THE BIG ONE! KO CUP FINAL (BANDITS v GLADIATORS) Saturday 26th, 7pm

Recommended Posts

I think the fact Berwick have a 100 percent record at home proves fans will turn up to watch a winning side at home. Throw in a cup final after knocking out the league champions elect as well and its no wonder the crowd was big.

Fans dont care about the racing on the whole , they want to see their team win.

Exeter were proof of this, great spectacle of a track with you being so close to the action but mainly gate and go, heavy home wins every week and they had good crowds right up until they shut despite usually being rubbish away from home.

Morris will be one of the signings of the season next year I am sure, he has been flying the second half of the season.

And in the days before the internet and streaming you never saw your team race away unless you actually went, home wins were the key as only a very tiny percentage of fans went to away matches unless it was a local derby.

Winning at home will always be important to maintain crowds, Exeter was always about winning at home by as much as they can and hoping it would be enough to seal the bonus point which it often was.

Certainly under a play off format, winning all your home matches and collecting all the bonus points should see you qualify.

As a neutral I don’t give two tosses who wins the cup. I wanted an 8-10 point Berwick win to set it up nicely for the second leg. The fact that the meeting was poor entertainment with a drag race to the first bend made for finger in the fast forward button. For neutrals it doesn’t float our boats.

As for the crowd it was good to see a decent crowd at Berwick. Must have been a thousand there at least.

Could you ask Poole why they scored 57 points against Edinburgh?

I would have liked a 8-10 point lead for Poole to make the second leg more interesting.

Specsavers for you there was at least 400/500 on the back strait/3rd bend alone. It wasn’t poor entertainment if you were there with the atmosphere(just like Poole).

I said, “as a neutral”. Fans of Berwick would have been thrilled to have such a big lead to make the second leg redundant.

So Danny king can score 7 points so far against the best team in the country riding and beating berwicks no 1, but scores 4 against a championship team I’m finding that a head scratcher

Totally different circumstances, you should know that.He might beat him at Plymouth though again totally different circumstances.👍

I see Plymouth have got the begging bowl out stating if they dont raise 46k for a new air fence they wont be open next season!

Have promotions over the years that making such threats does no good? Anyone with half a brain cell isn't going to invest in a new fence for a club that isn't financially able to afford it themselves.

I doubt there are any clubs in the championship bar possibly one that could "afford it themselves" from normal revenue

These capital items are either paid by the owners if they are able to or by methods such as Plymouth are suggesting if they can't or won't

Otherwise there's no Plymouth

Threatening closure because they cant afford an air fence is pathetic. If you were a potential investor into the air fence and you read the press release they put out, you would stay well clear.

Another prime example of why speedway isn't classed as a professional sport in the Uk by most.

So if you are a club owner but can't afford to meet large scale capital expenditure then you would prevent them from obtaining investment and/or donations from the fan base?

That may well mean the end of Plymouth or any club that would find themselves on a similar position.

With a small number of active tracks that's a very big call especially as no club could probably meet these type of expenses from normal income/expenditure and would be relying on their owners to fund

100 percent. Its like a chippy threatening to not do a job unless the customer buys them a set of power tools.

The best of luck to Plymouth, but why wait til the last meeting to make an appeal? Surely this should have been an all season effort....
