If they want cheaper best to get rid of Jack.

But that deal was already done. Maybe the last rider is too I don’t know. You also have to look at value for money. Jack may be expensive, but they may feel he’s the one rider worth pushing the boat out for. If Pickering is after similar money (and I’m not saying he is), then maybe they feel that isn’t value for money as he’s not in that class of rider. Doyle was very expensive at Ipswich, someone mentioned earlier that Pickering was asking for similar to what Doyle was getting. None of us really know the finer points, but there plenty of people who claim Pickering is demanding big money so there’s probably an element of truth in that.

I’d be surprised if it’s not picko back at Sheffield tbh, etheridge isn’t exactly a huge trump card on a 3 point average and there’s a good few riders in the 6-7 point average range still unattached who would allow a stronger no.6

would seem a strange strategy to me run with a 3 point number 6 to just allow enough for picko to fit and then not use him - unless there’s a similar average rider available who would come a bit cheaper that they think can outperform him? But I can’t see who that would be?

Also wasn’t he quoted in the speedway star earlier this winter as saying Scunthorpe are aware that if it ends up being one big league he’d be pulling out and riding for Sheffield?

No he’s not quite on the level of Kurtz, Holder, Bewley Fricke but he isn’t far behind. He’s an exciting rider to watch and anyone prem team would have him

Any team would welcome him as a great all rounder. In the same bracket as Jaimon and Doyle who have similar home, away and overall averages.

Sheffields investors have now pulled out.

Worrying times for sheffield now

I guess that means there'll be another "for sale" sign going up at Owlerton at the end of season '26 (if not before).

Does anyone know why the investors pulled out ?

Given all the problems/loss of revenue/lack of teams with the top flight going into 2026, I would have imagined the only people interested would have to be massive fans of the sport who would shrug off losing 50-100k.

I don't think the Bates are short of a few quid I guess it just comes down how much there willing to loose on the club in 2026 compared to previous years.

Are TRU PLANT still involved with Sheffield or Ipswich sponsorship wise this coming season.

Sponsorship deal with Guy Nicholls ended last season.  Not heard of a new deal with him is in place so could be new main sponsors at Sheffield, AB Race Cruisers/AutoCraft?

Did the Bates' not say that their reasons for 'stepping away' originally were due to the pressure of other work issues, and that the Tigers were in a 'healthy financial position'?

That’s the team we all wanted. Fair play to Bates for sorting it we all owe him a big thanks
another year of speedway at Sheffield is good news and that team is as good as any.

Jack, Chris and Picko will be a great trio of headleaders again im hoping Chris can lift his form back to 2024 standard.

Leon and Anders in the main body of the team will have to find another gear again mainly away from home.

Jye and Killeen for me are good signings at this level and will stay at reserve. Killeen hopefully with the right people around him will find his feet in the premiership

If Tai is not riding in the UK, I would expect him to advising Luke at Sheffield.

Very interesting side that's either Boom or Bust imo.

Everything hinders on Leon and Anders improving on the road.

If they do improve on the road then Sheffield are the Team to beat imo, But if they don't improve on the road then it's basically a side that'll do nothing outside of Owlerton.

Sheffield are the Team to keep a close eye on for sure.

That's the identical team (with one minor difference) that finished on top of the heap last season and I can't see any reason why they shouldn't do it again.
