online looked at the queue for that line and well a few swear words under my breath lol. But a Poole fan then hearing our plight and we had came from Berwick let us into the queue so whoever you were sir a big thankyou. i have read the comments about the meeting not being the best you will ever see, with very little happening once riders came out the 2nd bend but the score kept it interesting till the end. But apart from that i found the meeting was run very slickly, excellent PA System ensured we did not miss any announcements or race results and the kingsize hotdog went down well. Met forum member @LisaColette as well. Meeting was done and dusted by around 9-15pm, so plenty time to get to station to get train back to New Milford. Just like to offer my congratulations following tonight's result at Glasgow on becoming 2025 Champions,

Then they covered the truck parade and trophy. Well done pilots gated when it mattered and the track slickened off so bomber struggled to pass. But a fantastic watch speedway was definitely the winner tonight Great meeting to attend, the fans tried there best to get the Tigers over the line but it was heartbreak in the ill named Superheat. Should 30 heats of league title Speedway really be decided like that ?. You will be lucky to see a better individual performance than that from Bomber tonight. His hunting down and outrageous passes had to be witnessed live to really appreciate the skill and courage involved. He tried his best to get them over the line but ultimately failed. Like you say the Pirates gated better in both of heats 15 and 16 and it did slicken off enough to preclude him repeating his heroics of heat 15. Don't think Kyle Howarth was the man for the Superheat following his performance in 15. His gating also hadn't been great throughout the meeting. The Pirates found enough to do it again, you can only admire them for that but it would have been nice to see the Tigers lift the trophy.
Robinh88
Well done Poole, the better team won imo. Glasgow gave it everything but Poole did what was required when it mattered. Racing was excellent and show cased the Sport in a great light.

First thing they did instead of celebrating the victorious team was a dour interview of Harris being disappointed. What about showing the victorious team? We interviewed Chris Harris because he won, by quite some way the public vote as rider of the night. This was after the trophy presentation and while the Poole riders were at the other side of the stadium being interviewed. The rest of the Poole rider interviews are on Facebook and have been viewed 9000 times so far. We also interviewed Richard Lawson and Zach Cook on the main show as soon as they took their helmets off after the super heat.
ragdoll64
Fantastic meeting. Congratulations to Poole. For me, Kerr won it for Poole by his pass on Thompson in heat 12 scrubbing the possibility of a Glasgow win without the need for a super heat. 1

Congrats to Poole and Lewis Kerr was your matchwinner. I would also have put Flint out in the Super Heat, buts that hindsight for you. Last night was my first at Ashfield in a few years and it reminded me why i love he sport. Gutted we lost but i came away just happy that I'd seen an awesome meeting. lbw
I would like to praise the Glasgow fans for being very welcoming and gracious in defeat. I sat in the grandstand and there wasn't any negative words spoken against their own riders or Poole's. Applause was there for all riders throughout the meeting and for the presentations. Many a Glasgow fan and official, even the referee, shook my hand in congratulations. The Glasgow set up take a bow. Congratulations Poole PIRATES ☠️ on winning the Championship League Title 🏆 2025 u've done us all proud. Gonna enjoy my celebration flat white ☕ 😀 C'mon the Boyzzz ☠️ 💪 yes yes yes! Harris cut back into turn one and was blocked by Howarth, a lap later Lawson slammed the door shut on Harris and then that was that. Probably 5 races giving it 110% zapped his energy and he didn’t have it in him to go till the flag in the super heat

topaz325
Congratulations to Poole , both teams rode really well in a great spectacle of speedway Packed stadium , good atmosphere and cut and thrust racing . I attended hoping Glasgow would pull the deficit back and gradually they did but that superheat was one race to far Many comets fans there with a few monarchs fans too. Also a really good fireworks display at the end Well done Glasgow speedway

Speedway has been rough to him at times so nice that he had that moment Incredible meeting last night had absolutely everything. And so great to be in amongst a huge crowd cheering the Tigers, probably the dream since the Facennas took over. Heat 15 in Dorset felt big at the time and so it proved....Just!

Lewis Kerr has really come good lately, I have been critical of him during the season and doubted if he had it in him but he has definitely come good when it mattered most. I think most would have put Flint in the superheat, it was obvious Howarth was not going to trouble the scorers after heat 15.

How could he possibly think he deserved a second chance.Flint had just given Zach a very hard time in heat 14 and Dan T had been good until passed by Kerr. I would have gone with Nagel in the superheat because up until his engine failure he had been flying. I also feel that Howarth couldn't handle the pressure in those last two heats and a younger more fearless head might have been the better option. In the end Harris had given his all and had no more to give so it's all a moot point now.

Leon has improved this year but still don't think he is a go to man (that will come) Dan probably the trapper to pick if we were going to swap. BSN captured an intense discussion before the GH with Dan, Kyle and Chris in the picture so wonder if that was suggested? Poole winning the gate choice for the golden heat was important as I would hope Glasgow had it in their plans to swap.
