You need to use such a highly scientific system like rider averages because it means that every season, every team, starts the season almost completely equal... Well. Apart obviously from those teams who get named on here, before a wheel is turned, as a shoe in for the play offs, or, alternatively, correclty named as spending the season as complete and utter cannon fodder... It works so well doesn't it?..
Hawk127
Grass track fixtures in this week’s Star for those in the Premiership suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Perhaps one of the grass venues could stage speedway, it might be quicker than Northampton.

It kills the motivation to develop young riders as if their average gets to high, you have to lose them for nothing or lose another top rider. It also doesn't really keep teams that fair either

If must be quite annoying for a rider to miss out on a team place by a few decimal points, knowing one of his team mates last year let him finish in front of him, which, ultimately put his average "too high"... Even more so if a "bonus point king" gets the place he could have had!!!

I think the only people that knew about it when I was at school was the people I forced to come along with me, most of whom never went again

Another example was helping out on a stall at an Xmas event in Workington couple of years ago, giving stickers etc away, man with family said he did not know a new facility had been built for speedway. And the comets lot are quite good trying to promote the sport.
Roger Jacobs
12 hours ago, Aries said: Today’s Speedway Star from Jenkins.. <SNIP> Edit: Unless the average used for Nicholls is his Premiership average of 5.55, and not his converted Championship average of 5.39? In which case would leave 4.44, with Jenkins on 4.49. Could also explain the rumoured no go for Thorssell even on 4.5 as he wouldn’t fit either.. I’m not sure that’s the case though. Pretty sure the average used would be a Championship converted average, and not an established Premiership one. The most current average is used and Scott’s Premiership average is from 2024. Jeppesen on the other hand, has a current 2025 average in both Premiership and Championship, so I’m guessing they’d use his current Premiership average? Which would mean he just about fits. If it’s his converted Championship average then he’s way over and wouldn’t fit either. 2025 Regs: 10.2.1 Established MA's "... At the end of each season the BSP LTD will produce a listing of all riders who have competed in British Speedway during that season and following approval and/or amendment at their AGM. The MA’s, excluding bonus points but including other allowances will be the riders MA for the following season. These MA’s will remain affective for team building, team positioning, facilities, until new MA’s become effective. The most recently established MA will be used. If a rider has an established MA in both the Premiership and Championship Leagues, established in the same season, that leagues MA will apply to that league. To be effective 7 days after the last qualifying meeting. Any rider returning to British Speedway on an established MA, achieved prior to 2023 will establish an updated MA after completing 6 applicable meetings. ..." The last paragraph implies that if a rider had an Established MA from 2023 or 2024, it would count. Assuming the 2026 Regs are updated by a year, then Established MAs from 2025 or 2024 would count ... thus Nicholls could be on his 2024 Prem MA ... NB: the grammar and speeling in the Regs is appalling.

TTT
Jeppesen if the No.6 will make a mockery of his starting GSA so should be in the main body after the first set of averages. Let's just hope that Scotty can at least fill his boots once he drops to reserve on every track against riders like Zischke, Kemp, Etheridge etc. Edited 2 hours ago by TTT
MP78
It's probably not this, but perhaps wishful thinking on my part... Wouldn't it be great if the continued delay is down to the new owners bringing in a big name at number 1 and having to jump through some hurdles (visa, etc) to make it happen before they can announce it... I'll now head of back to cuckoo land....
