I was gutted for Slot yesterday...

He should have popped his head around the United dressing room door before the game and asked Ruben to play a high line and to keep playing out from the keeper with plenty of short one touch passes so his team could intecept the ball and score loads of goals..

Instead, he had to try and find a way of winning a game where the opponents decided to do something tactically he didn't want them to...

Completely unfair...!!

I have only watched Maguire's winner about twenty five times today to see if I am entertained... ..

I can see United only getting just under 75000 for their next match now....

Are we still going on about the track? After 15 races at pooles track. And 16 races at Glasgows track, can we not agree that the team that won deserved to win?

Poole prepared their track to help them win. Glasgow prepared their track to try and help them win.

Excellent post mate that's what happened while it was gate and go at Poole and unless Glasgow riders have been in a cupboard they should have set their bikes up for that it's no secret is it

Local/regional media report on winners. They couldn't give a rat's backside if it was entertaining or not. If greater media coverage generates greater attendance, then those additional fans keep coming back, as Poole's attendances over the season have shown.

Nobody has answered my earlier question of how much media coverage Glasgow Tigers got after Friday? I'm interested to know having spent almost all of my working life in regional media and large venue management.

Speedway on regional TV in the North East, Cumberland and the Borders gets virtually no coverage and certainly no regular coverage. It is a real personal irritation.

You and me could name a few reasons.

The Faccenna’s could not do any more than they have done over the last few years.

Same could be said about the crowd at Leicester and Ipswich . I watched league meetings on TNT from Leicester during the season and I'd be surprised if there were 500 there. The playoffs and final probably helped financially save their season.

We were at Ashfield friday and have supported semi finals and finals also at Redcar, this is in addition to paying for a BSN Championship Play Off pass. The reasons we made the effort to attend instead of sitting in front of the tv include an awareness that more than ever speedway needs supporting, you do not get the atmosphere on tv and the prospect of exciting racing, which is more likely at both of these tracks especially as riders tend to give more in such circumstances.

This is still going on

Poole set up their track to win matches …. It’s boring it’s tedious and it’s not exactly speedway … they signed a team of primarily gaters and no real racers so they aren’t going to make the track for a racer 

The thing is as most speedway fans of a certain age know is that Poole fans only want to win … good ethos maybe … but if the Poole team had 7 racers and great home meetings then the fans would stay away if the team was only 4th or 5th … many times over the years Poole was close to closing especially in the 80’s when they weren’t winning …. Very very fickle fans 

Of course it’s nice to win the league but every Ipswich fan would still go to watch Doyle and Emil even if we wasn’t at the top … Poole fans are different always have been

Absolute bullrubbish! from the mid-eighties to 1999 Poole had one of the sports wealthiest owners in the late Mervyn Stewkesbury, together with an experienced back-up team including the old National League Administrators.

The Fords took over in 1999 and spent 20years in the Premiership (Elite) winning it several times over, much to the chagrin of some of the more established owners/promoters.  Of course crowds dropped a little when the team wasn't doing well - as is the case with ALL teams.

PS> There's nothing wrong with being at the top of any sport - as long as the club remains profitable.

Well it does look like Gavan got the desired reaction, he can't help himself slag off Poole at every opportunity.

Firstly congratulations to the Poole riders for winning the Championship. I've been intrigued over the season with many on here saying speedway's dying, there's no overtaking, only old folk go and every year there's less of them, promoters don't promote, etc, etc. Perhaps Poole fans can advise if their fan base is generally 40+ years old with few youngsters, or not. If it is could this be because kids find it boring for whatever reason which then doesn't bode well for the longer term future. On the other hand Glasgow has hundred of kids most weeks, normally when operating on a Friday night - see link Facebook Also with the kids wanting to go we have more fans in the 20-40 age group, so a potential longer term fan base who like to be entertained.

I watched fans stream out of Wimborne Road on BSN after the 1st leg , 2 things in particular were noticeable : hardly anyone was wearing Pirates merchandise and there was hardly any kids. The age demographic appeared to be mainly 50+. Whether that is representative I don't know.

Different in summer hols and also if Poole rode Friday or Saturday, more likely to have kids there imo.

Unbelievable you guys don’t put that absolute melt Gavan on block. The guys an absolute twonk and proves it time after time after time. He really does have a screw loose and proves it with every moronic post of his. I blocked him years ago and let him rant into the cyber void like the mentalist he shows us he is.
