It may not have needed to be rushed through or only get to heat 10, if the rain did not start until 8.30, the rain at that point may have only been enough to damp the dust down, in my experience the Kings Lynn track has always been able to take a bit of water. My experience is the opposite due to the high clay content of the shale. The bottom line is that it wouldn't have been a satisfactory evening and the VFM would likely have been poor whichever way you slice it, and not many would have been there due to the forecast.
