Really hope not. The top heavy/weak reserves rarely works. Not sure of the exact figures but believe the top four burn 30 and change so even two 4.00s and a 2.00 will be too much.

I guess Flint Harris Thompson Rowe was all too good to turn down, but that’s no good if you have 2 reserves who won’t score points, obviously Poole have gotten away with Having Cairns then Rushen on a 2 to start the season, but with young Southwick already at Redcarr, is there another 2 pointer who’s almost guaranteed to hold their ave if not up it?

If it's who I think it is, no.

If there are a few NDL riders getting thrown in at the deep end then it will be easier to get near that. It all depends if they sink or swim, and how quickly they progress (or if they progress). I expect our senior reserve to be on 5 rides a meeting from the start.

The expected Tigers team is set up that the top end is expected (needs) to carry a 2 point reserve that will likely struggle to average 2 points. It's a trade off that Tigers seen willing to make. Basically any points contributed by our 2 pointer will almost be considered a bonus, especially against the strength on depth teams

The good thing is, that anyone in the team has access to practice at home as often as they need, especially for new riders, last season our riders were offered the same, I believe that Mario declined the use of practice but the others did use it.

Flint 8.24

Grmek 3.56

Thompson 7.54

Rowe 6.38

Harris 7.92

(3.06)

Hodder 3.30

36.94

leaves 3.06

Feel if Glasgow down the 4.00 assessed route that leaves 2.36 spare, feel that looks the stronger route, rather than Hodder and a 3.00 rider.

Find Riding Gear

I would rather take a chance on a new 4.00 and a new 2.00 (unless Max Perry has unretired) than Grmek. Grmek had a lower average than Mario Hausl (and no one seems to want him back) and he spent more time at reserve than Hausl

Flint is 8.25, Thompson is 7.55, Rowe is 6.39, Hodder is 3.31 and Harris is 7.93. Plus Grmek who is 3.56.

Leaves 3.01. Annoyingly Jack Smith is 3.04 which would've rounded the team off nicely.

Everyone knows the points limit is 40, that was agreed last year and would run for 3 years so, My TEAM for 2027

HARRIS 7.92

THOMPSON 7.54

ROWE 6.38

FLINT 8.24

TOTAL   30.08

Add in a 4 pointer = 34.08  (e.g. SLATER LIGHTCAP  is available on on 4 point average, as he hasnt had 6 league matches                                                          with Poole,if Poole let him go)

NDL Rider 2 pointer   =  36.08(e.g VALE,TRIGGER,NORMAN)

Leaves 3.92   =  (e,g, SMITH 3.04.FREDRIKSEN 3.48 ,RITCHINGS 3.16, GRMEK 3.56, FOORD 3.24)

Of those 5 , I would take FOORD or SMITH

Dont think HODDER will be there, Tigers management usually get rid of a reserve if he hasnt got out of the reserve berth

or improved much after 2 - 3 years. ( e.g. ACE PIPJER, CONNOR BAILEY)

Irritates the life out of me the Grmek is available on 3.56. The fact that assessed foreign riders can drop under their assessment figure ridiculous and detrimental to British riders.

That said why are so many Brits failing to make any real impression in the CL? Foord and Hodder lack some technical basics and blow hot and cold, Perry always gets mentions but rarely delivers. Hagon and Smith have all the backing but miss something to progress.

I question the 2.00 lower limit encourages riders to be signed but with a green light for failure rather than be aspirational it has an approach of anything scored is a bonus.

The Championship being too strong is part of the problem, makes the jump too big for a lot of riders.

agreed, should never be able to drop below at least a four. i also think there should be two british riders at reserve at the start of each season.

In an ideal world yes but if they are of the required standard, there have been similar issues in the past where the inclusion of riders to fulfil a criteria e.g under X age / average have led to places given to those clearly not ready for the step up and because of that many decent emerging talents have been lost to the sport.
