When it comes to those crunch moments in big matches, a genuine No1 makes a huge huge difference. But Leicester finished higher than Lynn who signed Fricke. With Fricke, Leicester would've had to be weaker elsewhere.

It’s surprising really that anybody watches speedway anymore with genuine love for their team. Nowadays it’s just for everyone to watch the sport. Coleman is right, tribalism of cheering on your team is completely dead in this sport and exactly why speedway won’t get new supporters through the door. First time in 4 years I couldn’t be bothered to watch the play offs. Good meeting or not it’s just beyond a joke. Rules need to change next year with a lot of other bits too. I’m an Ipswich fan but to be honest even if we build an awesome team what’s the point when other teams can’t follow suit and have good and fair competition. Surely everybody wants to win a competitive league and not this current state of affairs. Saying that, good luck Sheffield and Belle Vue and I hope you make some brilliant racing in the final! Did you make the same complaint about guests in 2023 when Bomber rode for you in the semi final ? Or was it only wrong when he then rode against you in the final ? speedwaysliders
As a neutral Ryan Douglass is riding so well at the moment is their any way with speedway being open to rule breakes that he =could maybe come in as guest for flu victim Rowe if he chucks a sick note at the right time!!!! PhilTheAce
Masters cost lions in heat 14. He should be winning that. Great watch for the neutral though. Going to be some final

I’ve always stated guests are a joke FOR and AGAINST my club. I want to win a trophy with my team, not a bunch of guests who have nothing to do with why we got to the final.

TTT
Glad Sheffield won the Super Heat tbh. I'm not having a dig as Leicester done very well on the night just to fight back so kudos to them for that. From a fan perspective the Lions are just as bad as the Witches around the NSS so it wouldn't have been much of a spectacle if the Lions did come through the Super Heat.

But you also said "Leicester are better without Fricke are they?" Obviously I agree it's better to have a top rider for the big heats, but it's not as simple as that, otherwise Lynn would be in the play-offs. Fricke riding for Leicester may have won heats 13 & 15, but a weaker rider elsewhere could have scored less, countering Fricke's contribution. If Howarth didn't retire or Masters didn't lose form, Leicester still would've made it. I don't think k you can just pick up on not choosing Fricke being the sole "difference".
Wollyhat
As a Sheffield supporter I went last night. Thankfully my pacemaker kept going through the super heat, but as a spectical the meeting was nothing to write home about. True Leicester made a brilliant fight back but the track was poor. No dirt, no water and a blue line by heat 4. We could have had the meeting in the supermarket car park then I wouldn't have come home covered in the red fog that made viewing hard at times. Just on another note anyone have any idea why Steady called the ref to the pits at about heat 12. I'm sure that it will have made good television as no doubt the comentaters will have been beside themselves. That;s not me having a pop at BSN they do a great job. InTheDeepStuff
Good to watch on BSN right down to the wire and beyond, any excuse not to visit that awful Leicester track though. Douglas and Morris obviously unable to team ride together (never really seen Douglas do with anyone tbh) as that was the only option in the superheat once Fricke hit the front, standard one in one out and Pickering would have had zero chance on that ultra slick track. Fantastic effort by the Leicester team though to drag back 24 points to be level (don’t think they ever went ahead but could be wrong) imagine there’ll be thinking what if for the odd point in race they consider dropped like Masters in ht14. Majority of Sheffield team were pretty woeful bar Fricke who was excellent both legs, Holder consistent in his 3 rides and Flint for his final 2 rides, the rest need to have a good look at themselves and I’ll include Pickering in that batch of riders getting 5 from 5. If Pickering, Rowe and reserves had stepped up then no need for the super heat, drastic improvement needed for the Belle Vue matches

It's a pity that the norm at most (all) clubs is to leave the paying public at the circuit completely in the dark. For the record, my understanding is that there is a rule that if a tyre becomes unsafe, a rider may replace it with a spare but only one that has a similar level of wear but that is still safe to use. Obviously, the "similar level of wear" bit is open to interpretation and can lead to accusations of cheating. Steady, last night, was obviously trying to make sure that one or more Leicester riders weren't getting an unfair advantage by switching tyres. From what I observed there was no great argument but there was obviously a lot on the line.

The Cheese
I know not everyone agrees with the play-off system but when you get drama like that there's nothing better. You see riders like Joe Thompson who suddenly have the meeting of their career and nearly become the hero, Leon Flint had a poor night until effectively saving Sheffield in heat 14 when a Leicester heat advantage looked nailed on. And that's before you get to the final two races. Hoping we get something similar in the final!
