Vince
Well I've been around the flat track scene in the UK for a fair few years and clearly still know sod all! Very impressive result by Ashton Boughen, I honestly didn't believe it was possible to get to that level so quickly coming from Speedway. If you watch his races you would see anything but a mental block . Good luck to the lad if he's found a type of bike racing that suits him, meself and Dean Machine and a few others were only saying what we'd witnessed last season when he jacked in speedway, no one was doubting the lads talent on a bike, hopefully if he continues to do well and excel in Flat Track racing he may well be tempted back into speedway at some point.

Absolutely agree but this backing off on a speedway track went back more than last season. I really hope he's found his place because he's a natural on a bike and I wish him all the best.
Fan1980
British motocross champion, British super cross champion, world no 8 motocross, European mx champion, speedway 500cc champion, representing team GB speedway in Poland 15 points. now goes flat track for factory signing deal with Ducati. He tried flattrack just over a month ago and has only done two practice days on flattrack ever! Two practice days, One Italian championship for his 3rd outing finishing 2nd and his 4th day riding flat track he goes to the world championships in Roden and wins it. Maybe if we didn’t have so many idiots in this country who knock the youngsters on there bad days they wouldn’t disappear 🫠

What about the 15 point maximum at Redcar? 13 points Glasgow? It’s people like YOU that completely ruins our sport for the young guns. He’s beat Jason Doyle while Jason was leading the GP if I remember rightly!? Chris holder, bomber, majic , Lawson and plenty more!!! he was 16/17 with no previous experience in speedway but still people like you didn’t give him a proper chance other than pick on his bad days and kept quite on his good! I really hope he doesn’t return to speedway as I’ve followed him from a young age and the talent he has on two wheels is outstanding. Speedway is 50% bike set up and 50% rider ability and with his lack of experience I am sure his bike was set up incorrectly a lot of the time. He was one of the best mx riders in the world for his age where his talent on a bike was shown by his ability. He can now do the same with flattrack as it’s not the bike set up that wins races it’s the rider riding it. 4
mikebv
He is clearly a very talented motorcyclist ... Given the way he "backed off" when surrounded by other riders when riding Speedway, maybe having brakes on a bike gives him the confidence to keep riding "full on", knowing he can stop the bike whenever he needs to... Even towards the end of his Speedway time he could still get out of the start and win races comfortably, showing that on an open track he could ride full on and fast... Hopefully he can still return to the sport and overcome his obvious challenges, as he certainly is more than fast enough to be a decent level rider... He was never the same rider in the playoffs after that. He was in a bit of a purple patch at the time, big score at Glasgow, top scored for the opposition in Richard Lawson’s testimonial and only dropped 1 point in two legs against Redcar in the KO cup. Got injured for Team GB against the USA at the start of the 2025 season and then it all went wrong at Kings Lynn and Glasgow as he looked shot of confidence.

I'd say the lack of opportunities, this year more than ever thanks to the BSPL, for young Speedway riders is doing more than me to ruin "our" sport! I want nothing more than to hand over £25 at as many Speedway meetings as possible... apologies for that. I grant you I've been let down by my statistics taken from another website so apologies for that, my bad and not intentional. But the fact remains, his bad days far outweighed his good days and his bottle had gone, that's okay, it happens and if and when it does speeding into a bend on a Speedway track alongside 3 other riders on a 500cc machine with no brakes is not the place to be, no shame in that, you move on to something you are comfortable with, which he has done and good luck to him.
