I have to take my hat off to the guy for coming back from serious injury and giving it a go, Absolutely horrendous crash at Oxford, he opened the pit gates with the force he hit them. I seem to remember his mum came to the track a few weeks later to thank the medical staff for everything they had done, I think he died but they pulled him back. When he returned in his 1st ride he was understandably a bit tentative. Next race he went for it, full tilt. I'm not ashamed to say he's got bigger balls than me.

Try the lottery numbers at the weekend Apart from his u21 win at Ashfield Sam Hagon hasn't really made any progress, in fact he always underwhelms, especially around Ashfield. I really thought he'd have kicked on by now. Caveat that win with Dan Thompson crashing out of that meeting, and in the final Joe Thompson was unlucky that both Hagon and Harrison were on his back wheel right from the start. He did well to hang on to first as long as he did given he was riding defensively to block 2 riders. Had only 1 of the 2 been on his back wheel then I think Joe would have won. That being said, sometimes a change of scenery works wonders for a rider. And Hagon spent most of last year as a second string, but in that line up he's a reserve which could make a difference. Most British riders develop slightly later in their career so there is still time for Hagon to become a top rider. However in 2 visits to Ashfield with Berwick last year Hagon got 3 from 3 rides and 0 from 3 rides. I'm not sure those performances will convince Tigers to go for him

Personally he needed a season at reserve to build confidence but he was forced into the number 2 position before he was ready has happened to so many british youngsters.

Nickinho
1 Chris Harris 8.98 2 Jack Smith 2.91 3 Drew Kemp 7.88 4 Leon Flint 7.20 5 Kyle Howarth 7.91 6 Freddy Hodder 2.63 7 Max Perry 2.45 39.93 The two reserves have plenty of scope to kick on this season and be better than last season when Freddy seemed to run out of steam and Max had a nasty accident which he was tentatively coming back from as the season ended. Paul Smith would be a bit out of his depth at number 2 but he's always good for a few points around Ashfield and is passionate about his speedway. I’m not sure Smith belongs in the main body of any team next season. He really struggled at reserve for us this year. I think his head got the better of him. You could see the frustration when things didn’t go his way he then came out and tried too hard and over rode the bike. I honestly think he has the ability but the pressure got to him and I don’t think he’d manage in the main body especially at Glasgow. I understand but he wouldn't be in the main body for long, after six meetings he would be replaced by a more experienced Hodder at 2 if Hodder does indeed progress. Smith and Perry at 6 & 7 would be a good reserve paring imo. Edited Sunday at 05:31 PM by Nickinho

I wouldn't go for that long a tail, while Hodder & Perry have improved on last year, they still aren't a strong reserve pairing. I agree Paul Smith would be out of his depth 25 years after last riding 😆 and wouldn't expect Jack to score much at all in the top 5. Any 2 of the bottom 3 would be an acceptable reserve pairing, but I wouldn't want all 3 pushing one into the top 5.
therefused
Personally think Perry and hodder at reserve makes perfect sense. Wouldn’t have such a weak number 2 though, but if both stayed at reserve all year they could both really kick on
