Why don't people put their names to these statements? and why do you even need a petition, speak to spedeworth and pay the man all the money up front like he's (rightly) insisting on and your in business.

The petition will get people from all over the country/ Europe or Australia signing it, but I think the original intention was to see who would regularly attend. So may have many thousands of signatures but only hundreds may turn up. So could be a pointless exercise

Agree Neil,you could have 50,000 signatures.no money no speedway, or just 10 signatures but pay the man tomorrow and you got speedway

Really don't want to be negative as i really hope the venture succeeds however a big question hangs over what level of racing the new consortium are planning? 

NL is far from in a healthy place, few teams spread out across the country.

CL is bloated as it stands with heat leaders hard to find and favoured race nights restricted

PL requires a hefty budget to even be remotely competitive and with potential attendance figures unknown.....

Ive attended plenty of very enjoyable and entertaining matches at Arlington over the years and really hope to see some more its just a little hard to get excited when success stories are so few and far between.

Whoever takes it on is going to have to have deep pockets, but that applies to almost any Track with the probable exception of Poole and Ipswich that attract the biggest crowds and biggest sponsors.

Bob Dugard told me one year he put in 100k when the Eagles were in Elite League and didn't Bob Crimson go through 180k? Long time since Eastbourne had a crowd which paid the bills on a regular basis.

As a generic indicator it might be ok but it's an odd medium to pick to gauge it. Without some indication of intended league and race night it's going to be pretty meaningless.

Must admit, I was thinking the same thing.  Who exactly is being petitioned here?

There's no government department blocking a return of the sport.   There's no council who needs to be pushed to grant additional planning permission.

All that is needed is a promoter to come along and pay the rent money to Spedeworth, and away we go.

OK it may not be easy to find  rich promoter willing to put up the rent money and operational costs, but we're certaiinly not going to be able to petition the government to pay the rent for us!
