looking like the champ are building to 40 points, coleman wants a bigger gap between leagues so i very much doubt it will be 37 points for 6 riders, i really hope its 42 for 6 riders

While I completely agree that there should be a wider gap I worry if all clubs will be able to afford to build teams up to very high averages. Could lead to a very uncompetitive league?

He does, but looks like nobody has listened to him shock horror. If anything, it looks like the leagues have got CLOSER 🙄

agreed its ridiculous that the championship has got even stronger by the looks of it, yet certain teams are scared to step up for some absurd reason. It also leads to bigger mismatches between the championships number 1 & 5 and the 6 & 7s.

Most of the prospective teams being cited on here look hardly any different to last season's starting seven - and they won't, not with the same points limit.  All you can hope for is that most riders live up to their average and one or two increase theirs.

Absolutely.  The Championship is too strong in terms of top riders.  None of those riders at Number 1 and 5 should be able to ride if they're already Premiership heatleaders.  Turkeys and Christmas though.

If the limit is 37 for 6 on average each team will increase by 2 points ish even with no real improvement from anyone

Utter madness continues

To start the ratchet of improvement it needs to be at least 40 for the top 6

Id have been tempted to set the championship at 36 personally.

Yes but the Champioship won't vote for that as they want their cake and to eat it

Less doubling up and/or a change in the multiplier is required

There was a plan to move it gradually from 1.5 to 2 but as with so many positive proposals it was soon dropped

It should be a high Points Limit because the CHAMP shouldn't be close to PREM standard like Coleman is saying.

Problem is, Northampton's 1-7 very much sounds like -> Musielak, Morris, Lidsey, Thomson, Iversen, McDiarmid and a Rising Star which comes to just under 37.00.

I do think the limit will be 37.00 as these examples look very realistic to me....The Points Limit should be higher though imo.

Also if Eastbourne are running in the PREM then that's another 1-7 that needs putting together which makes me believe that the Points Limit will be on the low side as we don't have enough top end riders to share around.

Low points limit at least leaves Eastbourne with potential options like Z. Cook, Nilsson, Lawson etc.

BELLE VUE = 36.87

Kurtz, 4.00 Newcomer, B. Cook, Zischke, Bewley, Cairns + Rising Star

IPSWICH = 36.97

Doyle, Kemp, King, Brennan, Woryna, Cairns? + Rising Star

NORTHAMPTON = 36.83

Musielak, Morris, Lidsey, Thomson, Iversen, McDiarmid + Rising Star

If no extra riders want to come over and ride...

And some from last season might decide to miss the UK..

You could end up with a lower level of rider in the top tier!!

Charles Wright would get a top tier spot next season surely?..

Can't think of too many more of a sufficient level to move into the top tier from the second..

From a proposed team I was told (not Ipswich by the way) that was built to 40 points for the 6 riders with R/S not included. To have some new riders over in UK who would come in on assessed 7.50- 8 point averages 40 needs to be the minimum to increase the gap between both leagues

I do hope so but then the proposed Northampton septet would be almost 2.50 Points under the limit even if you replace Iversen with an 8.00 Newcomer.

2 Confirmed starters and ITK's are certain on Musielak, Lidsey and Morris which only = 29.72

Based off the Northampton snippets and confirmed signings the limit looks like being 37.00 or 38.00 top whack because they could replace Iversen with Pickering (8.27) or an 8.00 Newcomer taking the team total to 37.99 or 37.72.

If the 40 point Championship level is true, then maybe its been done to get more "mid level" overseas riders to come over??.

If they double up, (solving a top tier rider issue), they would ride around 70 meetings a year, if they did the UK, Poland and one other league of Sweden or Denmark..

Doing Poland, Sweden and Denmark would only deliver around 40 something meetings..

The top level riders may be able to pick and choose how often they ride, but maybe enough lower level riders still exist who are happy to earn as much as they can by riding as much as they can??

The telling factor when it comes to the points limit is the bidding war for Cairns.

Logic would state that every top end Club is after the same rider because of a low points limit that would see them end up with an out of depth No.6 if they missed out on Cairns.

If the limit was 40.00 for example then Cairns wouldn't be as important as teams could run with a 5.00 Newcomer at reserve for example.

Assessed averages often just make a team look competitive on paper..

Everyone knows the reality will be very much different...
