Lawson is great at working the system  last week he was injured for 1day this week taken ill but I'm sure he will be feeling better in a day or 2. The other one he's used was he was waiting for a new passport to arrive 😂for a polish fixture i believe it's quite amusing really and sums up the state of British speedway that he gets away with it.

Imagine if the sport was ran properly, with independent leadership in place..?

All this nonsense simply wouldn't be allowed to take place and damage it....

Which is exactly why we will never have independent leadership, as everyone is happy to be complicit in making things up as and when they need to..

Trouble is his clubs let him get away with all this nonsense.

Don't disagree but hobsons choice when you don't have any competitors? Once again the sport has failed its customers.

Unfortunately no Poole fixtures this week, so if/when Mr Lawson gets a 7 day ban he won't miss a fixture.

He will miss Ipswich Thursday.

A simple way to fix this would be. If you miss due to illness you miss your next fixture for your clubs.

Falling ill on the day is too open to abuse though isn’t it, you could use it to bring track specialists guests in. If someone is genuinely ill on the day of the meeting and gets a doctor’s note then it’s indisputable as you have an independent sign off so in that case you get a guest?  If you pull out a couple of hours before the meeting en route without a doctor’s note then it could be abused.

Not saying that’s what’s happened here as I don’t know the facts or what’s wrong with Rich but that’s just my interpretation of how the rules work.

The 7 day suspension should stop that happening though?

Mind you with fewer fixtures these days, riders probably won't miss much.

What I don't get about the guest rules, lets say I suggest you shouldn't get a facility if a rider misses a match to race abroad, the response is normally "that will lower the crowd / it's not fair on the fans / it's not fair on the team" - but in an instance like this when no facility is allowed, all those reasons don't matter?

Richard let the Ipswich management know he was running late and that he would miss the track walk and asked another mechanic to fit a tyre for him as would be there for the parade but then at 6:25 rang back said he was feeling ill and had turned around to head home.

They advised him to continue to the track and just get there when he could so the medic could sign him out the meeting officially I assume they could then use IRR but he wouldn’t do that so then frantic phone calls were made to get Freddy Hodder to ride who did a decent job and looked on the pace .

I have it on good authority that Richard Coleman was not at all impressed with Lawsons attitude so will be interesting to see if any action is taken against him.

Not really sure what all the hysterics here are about.

Riders do get ill, like the rest of us.  I have no idea what Lawson's illness was, or the severity of it, but it's quite possible to be ill.

Ipswich could have used a guest facility.  All they need to do is produce a doctors' note within 24 hours of the meeting taking place.  (But this would have resulted in Lawson being suspended for 7 days for a non-speedway illness).

With it all being at such short notice it looks like it was impossible to get a guest, and the only cover they could find was Freddy Hodder (who lives 10 minutes from the Leicester track).

So it made sense to not use a facility for Lawson, and use the only option available (Hodder) who fits well within the "no facility" criteria.  (up to 75% of Lawson's average).  That way with Ipswich not using a facility, Lawson isn't suspended.

For a professional sportsman, phoning to say you are running late isn't a good look in the first place.

But if he's well enough to drive home, he should be well enough to make it to the track to see a doctor right?

Be far quicker than using the NHS to get a sickline.

Won't he be banned as deemed to be withholding his services for not turning up, as he had no sicknote?

Probably delayed due to cleaning his bike and race suit 🤔

010.5 Facilities

h) sick or carrying a non-speedway injury.

The rider must immediately inform the SCB and their club. A Medical Certificate must be supplied to the SCB within 48 hours of the sickness/injury occurring in which case the rider will receive a mandatory 7 day suspension of his SCB Registration from the day of the first meeting missed.

Good to see the riders intro at the start line last night and a couple of practise laps far better than the 1 lap intro. Just need some lights fitting above the start line before the dark nights return and I will be a happy..lol ;)

Credit to Drew last night thought well worth the rider of the night, For Ippo Musielak was awesome  proper racer from memory rode decent last year when Brum was in town, Must say get no joy and a little sad to see Nichols struggling, been such a great servant to this sport over the years and gave many of us so much pleasure in his career maybe the championship is now his level in his final year. All good things come to an end and all that.

I've attended 4 or 5 British meetings since my club closed in 2018. Lawson has been in all of those meetings and every meeting he has turned up late and a few minutes before the start or just after. Sounds like he doesn't do Press and Practice days either. No idea why the clubs allow this sort of behaviour.
