The supposed doing away with the NDL ( 😢 ) and then place what’s left in a championship that can be decided by a referees announcement it seems 🤷♂️. They have been talking for the last few months and the alledgally new polish rules have been around several weeks, all this should have previously discussed, and last season signed off, and any new rules put in place for 2027. It's not rocket science
Aries Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM Again why do they treat the fans with such contempt? The lack of communication is shocking. The AGM is actually important and newsworthy to supporters. Pretty sure we all look forward to hearing the fallout from the meeting, seeing what the points limits are and the make up of the leagues and rules. We rely on second or even third hand sources for an actual AGM date or “in the knows” on here to leak things, and none of us would have known it had even been postponed if not for Plymouth stating that fact. Why is it all such a closely guarded secret? Would it really hurt them to publish a date for the AGM through the official channels, and update supporters on events like postponements? Not good enough and it hasn’t been for donkeys years.

Marky_Mark Posted yesterday at 07:25 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:25 PM I’m not sure why people are so impatient? The league starts next April so does it really matter if the AGM is in November, December, January, February? If the wait means the return/reopening of a couple of tracks and a television deal then it’s worth the wait? If that also allows Plymouth some more time to get their air fence fund complete so they can run then that’s another good thing. Surely we all want as many tracks as possible running next season? 2

But to sign up riders rules/ points limit have to be in place and signed off at the AGM. So if you wait too long riders are unsure where they may ride, so will sign deals in Sweden / Denmark and leave the UK in the lurch, just like last year with Doyle and others.

Yh I hear what you are saying but the problem last year was that we didn’t know if the premiership was running at all with the problems at Ipswich or Sheffield. The question this year is a different one, how many teams are running in each league so there’s no reason the existing teams can’t start building teams to the already agreed points limit with the AGM to follow later to ratify the league line ups and rules for the season? So things must be pretty much agreed. Probably Prem holding everything up as usual 😉

Is Doubling Up classed as one league for the UK, or two, in the rules laid down by Poland?.. That could impact some of the riders if it is two... Even though them in charge did say the same couldn't happen again

I don't think any speedway fan has an issue with waiting, especially if it means giving tracks the best possible chance. The issue has never been about that, it's always about communication. If they announced the AGM was being delayed because of things in the pipeline, and kept people abreast (as much as they realistically can), I bet most fans would be pretty satisfied. They don't though, and never have. Edited 14 hours ago by PersonalResponsibility

They don't though, and never have. Exactly this. We weren’t even told the date of the AGM in the first place. Ironically, that was pretty much leaked by Plymouth as well due to them publicly asking for financial help to raise funds by the 3rd of November!! This isn’t new either. We have to find snippets on here every winter of when the AGM is taking place, it’s shouldn’t be the case. As you rightly say, is it that difficult for the BSPL to name a date for the AGM, and then inform the very people who keep the sport in this country running, about delays and the reasons behind it? I’m not talking about a daily commentary here and release all details as we all understand negotiations can be delicate and confidential, but a simple “The annual AGM has been delayed to a later date whilst we negotiate a TV deal and/or attempt to bring another club in to the Premiership. More clarification will come in due course” That shouldn’t be difficult.
Pirates Of Poole
Think the major problem is the promoters were all saying back in March this can’t happen again, things need to be known by July. Well that has long passed and now the AGM has been cancelled. These lot are good at talking a good talk but nothing changes for the better. Transparency is the key, look at Poland they know what’s going on in 2028 let alone 2027. Teams announcing riders before the rules have been ratified isn’t great as keeps the supporters in the dark. And before someone says they will already know the rules, then maybe let the fans know and do away with the AGM then! Announcing riders before the AGM is a risk if for whatever reason 1-2 teams don’t come to the tapes next year as will effect the points limit. Clearly there is a reason why the AGM has been cancelled, tell us why.

Pirates Of Poole
Bottom line always comes down to communication, if you are delaying things just say and let the fans know! They don’t need to go into detail. Edited 13 hours ago by Pirates Of Poole
mikebv
They certainly do, and continue to do, a p*ss poor job at "fan engagement" don't they?… It's almost like Speedways version of Omerta.. Everything is on a "need to know basis", and it is clearly obvious that, to them, their customers simply don't need to know.. The optics of what they do, so many times, paints them as amateurs, well meaning amateurs, but amateurs nevertheless... Literally several million is spent on riders, yet, it would appear, very little spent on a fit for purpose communication and marketing team... An amazing business plan, and one that, to no surprise, reaps exaxctly what it sows, season on season..
