YeOldPitGate
I used to follow speedway from 1984 -1993 (ish) the sport was struggling then but had a shot in the arm when Sky came on board and I got interested again watching it on Sky Sports but was never tempted back to trackside. I'm not sure how many are left rattling around this forum now maybe 20-40 of us I can't remember when I joined possibly couple of years ago but has it always been a very small number of posters or were there hundreds here in the past ? Andrew
From 2001 to the mid 2010's it was very well used, most teams had fans posting. It started to fall off when the likes of Reading,Eastbourne and Coventry especially closed along with all the other tracks lost to the sport. There was quite a few Sheffield fans (Forum owner Phil included ! ) who would post daily, now hardly anyone bothers as the Tigers- Leicester meeting thread proved! Daniel Smith
Back in the good ol' days of the forum there were regularly 2000 live online. During GPs, World Cup, British Finals etc, 3-4000 could be online. Even today, there’s been around 740 online, which is not bad considering the current state of British Speedway. False dawn
I joined in 2003. It was bunch of serious fans that debated issues with respect. We didn't always agree, but we developed our point of view without attacking the poster. I gained a lot of new friends back then, all over the UK and in OZ. We met at the British Final and Cardiff and some of them are friends to this day. I raced in Oz, twice, and met many forum friends there who I hold dear to this day. I've always been pleased to share views with other long standing fans and to learn from their experience. Not to mention having a good laugh along the way. This is a happy place for me (on the whole) and long may it be so. Thank you Phil for your foresight and inspiration, not to mention your continued support for this long standing home for British speedway debate.
Youhave2minutes
Attacking posters and not the subject will only see a further decline.
