I suspect as well as doing it to keep the Prem ticking over he'd be looking to make a bit of money, and he wouldn't be running the show just as he doesn’t at Lynn. As far as I know the main bidder was a sponsor or a consortium of sponsors, but not Guy Nicholls. All quite hush-hush and I never found out whether it was an Ipswich sponsor, or more a sponsor of the sport in general. The second bidder I heard about had promoting experience, but wasn't Buster or Tolley, and was very much a secondary bidder to the one above. That is true, as long as I can remember, during the closed season, there were/are teams with a 'will they, won't they', hanging over their heads. But there were so many more teams then.
