Rushen signing has not been announced yet. Beau Bailey has signed a Danish contract, they ride on a Wednesday so doubt he would ride for us.

So much pressure is put on young riders by a lot of Poole fans on here, with the expectations of Bailey and Rushen. Not 16 yet and talking of Poole must have them, we are gonna win with these kids in our team.

Yes both talented young kids but let them progress at their own rate and enjoy the speedway without pressure or expectations.

Aside from various forumer opinions about Poole's rider signings and those that reckon Promoters don't 'promote' - the Fraser Bowes signing was featured in the local Echo (full back page with photo; plus sports page interview with Danny Ford, in print and online); BBC Radio Solent; BBC South Today (including racing footage); Meridian TV; Dorset Magazine; plus Tik Tok reels, Instagram, X and Facebook, as well as the traditional speedway media, plus undoubtedly some that I've not seen.

If a rider wants £200 a point, but a club will only pay him £180 a point. He can either find another club, or if there's no-one wanting him retire & get a "normal job". I'm sure every rider would want to be paid more & every promotion would want to pay less.

Yes we always get good coverage in the local press despite Bournemouth being in the premier league. What have the Comets got for  competition locally in the press?

The local press / TV is virtually non existent these days, it's all badly copied and pasted from other sources, very few old style journalists these days in the north. Carlisle United and various South of Scotland rugby teams get a mention, but not often speedway apart from press day and border TV did do a good coverage on the young kids memorial meeting 👍. We have 2 TV outlets, border TV as name suggests covers the border region and sometimes Cumbria. The other Look North based in Newcastle so covers all the north east and Cumbria if anything major happens. Even the 2 local rugby league teams get very little coverage

Oh so these are rugby union teams I expect and probably rugby league teams get mentioned but shame the coverage is not so  good, I am sure it would be an encouragement especially to those who used to go but dont anymore, I would think most in the area would have heard of Stoney.

One advantage of the smaller communities (in speedway terms, Workington, Berwick, King's Lynn and maybe Poole) where there is no big-league soccer in the towns to distract attention is that the speedway clubs -- who can boast "international stars" in virtually every meeting -- are usually the biggest sporting attraction in town.

Also, in these smaller communities, even if people don't attend, I believe the whole town knows about the Comets, Bandits, etc.    They know speedway exists there.

Whereas in the cities, in Glasgow or Edinburgh, if I mention speedway to people the usual reaction is "oh, is that still going?"

The downside being, there are less than 30,000 people living within 25 miles of either Workington or Berwick.   There are about two million within 25 miles of Glasgow!

Well Kings Lynn isnt far from Norwich or Ipswich or Peterborough which are all teams that are well supported but I get your point. I think Kings Lynn is quite well covered in the press though and of course they have the very well supported stock cars at the Norfolk Arena.

Problem is very few people buy/read local press these days, and the local one to worky is controlled by newsquest a national media outlet, so most things in our local rag is national stories and adverts, very little local news/sport

Newsquest own the Local Echo. I agree people don't necessarily buy the printed copy in huge numbers any more, but all these papers are online too! Links with all local/regional sports journos have to be continuously nurtured.

TV media need to be sent short reels of race action and tik tok rider interviews, not just as a one-off but every week.

What would his assessed average be? I know there used to be a rule where after a few years an average would decrease by a certain % every year. But this is speedway to that rule has likely changed

Well he did ride in the Blue Riband! I say ride rather than race. 5 rides:- R-2-0-1-0.

His gsa from 2022 was 8.62
