Don’t buy the players on holiday excuse seven days after the final fixture so we’ll agree to disagree there. They claim to be supportive of the Speedway in the town, but have just sh!t on it from a great height. The football is a multi million pound business that will survive regardless, the Bank Holiday fixture for the Speedway can be the difference between breaking even, or making a business loss at the end of the season. Anyway no point going over and over it the decision has been made and it’s done. Pick your event Cookie! Would be a no brainer for me a live actual match over a bus parade every time. I will be streaming this as am not in the area - hopefully my first gone witches fixture will be 14th may!

ipswichwitches Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM I'm sure there used to be curfew for afternoon meetings, somewhere around 5:15 if my old memory is still working right. Delaying the start time could cause an issue with this if there are delays during the meeting

Aries Posted yesterday at 05:01 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:01 PM Bit ironic that Lynn seemed to have the weakest tail end (despite their reserves having obvious talent) and Ipswich one of the strongest due to how each team were built. But on current form, you’d have to say Lynn actually look stronger at reserve for this meeting! Rushen has been in good form and Scott has been improving in recent weeks, racking up an impressive 11 yesterday at Worky. The two Ipswich boys in the same fixture, racked up four points between them! Jenkins has started the season poorly.
Aries
Want to see a much better home performance from Brennan today. 6, and 5 in the two home meetings so far nowhere near good enough.

This will undoubtedly hit attendance figures at Foxhall and will also make travelling difficult for certain people depending where you’re travelling from. It’s a shame for Mayfield as they’d have been hoping for a bumper Bank Holiday pay day so it’s pretty poor from the Council. Why couldn’t they have arranged this for next Sunday? There’ll be an awful lot of people who would have liked to have attended both. I would be very surprised if Mayfield haven’t been slightly involved in conversations regarding this, they are a very professional outfit and have already confirmed they are in communication with the football club. Last time out in 2024, the speedway meeting was the same time 14:15, however the parade started later at just gone 12:00 from Portman rd and finished at 13:45 which gave a lot less time to get to Foxhall. This time around it starts at Portman rd at 11:30 and is set to climax at the latest 13:00 Edited 15 hours ago by ShanoXtra .

He was excellent in the win away at Lynn also, but then very poor at Northampton as well as the two home fixtures. He’s incredibly inconsistent and frustratingly, he’s inconsistent during meetings not just meeting to meeting. He can have a couple of fantastic rides where you think he’s on it, then can run a couple of lasts of third places and look all at sea. Hawkins was singing his praises last year and tipping him to go to the very top and challenge Bewley and Lambert as top Brit in seasons to come, but the lad turns 25 this year so he needs to start getting a move on pronto. He’s not old no, but he isn’t some emerging 19/20 year old either he’s been around a while now and he needs to sort out the inconsistency in his riding. He looks miles off GP standard at the moment.

Jason Edwards - 5 (4) Total - 44 King’s Lynn Stars 1. Max Fricke - 13 (5) 2. Paco Castagna - 5 (4) 3. Chris Harris - 9 (5) 4. Ben Cook - 5 (4) 5. Jan Kvech - 7 (4) 6. Cooper Rushen - 5 (5) 7. Jody Scott - 2 (3) Total - 46 Would be very surprised at that on current form. He’s prone to having a stinker now and then and maybe that could be today so it’s not impossible, but I’d be very surprised if he only has four rides and doesn’t make heat 15 on his current form. We’re going to need another double figure score from him today. He’s currently the most important rider in the team at the moment and the one we’re hanging our hat on. He’s been instrumental in us winning all but one of our fixtures to date. If he has a stinker, then we’ll probably lose.

It does highlight the stark reality of Speedways finances when the flipside is that it could mean a reduction in the crowd at Foxhall that is the difference between a break even season and a large loss The usual 1500 would traditionally be raised to 5000 on a good weather bank holiday If that is down to 3000 then the 2000 difference costs the Witches in the region of £40k Peanuts in relation to the football club - a weeks wages for just one player but vital to the Speedway club!

Sorry but there’s more important things for the council to spend money than on a parade for coming second. It’s not as if the council will get any of the £150 million, that is going to the football club and them only. I’m not taking anything away from them getting promoted but it doesn’t warrant a parade Edited 13 hours ago by Bash
